The woman at the front desk was literally one of the most un-friendly women I have ever met. She was complaining to a coworker about a male employee there while my son and I sat in the waiting room. The vet techs seemed okay, ours was nice and understandable with our issue, so I gave 2 stars. We had a young female vet who was very set in her routine and unfortunately our large dog just doesn't do well on high exam tables (I asked why he had to be up there for the exam and she said - well, it's just easier for us. Ha! At least she admitted it. I do feel badly that he is a challenge but also, that's part of your job.) Their prices are high and I was told "if you had a little dog it would be cheaper". Huh. That's a new one. Good to know when I keep looking for our vet. read more

I'm new to the area and was worried about switching vets and finding one that would treat my dog well since he's a large dog. The staff was so sweet and handled him so well !!! They let me come back with them and watch the whole process I truly think they are the best vet I've ever been to. Definitely recommend and Dr Judd was excellent. read more

Having recently moved to TX, I really wasn't sure what vet to use for my QH mare. I came across Dr.Judd's practice and have been thrilled with the level of care from Dr.Judd and his team. Dr.Judd takes the time to explain everything to you, answer questions and is always so kind and patient with my occasionally spicy chestnut mare. The practice is extremely organized, and the office staff are very responsive and helpful with anything you may need. The practice also operates through an App, which allows you do book online, request medications, see medical history and so much more. It is so refreshing to finally be with a vet who is not stuck in the stone age‍. Dr.Judd is extremely caring and compassionate and always reaches out personally after each visit or call to see how my mare is doing. This doctor's negligent treatment of my first furr-brother caused his untimely death. Dr. Judd ignored blood test results multiple times showing that his kidney levels were elevated as early as August 2002. In March 2003, when our Lhasa was in too much pain... we called a mobile vet who took more blood tests and diagnosed Kidney Failure. He was gone the next day. Had Dr. Judd done ANYTHING he was supposed to do, and told us about the elevated blood results 9 months earlier, we could have and would have done anything and everything to help our baby. We now have two more Lhasas, and wouldn't take them to Dr. Judd if he was the last vet in town... a quick drive to Dallas or Austin would be a better choice than Dr. Judd. read more

Today we had our annual appointment for our 2 dogs' shots. I was asked if I was getting my dogs' annual shots at the beginning and said yes, since I've gotten the same thing the past 2 years. I was never told any prices today or options for packages. The appointment took an hour and a half, with the vet techs missing my dogs' veins multiple times and having to try again (3 times on one dog, with him bleeding through his bandages afterwards). After 90 minutes in the vet room (usually 30-50 minutes for both dogs), I then spent 26 minutes waiting in the empty waiting room to check out. I was told my total was $1136, and started panicking. Last year our total was $578 for both dogs' shots, and in 2020, it was $616. (While this visit did include a year of heartworm pills, so did the previous 2 years. There was an additional $200 for other tests/medication for one dog today, but that is still a $300 increase over previous years.) I did receive Judd's email in the past year saying prices were going up, but I was never told how much. I asked the receptionist if Judd has a price list for packages/shots, and she said she'd make a note in my file to quote me prices each time I come in. Customers have the right to know prices and what they may be paying.. When I asked the receptionist if other people got upset over prices, she said "Rarely". The receptionist also told me that if my dogs had gotten the same packages in previous years, it definitely would have been more expensive than the $500-$600 I said it was (receipts prove differently, which she could've easily looked up). How can a company expect people to have $1100 for an annual vet visit and never discuss prices with them? Luckily, I could pay $1100 today, but I'm sure many people can't, and I wasn't given an option of payment plans or anything else. The receptionist could not have cared less - my husband and I will be looking for a more affordable vet and pleasant receptionist in the future. read more

Do not go to this vet. If I could give zero stars I would. I found a kitten a while ago and just needed to find a vet to take him quick and so I went to Judd. They were not helpful at all. They didn't throughly check my cat or warn me about any of the problems you might have when taking in a stray. Because of them I had a flea infestation. I guess it was stupid of me to trust them and believe that if my cat had fleas or other problems they would have told me. Then he got worms because of the fleas that they left untreated. They didn't even give me flea and tick prevention medicine until I asked for it. They knew he was a stray. They were so difficult to talk to and get real answers from. They lied to me multiple times. I have a cousin who's a vet in lake Jackson and he thinks these people are ridiculous too. Don't even get me started on how insanely expensive they are. All the little stray kitten check ups and vaccinations and everything cost SO MUCH. I looked at other vets and they literally had kitten bundles that had all the necessary check ups and vaccinations for so so much less money. But by then it was too late. Do not go to this vet. If you have to travel farther for a better vet then do it. read more

