I've been seeing Dr. Lee for almost 2 years now and receiving 1st class treatment. I'm having all of my upper teeth replaced. Dr. Lee recommended a treatment plan and it is coming along nicely. She cares about making me happy about my new teeth. She is very patient with me understanding how I feel. I had 3 implants done in one treatment. This was over a year ago. I had not one issue with any of them. I play trumpet for a living and and Dr. Lee and her staff from Veronica the office manager to Josh to Nancy to Ivy to Charmaine and all of her staff are making sure that everything will work out great. I put a bit of pressure against my teeth and no issue whatsoever. My follow up visits with Richard Dr. Lee's assistant has been unbelievable. The care and time he's taking with me makes feel great. I am hoping this review will help someone else who might be considering going here. As a first time patient, after my cleaning and xrays, I was given a recommendation by the dentist that seemed very extreme and very, very costly. When I asked questions they directed me to the assistant and I was then told to open a credit card to cover the cost. I went to get a second opinion and I was in and out of that dentist office for $50 with a very straightforward and cost effective solution. I later received a letter from this office saying they will not have me back.. how interesting. One star for the woman at the front desk, she was really helpful and professional. I have been a patient of Dr lee's for about a year and a half now, and no longer am I a patient. In reading the reviews, one line stuck out to me "Used Car Salesman" I couldn't agree with this more. You are taken into a back room with a table to explain costs of procedures, many of which are unnecessary. Very much feels like the "hey, have a seat in this room while I talk to my boss and see if we can get you in that car today!" I was quoted over $6000 for a mouthpiece to help with both snoring and grinding. Really?? Why hasn't any other dentist I have visited told me I needed one? Yeah, I knew i ground my teeth, but never to that point. I have very good dental health, and always have. But never in my 36 years have I had certain procedures offered and done. I can give decent marks for the actual cleaning and the hygenists...i haven't had any physical problems with anything done, but when I want just a regular cleaning/checkup, I get a ton of extra, unnecessary procedures on my bill!!. This is where the shoddy administration comes in. With my insurance, and I have pretty good insurance, a basic cleaning is just that, a basic cleaning and paid 100%. I get the bill and turns out that half the procedures aren't covered because they aren't part of a "normal cleaning"(ie: unnecessary for a normal check up), and even some that I am being billed directly for were never even submitted to the insurance company in the first place! So I end up getting billed the full rate, instead of even the contracted insurance rate, and for something that could be is fully covered. Is she playing the insurance companies too? Nice way to dupe the patient with a bunch of different codes, and if you don't closely scrutinize your bill, you're going to get taken. Fortunately its only a couple hundred bucks, but I cant imagine the pain if I didn't have the insurance I do..... Beware of what they are doing and check ahead of time what they are doing so you don't get hit with unnecessary procedures that your insurance wont cover! ******* UPDATE - I have switched dentists and found one I really like in Moraga, who is very thorough, explains everything she is doing, and most importantly, DOES THE WORK HERSELF! No hygenists with radios in their ears. When I told her of the services performed and the "recommended" procedures and devices, she confirmed my suspicion that 1) I did not need the previous work and 2) I don't need the recommended work! read more

Used Car Sales Man describes Dr. Lee's Practice. Just like all the other negative reviews on here my husband and I feel the same way, both patience of Dr. Lee for almost 3 years we are feed up. After being bullied over treatment and insisting on extra cleanings and fixing things that are not need to be fixed, WE ARE DONE. My husband was told at his cleaning that he would need 2 fillings, upon arriving at his follow up appointment to get those filled they proceeded to tell him he was due for 4 fillings. Tried to charge him and bullied him for not going along with it. There are countless other instances with her practice that need not waste any space but just know if you are a patient here she will try to get you on everything. From a $695 night guard (cash only) to extra deep cleanings just know that she wants your money. read more

Dr. Lee is a great dentist. I always feel very at home when i visit for my cleanings and check ups. She and her staff make me feel very at ease and going to the dentist has never been more comfortable. What i appreciate most about Dr. Lee is her expertise, gentle care, and honesty. My previous dentist had insisted that I get the small "crevices" filled on 5 teeth, BEFORE they become cavities. I didn't think it was necessary to get any procedure done if I didn't absolutely have to, especially if it was going to cost me $425 ($85 per tooth). That was 6 months ago, with my old dentist, old dental insurance, old job. Now that I've gotten a new gig in the city, I have better insurance and best of all I'm salary now so i can go back to having Dr. Lee as my dentist (I was a patient of hers back in 2007-2008, and unfortunately had to leave for another dental office closer to my work from 2009-2010. Since Dr. Lee's office is only open on weekdays, I would have had to use PTO to visit the dentist). Sorry for the tangent. So when i got my cleaning, x-ray and exams done today, Dr. Lee said I had NO CAVITIES. Thank God i stuck with my instincts and didn't get unnecessary fillings done (that was Pinole Dental btw, they suck). I had my cleaning done by the hygienist Denise. She was very gentle yet thorough. The lady at the front desk, Jen, is also very nice and helpful. Dr. Lee's office is conviently located on Ygnacio Valley Rd, cross street La Casa Via, next to John Muir hospital. Her office and equipment are very clean and modern. Her staff is wonderful and I would recommend this dental practice to everyone. read more

