I own and operate a real estate brokerage in Arizona and with 15+ years of full-time experience in the real estate industry, I have managed, worked with, and worked across a number of successful real estate teams. So I can say with authority that Ron and Landen possess a level of local market knowledge and general real estate expertise that exceeds what I've experienced from any other broker team, even in the large metro market that I serve. From the moment that we set up our initial search, Ron and Landen have maintained open lines of communication with us. They had a clear understanding of our preferences so when a property that was a particularly good fit came to market, not only did we receive an automated email notification from the MLS, but they proactively notified us by phone so we didn't risk losing out to another buyer. They arranged for us to tour homes throughout the region and Ron offered his insights along the way so we were able to quickly identify the neighborhoods that "felt" like home to us. Once we found our property and prepared to write our offer, Ron's and Landen's knowledge of the local market shined! They had personally either sold or visited every comparable property, which allowed us to structure an offer that was consistent with market values, ensuring we didn't overpay. As out of state buyers, they have gone the extra mile to help facilitate inspections, appointments with contractors for painting, etc, and other requests that have arisen along the way. I could go on and on about the exceptional service that we've received from the Breese team, but I'll simply say this: If you are considering buying or selling a home in Western North Carolina, do yourself a favor and call Ron and Landen first. With 35+ years of combined local expertise and a true "customer first" focus, they'll earn your business!

She was always on top of every detail and accompanied my mom through the entire process. I would recommend Courtney 100 times and more because she was simply AMAZING! I did not know a realtor could be so thorough, kind and caring! My mom had just lost her home due to the flood waters from Hurricane Helene so it was a very sensitive time for her. Courtney was so wonderful! She LISTENED to what my mother was looking for, did NOT pressure her into anything. My mom was so happy to have someone who genuinely cared about her and about helping her find a new home. Seriously, if you need a realtor, ask for Courtney Plemmons. It will be the best choice you make for your future! My mom and I are very happy!

Granted, I did not choose Patrick McDowell to be my real estate agent. My lawyer did. They attend…read morethe same church, and Mr. McDowell is probably on his best behavior when God is watching him. Mr. McDowell asked for the one key that we owned for the business that he was going to sell for us. We complied. However, we needed the key back to try to make a copy, as my stepmother was selling off business property without our permission. We would only need the key for half an hour at most. We needed a copy of the key in order to document what property had been stolen by my stepmother. (It turned out that we could not get a copy made locally, and that an official, extra one would cost us two hundred dollars.) When we would call Mr. McDowell, he would not return our calls. When we did get him on the phone he was short and not friendly. He would not give us the key. When we had to document with our lawyer on our not-yet-sold property exactly what items my stepmother had sold and thus stole from us, Mr. McDowell had to be there as well. He was polite, but did not not offer to open any doors that had to be opened with the key. We had to ask him. Every area had to be documented and witnessed. Having to ask Mr. McDowell to do so was demeaning, as his inaction can be interpreted as that he could care less. Mr. McDowell made fifty thousand dollars off of the sale of our business. He never talked to us, personally or in a business capacity. I suggest going with a different agent, one who treats people respectfully.

We didn't know anyone out here, so…read morewe asked our mortgage loan officer for agent recommendations and chose Nick Hinton out of the bunch after seeing some great reviews for him online. Judging from my own experience, those reviews were well deserved! Nick and his assistant Renée were invaluable to our search. They were prompt and patient, responding to our questions and concerns as people new to the process, and it was clear they were experts. He was also quick to show up for viewings, which put us at ease. Nick came through with excellent recommendations for specialists when it came time for inspections, and a contractor who could answer some questions we had about modifying the property we hoped to purchase. The people here are also great to work with. When you talk to them, you feel they really care about making sure you find a house or property that checks the boxes and one that makes you happy. And when it came time to make the bid, we followed Nick's advice and landed our dream home in this wild and competitive market. We're glad Nick is committed to not just building but maintaining relationships with his clients because he really is a priceless resource!