In traveling through Texas one of our Great Danes became very sick. We found this veterinary clinic and had to trust their judgement - a scary thing far away from home. My wife and I found Dr. Judd to be really down to earth and knew his stuff. We are pretty picky about care for our giant dogs. only later we found out he was a board certified veterinary doctor, pretty rare, but shows a great amount of extra study. Anyway our Taylor had a stress related gastritis (we thought might be bloat) and he gave her meds and watched her for a few hours and we were on our way. We loved his manner and friendly style. I cannot express how thankful I am that Dr. Judd and his staff have taken care of my sweet mare for the last few years. Good vets are hard to come by, but these guys treat your babies like you would, if not better. Doc explains everything, without going over your head and always looks at all causes of a situation rather than treating prematurely. I was extremely pleased with Dr. Judd's treatment of my cat. He patiently explained all the possible causes for her illness and was very professional. I can't recall another vet who was willing to spend so much time discussing issues and potential treatment plans. The tech was very kind in handling the cat. Judd Veterinary Clinic has been our "go to" veterinarian for ten years that we have lived in the Waco area. We have a ranch with 5 cats, 2 dogs, 5 horses and cows, chickens and ducks. We were in the past a horse breeding facility and were running several broodmares that Judd Vet Clinic successfully artificially inseminated. Dr. Bob Judd has always been great with our animals. From our beloved Sam dog who was diabetic and needed Dr. Judd's help to regulate his insulin levels, to Rocky Horse who was born in the middle of the night and was seriously small and unable to nurse. Dr Judd arrived on ranch at 4 am in the morning, inserted a gastric tube so that he could be fed and continued working with him daily for 3 days - I am pleased to share that he is a healthy wonderful horse as a result of Dr. Judd's commitment to all animals. His staff is beyond reproach! Professional, courteous and capable are all terms that I would use to describe Judd Veterinary Clinic. I would recommend them (and have) to everyone! read more

Judd Vet Clinic is NOT the place to take your beloved pet. Dr. Judd doesn't tell you about very important findings on the diagnostic tests he performs. My dog was LUCKY...I took her to another vet for a second opinion and that vet informed me of ALL the crucial findings of those tests. Dr. Judd leaves you in the dark.....completely......and just continues to lead you towards more testing.....at his discretion. When you ask him where all his testing is going, and why a particular test is needed.....he tells you he doesn't have time to delve into it right now. I got the distinct impression that he wasn't interested in a partnership with me with regards to my dog's health. His wife Deborah, the office mgr., definitely lets you know that she's irked with you if you want to get medicine for your dog cheaper at petmeds or your local pharmacy. Her speech gets a little "clipped" and her body language a little jerky.....and I picked up on that display of diapproval. I think she just wants you to buy meds with their clinic ..I suppose they must make a nice profit off of them. These happenings were what drove me to another vet. My new vet performed targeted and specific testing which saved some money and TALKED to me regarding options we could take as well as what was going on with my dog.....what I needed to worry about and what I didn't need to worry about. That took allot of my fears away.....knowing what we were doing, why we were doing it, and what we were looking at in terms of costs. As long as my dog didn't have a problem, the "Judds " wer fine. It was when my dog started having some chronic issues that my association with Judd Vet Clinic went downhill.....and I had been taking my dog there for quite a few years. So, be forwarned. read more

Went to see Dr. Judd for the very first time. I was very impressed with him. The Doctor explained to me in layman terms what was probably going on with him. With this Doctor, I could actually tell that he really cares for this animal as if it were his own. I have 5 dogs and 8 cats and you can be sure that Dr. Judd will be my main Vet for now on. As for the staff, they were SUPER. The girls were great that were helping him. They too had a lot of patience. Debra at the front desk is such delight. She will answer all your questions and if she doesn't know, ask the Doctor. Also one big factor for me that I have never seen before at a veterinary office was when we were finished, I received a detailed report of Doctor's notes and all the information that was done and needs to be done.
