21/3 jukebox burger review. Went with two of friends and we arrived at 9:30 pm on the 21/3. They told us the kitchen would close soon afterwards and we told them we would show up, make the order fast and get out asap. Good plan right! It didn't turn out so good...
I ordered the bacon cheese burger. (I didn't care much for the name reference on burgers). My friends the pattie between the grilled cheeses and my other friend ordered the Beliveau (mango salsa+ avocado).
So when we had called to announce we were coming they told us we would have to hurry up and order. We were fine with that. Once we showed up it took 10minutes before the waitress came to take our order and another 20-22minutes before the burgers showed up.
Finally, the burgers were delivered by what seemed to be the manager (his ass was hanging out of his pants) I thought only teenagers wore them below the buttcheeks! Thanks for that! :D .. It added greatly to my burger experience.
Throughout our wait we looked around at their managers and their behaviour. This is what we witnessed.
Someone who seemed to be the girlfriends just throwing herself everywhere and the other "manager" was playing around the dining room with his new video camera and attempting to fake interview some employees. Must you really do that with customers in your establishment?
Finally, our burgers showed up after 22 minutes. One of my friends ordered sweet potato fries and they were cold. The waitress offered a replacement portion which she took the second portion was warm and tasty. Then, we checked our other fries and the top was warm and the bottom cold as if they stayed on the holding pass under the lamp for too long... I mentioned it to the waitress who stood there and just offered more fries... Nice gesture, I like my fries done properly the 1st time. There was no way I wanted more of those greasy fries 2 deep fried just to warm them through again.
Now the piece de resistance! The best burgers in the west island it's why we came to sample the best of the best. It was like a wet fire cracker.. that sums our experience in a phrase.
The meat was angus beef, no doubt. My burger had no seasoning on the meat so it tasted pretty bland. The bread was supposed to be "cooked fresh" It was at least 24 hours old and dry and not yeasty at all. My friend with the grilled cheese burger was the best. The grilled cheese were done right. The meat suffered lack of seasoning but when you make 2 good grilled cheese, no matter what you put in the middle will be good!
Now, the "Beliveau" I said I didn't like food named after people and this is why. The poor man must feel a heartache everytime one of those burgers gets served.. The beef pattie had broke and they sort of tried to hide it in the kitchen. Not so great.. Next, the flavors were so dull and boring (no seasoning, mango not ripe and some decent avocadoes). The burger was sooo bland the only thing that popped was the pickle taste...
Needless to say our quest for the "best burger in the west island" is still on. They are really running with their 50's concept and that's great. The place was clean and shiny. Other note: 2 drinks, 3 burgers + 1 extra sweet potatoes fries for 60$. There is much more affordable out there for better (I think of burger de ville in NDG)
Apparently the place gets packed and people love it. Good for them. I know I'm not going to be spending more money there anytime soon. read more
