I've been getting my hair cut by JT for almost 15 years! He is the best in town, shop is clean, JT is friendly. Won't go anywhere else.

I got a real good cut here for a king's bargain ($12 + tip). Highly recommended.

DITA Barbers Downtown Hillsboro

Finding an adult barber in Hillsboro is an adventure…read more For many of the years my family's been here, I've made do with the wisened, cantankerous old men who run the storefront barbershops around Main Street. If you're OK waiting indeterminate amounts of time for the regulars to clear out and can tolerate the constant stream of how-things-used-to-be griping, cryptic posted hours (if they say they're open at 11, take lunch at 11:30 and close at noon, they close at 11:30), casual racism and occasional prison sentences, you can get a passable haircut here for less than $20. When I moved here full time, "passable" and all of the nonsense that went with it just wasn't tolerable anymore. The downtown around those places is improving too much to trap yourself in a time capsule each weekend, and the old barbers are in such ill health that I don't like the odds of those storefront barbershops being around much longer. The question then becomes "Where do adults go for a quality haircut?" Anything located in a strip mall with "Clips" in the name is a nonstarter... a great way to end up looking as if you took out the pandemic clippers and did it yourself. The Barbers and Bishops are a step in the right direction, but exist for folks on their first gigs with Intel or Nike. The Chop Shop? Let the kids have their own space, willya? Without going into Portland proper, the best answer for years was to head into Beaverton and let the dozens of great barbers around Old Town give it a crack. However, when Beaverton's DITA Barbers opened its second location in Downtown Hillsboro in the middle of the pandemic, it reached some much-needed middle ground. DITA is less concerned about what's on the walls than it is about what's going on around the chair. The white walls, plants and Insta lighting are all of the moment without seeming cloying. Yes, your barber should have online appointments at this point. Yes, there should be a card payment system that looks exactly like what you'd use at a coffee shop. Yes, there should be more than one set of clippers or guard touching your head, and the barber should know the difference between tapering and a high buzz. At a time when the old-guard barbers are giving over to old-guard arcade salons where you're just as likely to find your aunt getting her hair set as you are to get an open chair, I'm ecstatic that DITA took the chance and recognized a need here. Other reviewers have dropped the word "vibe" in their description of DITA, and that's what puts it over. From barbers who know what they're doing and when the room's too quiet to the soundtrack that's firmly based in a 21st century city and doesn't apologize for it, DITA is a whole vibe in a downtown that's typically devoid of them or, worse, gives off terrible ones. The construction across the street says that's changing, and I'm glad DITA's here for it.

Made a same-day appointment and arrived a few minutes early. No waiting -- the place was busy but I was immediately escorted to a chair and had a scissor-cut by Hailey. She was skilled, friendly, asked the right questions and cut my hair quickly and efficiently. No muss, no fuss, and I left very satisfied. The price was reasonable, the shop was clean and well maintained, and it was an experience I expect to repeat the next time I need a cut. My five-star review is genuine!

My usual stylist was out today but I needed a cut before my trip. I normally get the works and this was my plan today. Monse the stylist for today started asking what haircut I wanted. I replied a regular cut with a number 2 on the side. She then asked how much off the top and I said a couple of fingers and it should be in the notes from previous visits. She stated they don't keep notes. Then she asked how high should she go on the number 2. At this point I responded that I have never been asked so many questions about my haircut. She then yelled to the other stylists to see if they wanted to cut my hair. I then asked so now someone else is going to cut my hair. She yelled at me yes. I responded well I guess if you're not competent to cut my hair that would be best. She then asked me to leave. Yup. I am in absolute shock over the entire interaction. She stated a manager would call me back. So far no.

Today (2026-09-03) is the first time in many years that I booked a haircut with what I would…read moreconsider a "professional" barber shop. Previously, for some years, I have been going to Great Clips. Sadly, the results were not always great, if you know what I mean. I recently grew a full beard, too, so I also needed a beard trim, for sure. Tired of the Great Clips crap-shoot, I asked my AI, Claude, for a list of barbers that do both hair and beard trimming in Beaverton and he came up with a short list that included DITA Barbers, only 14 minutes from our house. Perfect! So I booked an appointment at DITA with a barber named, Caleb! There is no parking lot to speak of, but at 10am I had no trouble finding street parking across from DITA. I arrived somewhat early, so a nice young lady named, Destiny, invited me to sit and wait for Caleb, who arrived right on time. The atmosphere of DITA Beaverton was welcoming, nicely chill and the shop is very clean and professional. It felt good. I told Caleb the length I wanted my hair and that I would leave my beard trimming and shaping up to him, so he went to work on me. Such a great experience! Caleb was absolutely meticulous in the care he took cutting my hair. I was impressed. He preceded shaping and trimming my beard with a hot towel to soften things up and also did a razor trim, which felt wonderful and was greatly appreciated! And some facial moisturizer, too! I am very happy to be wearing the results of his efforts! Caleb is everything you'd want in a barber - professional, very friendly and a good conversationalist, so the banter we exchanged was pleasant and interesting, a pleasant change from the Great Clips experience. Thank you, Caleb, and thank you DITA Barbers, I will definitely be back!

I scheduled an appointment on July 8 for my wedding day, July 19, with Blare. At 12:30:00 p.m. on…read morethe day of my appointment, the shop called and told me Blare could not make it because of a doctor's appointment. Doctor appointment on Sunday at 3 1/2 hours before my appointment. They offered another barber who could see me 15-20 minutes after my original appointment time. Since it was my wedding day and I had no realistic chance of finding another barber at the last minute, I had no choice but to accept. I was assured that the replacement barber was experienced, but the service I received did not reflect the level of experience I had been promised. He was late for my appointment , struggled with both the haircut and the straight-razor shave, and took approximately 20 minutes just to trim my beard in preparation for the shave. After about 30 more minutes of unsuccessful attempts with the razor, I finally asked him to finish with an electric machine. I was supposed to leave the shop by 2:00 p.m. so I could arrive on time for my wedding photography appointment. Because the replacement barber was late and the services took much longer than expected, I was late for my wedding pictures. This added unnecessary stress to an already very important day. Unfortunately, I also received one of the worst haircuts I have ever had--on my wedding day. I will not name the replacement barber because I believe the shop is responsible for assigning someone who was not properly prepared to provide the services I had booked. I chose this business because of its strong online reviews, but my experience was extremely disappointing. Canceling my selected barber on the morning of such an important appointment, providing a late replacement, and assuring me that he was experienced when the service suggested otherwise was unacceptable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business or consider it reliable.
