From my pleasant experience in the store with one of the owners, and to enjoying the quality products I get from this African store is top tier. If you're looking to get treated well and get your money's worth on African & Caribbean foodstuffs this is the place to get it. Thank me later!!

They have a deli area offering Mediterranean dishes and toppings and everything is really good, but the jewel of the crown (at least for me since I am a carnivore) is the meat area: Super fresh meats with a super friendly and attentive service. Be careful with items that have no price tag…read more I was charged $15.99 for an item that normally sells for around $3.99 at grocery stores in the same area. I noticed the issue immediately after checkout, reviewed my receipt before leaving the parking lot, and returned to the store within 2-3 minutes. Instead of acknowledging a possible mistake, staff insisted the price was correct and stated they do not honor returns, even when addressed immediately. I pointed out that the item had no price tag on it, nor was there any pricing on the shelf, and that it appeared to be priced nearly 4× higher than normal. The response was dismissive and not apologetic. Within less than 10 minutes at my next store stop, I found the exact same item priced at $3.99, confirming my concern. Which is unfortunate, because the store initially appeared nice and clean. However, once trust is lost, it's hard to come back. Based on how this was handled, I will not be returning and do not recommend this store.

This place can be an experience just walking through and looking at everything. The looks and smells are almost overwhelming. Our favorite thing to do here is to get spices. You can get a HUGE bag of spices for a fraction of the price that you would pay for a little bottle at a regular grocery store. The staff are very straight to the point. Some might consider border line rude but I think it's just the culture difference not rudeness. They are usually pretty busy and just don't have time for pleasantries. If you need spices or a 50 pound bag of rice, this is your place.

I'm a fool and must make up for lost time. The interior isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing - it's pretty run down with dingy and outdated floors, walls, and shelves. Unattractive fluorescent lighting and items sort of piled about. But everything seemed ultra-clean and the store is easy to navigate, which is what counts. The variety and quality of products here is stellar. When do you ever see whole raw garbanzo beans? Where can you find the biggest bags of basmati rice known to all humankind (and multiple brands at that)? So much produce, every kind of flour you can think of, herbs (curry leaves!), and an incredible array of whole/dried and powdered spices. Soooo many types of salt and pepper, curry, masala, chutneys, incense & candles, yogurt, fresh baked goods, SO MUCH GHEE, a large selection of frozen foods, candies, and a ton of pre-packaged cookies, breads, and cakes. I was the only person in the store at 4 PM on a Wednesday, but the staff was nice and I was able to get in and out quickly despite my lengthy browsing.

First you can find mushrooms that aren't available at a typical grocery store. At Whole Foods for example, you can occasionally get oyster mushrooms at around $14-$17 per pound. At Ben, $6.99/pound. King mushrooms, you might be able to find some at Whole Foods that are the length of you thumb for $15 per pound. I bough them at Ben today for $2.49/pound and they were as big around as my wrist and as long as a beer bottle. I can alway find fresh seasonal fruit and veg at half the price of Kroger and Whole Foods. When you're finding regular grocery stores are low on rice and noodles, Ben had pallets of all kinds of rice and aisles full of noodles. Oh and the prices are so much less. There isn't an Asian sauce or seasoning that you won't be able to find here. I don't buy meat, seafood or eggs however I did notice they were plentiful and the prices were well below Kroger and even Target. I've never had an issue with customer service. Everyone is always very nice and willing to assist.

I strongly advise against shopping at this establishment. Today, my mother was treated with an…read moreappalling level of disrespect and unprofessionalism by the supervisor. My mother noticed that the cashier appeared to be scanning several items twice, so she simply requested that another cashier scan her groceries to ensure she was being charged correctly. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the supervisor began yelling at my mother, accusing her of stealing, and repeatedly pointing at the screen while calling her stupid. This behavior was absolutely unacceptable, humiliating, and completely uncalled for. No customer should ever be subjected to verbal abuse, false accusations, or public humiliation simply for questioning a potential checkout error. The supervisor's behavior demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism, respect, and basic customer service. the supervisor even pushed her cart far away so she couldn't get to it and made my mom get the grocery cart herself. that's when she noticed many of the items getting scanned twice. Then my mom wanted the cashier to stop so she can look what items were scanned twice. To make matters worse, this establishment also has serious issues with the quality and freshness of its products. I have noticed spoiled produce and questionable meat products being sold, along with an unpleasant odor that lingers throughout a significant portion of the store. 1 am deeply disappointed and disgusted by how my mother was treated. Customers deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, especially when raising legitimate concerns. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone, and I strongly encourage others to reconsider shopping here.
