On Boxing Day lunch time I had the special which was roast beef with mash and veg. I want it all over again as I type this. The meat was just outstanding. I also had parsnip soup to start. The soup was so good that I had it again when I returned later in the week. At lunch time again that week I had the traditional favourite sausage and mash. Wow. Just wow. Yummy sausages, creamy mash and crisp green peas. It doesn't get any more home cooked than that. A good selection of beer on tap including my favourite Peroni. There's plenty of parking, an outdoor play area for kids and the staff are always pleasant. This is a place I would return to again and again.

Here we were delighted to see that the same quality, cleanliness, comfort and attention to detail has been maintained. This is credit to the owners and also their great staff. Our supper and breakfast was prepared with care, served by lovely staff (our evening server was a school teacher....just wish i'd had her when I was at school!) who helped out and had a wonderful sunny disposition. The presentation of the cooked breakfast was excellent. A very quiet room with a great comfy bed, linen and pillows made for a great nights sleep and also some enjoyable canoodling. The bathroom is vast and spotlessly clean. We woke to snow on the hills in the distance and had a leisurely breakfast. They even had a decent quantity of fresh milk in the fridge! The owners take pride in their hospitality and it shows in everything they offer. We will return....

Went in recently with my wife and it's changed slightly, but not much for the better. The decor in the tap room is as comfy and warm as ever, but the dining area was cold, with metal tables and white walls throughout. Beer and food prices seemed to have doubled - but is the way with any longstanding pub once taken over by a chain. The food was good. Slow to emerge for a quiet day but honest and tasty. Based on the food I would have rated this place a 4, but my wife ordered coffee and a waitress with tattoos sighed when we asked for it, then argued with her when she asked for milk and served it whilst Tutting and rolling her eyes. Plus we felt somewhat uncomfortable because a man who we assume was an off duty manager/chef was sat drinking at the bar and not once did he stop staring at us when we ordered and ate. Would come here again if the kitchen got a pub-transplant

The 'old' Lescar was legendary for it's very cheap lager and great atmosphere but was crying out for a refurb, which duly happend last year. The 'new' Lescar has a much trendier decor and sells a wider range of beers(which are excellent), but at a greatly increased price. They also sell food, which is also nice but pricey for what you get. There is a function room at the back of the pub which hosts the famous 'Last Laugh' comedy club every week and also several other regular events. Despite the prices, i'd still reccommend a visit