It was probably a good thing we didn't get some of the houses we bid on. It was a tough environment back in 2021 when we closed on this house. It probably still is for those looking now. Nick and Renee were tenacious, as this market requires. Nick is not your typical realtor. He keeps it real. He's authentically Asheville even though he originates in California like me. Check him out.

This review is concerning the cabin rental side of their business. The cabin (Appalachian View) was…read morebeautiful. It was clean and we really did enjoy our stay. The negatives, however, were all related to the abysmal customer service and general lack of care that the company had for us. When we arrived to the cabin, instead of reading over a welcome note like most rental cabins, we were given a (very) long list of things to NOT do in the cabin and exactly how much we would be charged for doing them. It sort of started things off with a negative tone, but it wasn't a big deal. These things included: -"Do not remove the batteries from the smoke detector" The detector in the living room didn't have a battery or even battery cover. -"Do not adjust the logs in the gas fireplace" The fireplace had no logs in it and was not gas. -"Do not rearrange the furniture on the deck" The deck had two rocking chairs overlooking the incredible view. The first time somebody sat in one of the chairs it broke to pieces. Luckily it was my fit brother-in-law and not my elderly grandmother who sat down first. Inspecting the other chair, they were clearly not meant for outdoor conditions. On the first day, I sat down to finish up a little bit of work and tried to log into the free WiFi, only to find that it required a password. The check-in note said that no password was required. We sent the company an e-mail asking for the guest login password, but didn't receive a reply until we checked out. The employee said that the WiFi didn't require a password and that we must have been doing it wrong. I don't have a computer science degree, but I know how to log into WiFi. It had a guest login password and the dismissive company representative was unbelievable. Also, two of the three beds had broken frames (we checked, the wooden frames were actually snapped in two) that caused the beds to lay very unevenly. To summarize, over the course of four days, this rental company showed little to no interest in ensuring that we had an enjoyable stay, even after we sent them two separate e-mails. We had a great vacation in spite of the furniture trying to kill us, no internet access, smoke detectors that didn't have batteries, and terrible sleep. If we could rent Appalachian View from a different company, we would in a heartbeat. But these guys have a lot to learn about retaining customers. Or, what seems more likely, is that they don't care about making money from the rental side of their business.

I have been buying & selling RE since 1984. Emailed Kaye Matthews @ this Remax about one of her…read morelistings. After 2 days with no response I called her office and was given the run around. Finally she called me back and was pissed I had left a message with her boss about her lack of response to me. I was working as a buyers agent for a client that was very interested in her listing. Kaye was very uncooperative and treated me like I knew nothing. Finally I had to get another Remax broker to let us in the listing. My client wanted to make an offer, at the time Kaye had this prop listed almost 2 years with 2 price reductions. Finally Kaye met with us so we could make an offer. While making the offer she mentioned that she had to speak with me about the commission split. She had advertised 3% co-broke split. She then had the balls to tell me right in front of my client that she would not pay me 3% because I had been a problem to her. She would only pay me a 2% commission. My buyer was upset by this and threatened to walk. Not representing her client/seller in any way properly. My buyer wanted the house and agreed to take care of me, so we went ahead with the offer which was accepted. My buyer was all cash and wanted a quick closing which Kaye said she could get done. Come closing day Kaye's sellers, a divorcing couple can't agree who will pay the RE commission so they don't sign. After 2 weeks nothing getting done the closing attorney tells me Kaye did not have both sellers sign the listing agreement, sheer incompetence on Kaye's part. So the selling wife was refusing to pay her 1/2 of the commission. The deal fell apart and then Kaye tells her sellers not to release the escrow deposit my buyer put up. Over 27 years of buying & selling I have never seen such an incompetent real estate agent. She did not represent her sellers to their best interest and was totally disrespectful of the buyer & buyers agent. Kaye Matthews of Remax Mt Realty is a scumbag low life that gives all real estate agents a bad name. Do not for any reason do business with Kaye Matthews as a buyer, seller or buyers agent. She will for sure screw up your deal and screw you!
