I've been shopping here since it opened. The original owner, Jay, was great. The new owners are not, to say the least. Everything is completely overpriced, which is acceptable to some degree for the convenience of picking up a few items when needed. But, they are really pushing it. My real complaint is that they are rude and don't appreciate their customers. The latest example is that I bought a loaf of bread and once I got home I noticed that the expiration date was that day. I went back expecting that they, like any competent business owner, would simply replace it. Not these guys, they rang up the new loaf and expected me to pay for it. Incredibly, they said it was my fault for not checking the date. I shop there at least twice a week but won't be going back out of principle. Maybe once they go out of business because of their attitude that they're doing the customer a favor the new owners will be better. read more

I've been just getting uber eats codes and searching for new places to try and found this place that sells juices. The juices here are super fresh! We got the flu-away, health tonic juice, liver detox juice and a morning delight smoothie. I had the health tonic juice which way super delicious! And the price for the juices were just 6.99 each. The owner was really nice too even though I came a little late to pick it up. I would come back again for fresh juice! read more

In the olden days long before yelp long before computers long before seat belts you could walk around the Town of Syosset and find 2 full supermarkets there was a long dry season of just 7/11 and a couple of grocery items in the cvs Think fairway meets 7/11 meets stopnshop This is a small supermarket grocery organic natural food store its tiny but chock full of just about everything organic grains organic fruits and veggies freezer full of vegetarian foods cheeses and Milk my yelping friends pay attention to expiry dates on regular ol supermarket milk compared to organic (at least 1 month longer yes 1 month) there is a deli department fresh sandwichs made to order a fresh juice bar sushi fresh flowers they even carry a full line a Mrs Meyers soaps and cleaning supplies very friendly staff I bought organic 1/2 gallon Milk ,eggs bananas, organic celery, organic maple syrup,a bottle of REAL all natural (you can see the ginger in it) ginger ale and a beautiful(ready made) fresh filled with fresh veggies goodness blue cheese salad the parking situation on Jackson promises a hassle but you can always park in back there are little wagons back there Syosset was in deep need of a real grocery right in town and here it is I hope they stick around for a long time read more

While in a completely random location, J's Marketplace is a pretty cool spot. They have a pretty impressive selection of fruits and veggies for such a tiny store. Add on the fact that you can get Kombucha here (why is it so hard to find) and you knows I love the place. I haven't tried their PANINI's yet (I heard a rumor that DD next door said they can't make 'sandwiches'), but since everything else in the store is quality, I'm sure they hold some weight. I'll be back in for sure for a non-sammie and more veggies soon! Protip: Park in the back. There are plenty of spots and that seems to be the main entrance anyway. read more

Great little as I would say mom and pop business. Small store with a lot in it. Fruits and vegetables are fresh and really good. Great deli with ohh yes Boars Head meats. They can make hamburgers and have fresh juices to choose from. My favorite is the good selection of dried fruits they have. Prices are good and the staff is excellent. Parking is tough in the front of the store , But if you go around back there is plenty of parking. read more

What a convenient little market! Perfect for when you need some some lunch. They have a huge variety of hot and cold foods. Sandwiches, sushi, salads, and everything appeared to be really fresh. I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich for lunch and it was prepared quick and tasted really good. The deli guy and the cashier were both very sweet to me. They have all sorts of Asian food products here as well as vegan/ vegetarian products. This market caters to everyone and is easy to find. I parked in the front because there happened to be a spot but you can also park in the back! The prices here are a little higher but for the convenience of the place you can't complain. This place is extremely overpriced. But that's ok - people see prices and make a decision to pay or go somewhere else. J's marketplace overcharges people. They never give receipts, and if you pay with credit card - expect to be charged 5-7$ more on average. Sometimes $10! My daughter is a teen, she goes there sometimes to get last minute ingredients when she cooks, or to surprise her little brother with an ice cream. She is too sweet to argue and every time gets home upset. Last time she was charged 18$ for two packs of $5 ice creams. Cash! No receipt. I asked for a receipt myself on a couple occasions and immediately sales person forgot how to speak English. They abuse the situation knowing your train leaves, or you are a child, or it's late and you are too tired to argue. After last incident I would rather starve then go to this place again. read more

