My primary care doctor referred me here in early December. It took until the end of June (today) to be seen. In December, I was experiencing a severe cystic/hormonal acne flare up. I suffered for several months earlier this year, but now I'm mostly just dealing with face and body scars and isolated recurrences. I hadn't seen a dermatologist in 7-8ish years, so I was looking forward to an overall skin check up. I checked in today and was brought back pretty quickly. When I mentioned wanting to address a couple of mole changes in addition to the acne to the nurse, I was told that they were too busy to do both. She checked with the doctor and returned telling me I had to pick one topic or the other. Despite acne being a priority for me, I opted for the skin scan. Especially due to recent skin cancer diagnoses in my family. The doctor was pleasant during her short time with me and answered a few questions related to the skin check. I had to schedule another visit a month out for the acne. I'm glad it's not another six months, but I am pretty disappointed regardless. I know healthcare isn't what it used to be, but maybe they could consider designating more than ten minutes for new patient exams? I felt like I was a number in a chain of patients, instead of someone she cared to get to know, and having to return to address my original issue feels like an insurance money grab. Just a bummer, is all.

Fast-forward to January 2026 and I am once again back with a suspicious mole. When I called in somewhat of a panic, I was able to be seen within a week. Richmond Dermatology HEARD me and my concern and thankfully did not have me waiting for months, wondering what was going on. After a shave biopsy and a call from the doctor a few days later with the results and a thoroughexplanation of, I am in need of further intervention. Gratefully, no time was wasted, I have another appointment next week and I feel like I am in good hands. Being that we look at our skin every day and barely think twice about it, its best to stay on top of yearly skin exams, just as you would afford yourself other care. We worry more about what's going on inside of us than we do about our skin, which is the body's largest organ. Not that those other things aren't important, we just forget that our skin is very important, too. My issue is with their front of office/ office management. I had to cancel an appointment I'd been waiting weeks for last November, due to a snowstorm. It was for a pretty urgent and critical issue. When I tried to reschedule it, I was shocked that the soonest I could be seen was in March! I asked if they could call if they had a cancellation and was told "no" but I could call them every week and ask. It's finally March, and I've endured intense suffering for months now. I've been to urgent cares and my regular doctor, trying to manage what's going on, but it's really a specialist issue. It's less than a week before my appointment and still no confirmation from them so I had to call myself. Add the horrible phone maze to this, and I really wish I could find a dermatologist practice that isn't overbooked like this, and treats people a little more kindly.

This is not his fault, the appointments are simply too close together for him to give thorough exams. Forefront runs the business like a assembly line. If you need treatment, Dr. Sangiray will take great care of you. However, if you are there for preventative care, you might not get the most thorough examinations.

I had to move out of town before I finished all of my laser sessions but Nahida and her communications manager were very accommodating in scheduling appointments for my last minute trips back into town. If you are thinking about getting laser hair removal call and get a consultation appointment with Nahida :) Oh and I am Indian so I had a lot of hair prior to receiving the laser treatments. My skin tone is also on the darker side. Nahida was able to pair my skin tone with the correct skin type on the right laser machine and I absolutely love the results!! I have heard of so many people who do laser hair removal only to see either no results or have their hair grow back soon after. I have had close to no hair grow back. The hair that does grow back is so thin that it is barely visible and it is not enough to shave (underarms). Also bye bye to that dark underarm shadow that you usually see after shaving!
