I didn't…read morelook anywhere except the kids section but there were great deals to be had if you want to stock up for next summer. There were loads of kids tshirts reduced to £1 and I got a pair of boys combats reduced to 50p. As usual though, just like in every other shop there was tons of girls clothes but very little for baby boys in the sale so I was a little disappointed. The downstairs cash desk isn't very well designed, and it was a bit of a buggy battle as there's a large pillar just in front of one of the tills, and both myself and the next customer had babies with us, which totally gridlocked the area. Only a minor fault, but it was a bit annoying. I was there for ages because the cashier couldn't get the price right on 3 rolls of wrapping paper that were reduced to 25p - whatever she did it kept charging £1 each, so I had to wait for a supervisor. When I finally got back into the lift I checked my receipt and discovered I had been charged twice for something - only £2.50 but £2.50 is £2.50!!! I had to go up to the top floor (waiting on two cycles of the lift because it was busy) and wait at customer services to get a refund. Grrrr! The lady there was very apologetic but it was just annoying to have to do this - the 10 mins delay meant I had to pay an extra quid-odds for car parking so I was not a happy panda. The customer service was excellent and the prices were fab although you do get what you pay for and the quality isn't fantastic, but kids grow out of stuff so fast that it doesn't really matter. It's worth a visit if you're shopping on a budget - it is a massive store.

Upstairs you can find a lot of the smarter stuff, children's, larger sizes and shoes and accessories. There is a lot of ranges packed in so only a small selection of each can be found. When I last went in (yesterday), it looked shabby in areas and not just the sale rails. There was a lot of stock pushed on to the rails and made it difficult to look at properly and lots of clothes were just put together as they are the same colour. The clothes are reasonably priced and are of a quality expected of a cheaper fashion chain; some items are decent but have to look round. Would comment on staff but the only members I saw was on the tills and I didn't purchase anything.

Personally I had always viewed New Look as low end of the fashion market, down there with Primark…read moreand MK1 (if that still exists). However, I went in today and the price tags have considerably risen. A denim rara skirt which I would expect to cost around £10-15 was marked at £20. But, this said, the quality has also risen accordingly and I found a really nicely detailed dress for £22 which I was happy with. In summary, not as cheap as it used to be, but better quality!

Its best to have a rummage as not everything is on show and you could find a gem at the back of a rail. They do stock a few sizes but the larger ones are first to go, so its worth looking online as they keep a higher level of stock of these sizes then the shops. They have stock updates on a weekly basis it seems so worth looking in regular. They have a lot of on trend items and are a quick turnaround form catwalk to high street version. The prices are ok not too expensive but not overly cheap either. They also do a good basics range for the plain cotton vest or top to wear with other items, also the jeans range is fairly good as well in this store. They do a great range of costume jewellery and non leather bags as well. They do a petite and tall range and maternity. There is also a lot of collaborations and small designers, most famous being Kate Moss but there is Yumi range as well as Lipsey and a few others. Downstairs is mainly topman but there is the topshop shoe lounge where lots of lovely shoes are to be had! There is a small clothes section as well. The shop is light and not as crowed as it once was. The changing rooms are average but practical. Overall a good fashion shop normally aimed at the younger cool crowd but still worth a look for others as they do stock a varied range.

TK Maxx in Barnsley is well located in the Alhambra centre, although you do have to pay for parking. It is quite a small branch compared to some of their other stores, and it is of the older style of decor so looks a bit more dated and rather like the jomble sale that so many people compare it to. There aren't many cash desks and each has an individual queue rather than the communal queues you get in their newer stores - so if someone in front of you needs a price, you're stuck! Plenty of bargains to be had though, and always worth a visit.

However if we leave that matter and Primark's official pronouncements on it to one side, we can simply note that this is a good place to go for a basic wardrobe if you're broke. Some of their items, in my experience, are less than fantastic quality (but what do you expect for those kind of prices?) Some are better than you might expect e.g. a lot of their women's shoes are absolutely beautiful. I've also found their women's underwear to be reasonably priced for what you get, and it's always worth checking out their sale rail. Not least because items on it can occasionally generate surprising interest on Ebay.

What is different is that most clothes stores are independent business selling unique fashion items. This store sells high quality clothing for woman and child. It has a large shop full of dresses, jackets and pants. The prices are cheap and affordable and good quality too. There is no reason not to shop here, as you are going to save yourself loads of money and the money is cheap too.