This is a very nice location with good quality foods to by. My only disappointment was I went to by bread and didn't find a wide selection of organic bread to buy. I love Daves Killer bread. Come here very often since I work right across the street.. they can e expensive but if you stick to the lunch special 5.99$ and 7.99$ it's actually quite good. Awesome market in Syosset. This place just opened this month and they have all sorts of goodies. There's a deli with fresh, made to order sandwiches, and a decent selection of sides, deli meats, handmade burgers and even a fresh juice bar. They have a large selection of produce as well as prepackaged fruit. Made daily salads, sushi, and small dishes like roasted asparagus and rigatoni. They have a good selection of gluten free goodies and snacks as well. Beer, soda, wine, water a little something for everyone. I bought half a dozen white roses the other day and they looked and smelled amazing. The staff is extremely friendly, and always eager to help you with anything you may need. Literally 2 minutes walking distance to the Syosset LIRR station so it's nice to pop in before your train ride. Let's hope they keep up the cleanliness and friendliness. This is more convenient for me than whole foods in Hicksville, and will hold me over until the Fresh Market opens in Woodbury. If you're in the area, definitely check it out. read more

Caveat Emptor! Buyer Beware. The prices here have always been steep here but you could always expect good service and care. You paid extra for the convenience of having something close by and last minute. But since the original owner sold the shop to a bunch of sleazy opportunists it has really gone downhill. The prices are higher, they charge more for using anything other than cash whether it's debit or credit and they have no qualms about charging you more than their listed price if they can get away with it. The new management is not friendly or hospitable and you always leave with a bad taste in your mouth and a need to go over your purchases to see if you haven't been overcharged. This morning I went to buy some staple goods, eggs, bacon, english muffins. The muffins had no date on it and I saw that it was a product that was not supposed to be resold. The butter was always overpriced and I decided to bite the bullet as it was 3.99 for 8 oz when you can get a pound (16 oz) of butter for 3.76 at the local supermarket. As I went to pay the total was close to 20 bucks for three items and I asked for a breakdown. I noticed that she had charged me 4.99 for the butter and I showed the unfriendly lady the price and she went and took down the price tag and said everything went up a dollar and told me not to buy it if I did not want it. This business can change their prices anytime they want as it is their business but let's be professional and deliberate. If prices go up then make sure you list it correctly and not waste people's time. I call BS and I would suspect that she got caught trying to scam me and decided to go the distance on shadiness. I would suggest that anyone who likes fairness and decency to avoid this business and prevent them from exploiting and profiting off this community and its good citizens. read more

I can't get over the way this market has zeroed in on all the BEST brands. Trickling Springs milk! Low-temperature pasteurization, unhomogenized so the cream rises, in glass so it tastes as good as if you lived on a farm! The produce is very fresh, the flowers are lovely and they last a long time. I can pretty much do all my shopping here. And there are little surprises like the pistachio shortbread cookies made with real butter. I almost missed the market because the outside is so unassuming. And who expects to actually find fresh organic food in Syosset? J's is the best! I sent my husband off with an I ncomplete list, then, obnoxiously called j's to ask them to figure out who he was and add Kerrygold butter. They were so nice and he returned with all the right items. I can't believe it, but this tiny store will be my go-to market. And I am a retired cooking instructor. read more

Great market! Great food! The cut fruits are the best in town. I used to get my fruits from Happy Farms but great that I found this place. It's just as good if not better. Definitely friendlier and better service. Doesn't look too inviting from the outside but, inside is stuffed with all kinds of groceries, hard to find drinks and beer! This store is great for its convenience. It's located right at the Syosset LIRR station, which makes it a very convenient spot to pick up something either on your way to or from work. The store has a very wide selection of organic and healthy specialty items, and the prices are understandably a bit high. My main beef is that I purchased two string cheeses, which were OU-D certified kosher, and the $1.00 price was about right, but the problem was that I purchased this in January 2016 and the expiration date reads NOV 2015! I should have read the date carefully before purchasing. It's a major turn off for any business to sell food 3 months past its prime. Thankfully, I didn't get sick after, but this was still very unnerving. I was pleasantly surprised to see them stock some kosher cheeses, from the Schtark brand (cholov yisroel), as well as a diet cheesecake from a cholov yisroel brand (that means a kosher keeper can eat these dairy items in the fullest confidence of their kosher status) that was yummy, and tasted like it was rich, despite only being 95 calories. I also purchased a San Pellegrino pomegranate-orange drink, as well as a Sabra hummus snack pack with pretzels. I'd definitely come back to spend more time to peruse the grocery offerings. Overall, a nice little market, but they need to be better about expiration dates. Also, the back entrance leading into the LIRR parking lot needs some major sprucing up.