I'll make this short and sweet. I have never have felt so unsatisfied with a service. I never yelp (and really hate to negatively talk about a business); however, I do not want anyone to encounter the same issue. I tried to speak to the Dentist about my concerns, unfortunately she was not helpful and I walked away from the conversation even more frustrated. Cons - * Unsatisfactory work - I am still having pain and I am forced to go to another dentist (paying for the same work). * Money hungry $$$- They picked the most expensive treatment to fix my cavity (a crown) when I needed a filling (per another dentist). * They have a robotic lady to deal with all the finances (the Dr does no discuss pricing options AT ALL), she should be in sales because she was very pushy and unprofessional. * They 'pushed' unnecessary treatments for my fiancé as well. He is paying several hundred for a 'cleaning.' Clearly I do not recommend this place. read more

Dr Lee is very personable, warm and a great dentist. She only takes one patient at a time (unless she is helping someone with an emergency). If you do not like a dentist treating four people at once then Dr. Julia Lee is the dentist for you. I just got a dental implant from Dr. Lee. Dr. Lee and her staff were outstanding! Dr. Lee is probably the most knowledgeable dentist/oral surgeon I have ever met. I told her I did not like shots and she took her time numbing me. I felt no pain at all. Dr. Lee was gentle and comforting throughout the entire procedure. Ms. Genevieve Ong, the office manager, was excellent in instructing me on my pre and post op procedures. She was completely knowledgeable and thorough when accessing my insurance and telling me exactly what was covered. There were no hidden costs or surprises. This is the most up to date and most technology centric clinic I have ever been to. The staff headed by Dr. Julia is awesome. Let me tell you he assistant Richard is a dynamo and very amicable and professional. I have to agree with several other reviews, Dr. Lee comes does come across as a "used salesman" and does not have the best bedside manner. I came to Dr. Lee after a positive experience with my Dentist in SF. I am sorry to say after several appointments with Dr. Lee I was left bewildered by her accusatory and intimidating manner when it came to my dental care. Although her staff and office are very professional I will not be returning to her office for further services. They send emails to encourage you to spend all your insurance at their office before end of the year. Their focus is on collecting money, even though they presented themselves as courteous but they are rude. They demand payment at the office without prior notice and they will threaten to not finish the job that they started. The way they request payment is not professional. Dr Julia Lee and her team are simply amazing. My daughter went for her first check up in April 2013 and we decided it was time to start her on braces. Julia is such a caring dentist, she took the time to explain the procedure which made my daughter very comfortable with what was going to happen over the next 24 months, this was huge as previously we had a bad experience and my daughter was very anxious about going to the dentist after that. Well from our first visit, she was excited to go back each time to hear about her progress. She did everything she was told to do and was so determined to start 8th grade brace free and she did, they were taken off the day before and her teeth look beautiful. Making a decision to get an orthodontic done as an Adult was not easy but I have to say Dr lee is amazing! My overall experience was exeptional! All The staff are amazing and very accomodating. I have moved around California a lot and therefore had to see many different dentists. Dr. Lee is BY FAR the worst. To clarify, I mean the male Dr. Lee, not female, though I didn't have many interactions the female Dr. Lee. At my first appointment, they tried to convince me that I should have a procedure done in which part of my gum is removed so you can see more of the surface of my tooth. What a stupid procedure. At another appointment, I needed to have a cavity filled. They charged me $122 to fill ONE cavity. The dentist I'm going to now only charges $30. While having the cavity filled by Dr. Lee, it didn't seem like the novocaine injects were working. What I mean is, I could feel the drill and was crying and had to ask him to stop multiple times. He gave me 5 novocaine injections before finally going to get his wife. Mind you, I weight about 105 pounds so 5 injections seemed like a lot. When his wife came in, she gave me 2 more injections and I heard the other Dr. Lee say "Oh, I was putting the needle in the wrong place". EXCUSE ME?! Did you not go to dental school? At my most recent (and last) appointment with Dr. Lee, he was trying to convince me to get a number of procedures done that, in total, would cost over 2000 dollars. When I started to tell him that I have a mortgage and that paying my mortgage needs to come first, he said "Well, we all have mortgages to worry about". I have recently started going to a new dentist. She told me that the procedures that Dr. Lee recommended are not necessary whatsoever. Dr. Lee only cares about making money. It's disgusting. So all in all, I wasted a lot of time and money dealing with Dr. Lee. I'd recommend not making the same mistakes I did. read more

I paid with my debit card and now every few months or so since then they take money from my account.They aren't about care or quality. This Dental office is about quantity, pressure and stealing your money. I wouldn't recommend. I have now had to change my account and put their transactions into investigation by my bank. This was a waste of a 45 minute commute. I came in here for a cleaning and told them I did not want xrays. They told me it was a state requirement for new patients and that they wouldn't see me until I got a full mouth Xray. This is not true; it's suggested but not required! I use to work at a dental office. Needless to say, if it was, please tell me in advance before I drive all the way over there. Had four fillings done by Dr. Lee (All at the same time although they were on completely different sides of my mouth--later learned that's a no-no). Sat in the chair for over 3 hours having them done. The anesthetic used was ineffective. I left feeling glad it was over, only to realize (after consulting another dentist) that my fillings were not completely filled in! I now have horrendous tooth pain. I'm sure I could've gone back to get them fixed but after this experience I'm having a visceral reaction when I think about trusting this office again. Going elsewhere. read more

I gave 5 stars because of many reasons: 1. Dr. Lee is very professional and a very good dentist i have ever been too. I loved how she treats me like a family not just a patient. She always have time to sit and listen to all your concerns. You will never feel uncomfortable talking to her. And you can definitely tell that her patient's satisfaction is extremely vital. I'm glad i switched to Dr Julia Lee. 2. All her staff are very friendly, professional , helpful, and how they always follow up if there are any changes into your health, very cognizant of their patient availability. On the other comment about TV's are all dental ads, i think its crystal clear that you are in a dental office not in theater . But Dr Lee and the staff doesn't mind if you change the channel. 4.
