I have been coming to J's Bakery since I was a little girl. I realize they have changed owners but hoped the current owners would keep the same charm and customer service. WOW! I simply ordered cookies and cupcakes and had to change my order. I had to call back three times because the person (guessing the owner) was not there?? I would think a teenager in high school could take an order change. I just got off the phone with the business development manager making excuses and eventually yelling at me. Unbelievable. Mmmmmm ~ sugar rushes can be worth it! Our party of three feasted on cinnamon rolls, doughnuts and apple fritters. We skipped petit fours and cookies, despite their considerable temptation. Cinnamon rolls tasted freshly made ~ tender with a sweet balance of cinnamon to the icing sweetness. Hubs ordered black coffee and appreciated the free refill. If interested, Jitterbug coffee shop is in the same street mall (it makes for a nice pairing.) If you're grabbing coffee from Jitterbug, make sure to park in front of their section (or on the side) as the J's owner is said to dislike cars parked in her section if they're not visiting the bakery. On the other had, park wherever you want at this strip mall and do yourself the favor of getting any of the amazing sweet treats here! Slices of cakes, cookies ~ anything will be good! Months ahead of our daughters wedding I worked with Ryan to get an order together for a bridal party bubbles and brunch. I confirmed with Ryan several times including over the phone once I arrived in Pensacola. Imagine my horror when we arrived at the bakery to get our order and they said they had nothing for us. Ryan didn't answer my frantic calls or texts. Now I have family members scrambling all over town to pull this disaster together in 30 minutes. J's Bakery may be putting out delicious pastries in the store but I would highly recommend against trusting them to follow through with a catering order. Cannot express how upsetting this has been. None of the other bakeries could come through with a custom cake in a short time window. J's came through with a beautiful cake that was absolutely delicious. I had the worst experience with J's bakery. The owner is so rude. We hired J's bakery to bake my daughter's wedding cake for our destination wedding. The delivery guy called me because he couldn't get up to the venue, he needed the elevator code. I saw he called as he was leaving the voicemail. I immediately called him back. (Also all the other vendors we used never had to ask for the code. They all knew what the venue usually uses as the code there. J's is an established bakery and should have also) He then tells me he has to go back to the bakery because the cake fell over. I thought it was a joke. The only apology I got was a rude "sorry ma'am accidents happen. That is why you pay us to deliver, because if something happens we will fix it." He was back 3 hours later. After the ceremony and cocktail hour, just as we were about to have dinner. No other apology to my husband who I sent down to help him up. I didn't pay attention to the wedding cake that day. Only that it looked pretty. I tried a small piece of the cookies and cream. The cake didn't taste as good as we tried in January when we came to have a cake tasting. Then when we got home 2 days later I went to cut the cake to give to my daughter when she got home from her honeymoon. One cake was incorrect, the one I didn't try. So I thought I'm going to get ahold of the owner, I had his business card from January. I then listened to voicemail the delivery guy left when he needed the code to get in, it was so rude. He basically said if you want your cake you better call me back. The delivery guy, is the owner Ryan Thomas. And he "delivered" the cake out of the trunk of his orange bmw. I have texts to prove that. Why didn't he use the delivery truck? It was a big enough cake. Why put it in your vehicles trunk? I've contacted him a few times. He first called me back and was so rude and asked what I wanted from him because he provided a cake and he had money in it. I asked for refund of the incorrect cake or refund of the $175 delivery fee, not the full amount I paid. I then just moved on to the incorrect cake, he said I'll have to talk to my baker and hung up on me. He then proceeded to send me a text with the order form trying to prove me wrong. He said didn't you have a problem with the cookie pieces. I said not in the cookies and cream cake it was supposed to. I said the white cake had it in the icing inside. He said I understand. Then never replied to my 2 texts I sent 2 other days. Finally I sent 1 more. I said I guess if you don't want to resolve this with us, we will let our reviews do the talking. He then came at me with a text saying that the person cutting the cake probably used the same knife to cut the white cake after the chocolate and that is why there is cookie pieces in it. The cake was cut at home by me with a different knife. And you can definitely see cookie pieces in the icing. Not because of a knife. He told me to prove it. And that I just had a story and was expecting him to pay me. So I explained when I found the cookie pieces and sent the pics. Also told him the caterer was careful cutting the cake because we had guests with food allergies and I saw her being careful with things. He never replied after I sent the pics. And then I texted him the next to see if he got the pictures and he is now ignoring me. I get accidents happen. And if he would have been apologetic the day of the wedding, I probably would have looked over the incorrect cake. I even thanked him for supplying a cake for our guests even though it was 3 hours late. Ryan has been so rude to deal with, doesn't care that it caused so much stress on the wedding day. Or that the cake I paid good money for had one cake that was wrong. I would not recommend this bakery to anyone. It's sad that this will forever be stuck in my head about the most beautiful wedding we had for my daughter. I have included our texting convo. Didn't say anything figured the artwork was more extensive so no prob. Cake tasted horrible. Very musty taste. Cake was supposed to have cream cheese. Guess they thought buttercream was better. The pastries were dry, crumbly, and honestly tasted like they had been sitting out for days. The texture was chalky, and it felt like I was chewing on cardboard rather than enjoying a freshly made treat. On top of the disappointing baked goods, the customer service was absolutely terrible. The staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful, barely acknowledging me when I walked in. When I asked questions about the menu, they acted like I was inconveniencing them. There was no effort to be helpful or friendly - it was as if they were doing me a favor by allowing me to be there. I highly recommend saving your money and skipping this place. It smelled delicious when I walked in the store. So, I stood in front of the menu and was informed that it was only a catering menu. I was informed they did not serve sandwiches from that menu. It was about 1PM. I was also informed that baked goods must be ordered in advance, so if I wanted something I could choose from what was in the bakery case. I was getting a phone call and decided to try another restaurant for lunch as well as for a cake. Two cakes were put together and driven to our house by a lady who said she was on her way to urgent care . Cakes didn't look like what was ordered. Looked slapped together. I bought gingerbread men cookies a few days ago and they were horrible! They did not even taste like gingerbread! The tops were tan like gingerbread, but they were light yellow underneath like a cookie. This is NOT what gingerbread cookies look like normally. Not the ones of my childhood that had raisins for buttons and eyes. And you would think that they would be delicious at $2.50 per cookie! I was beyond disappointed when we tasted them that night. I went into the bakery last Saturday and ordered 10 petit fors and 6 cream horns for $30. She used a box much too small for the petit fors so she crammed one in the box with cream horns which smashed it and it was covered with cream and powdered sugar, and broke two cream horns in half. The tiny box with the nine other squeezed in petit fors, two more were smashed. I tried calling for the manager but they are never in and left my phone number twice and no call returned. As much as we love j's their premium price and smashed goods are unacceptable. Be careful when buying here make sure they give big enough boxe for items. read more

I've been several times as this bakery is in my neighborhood and it is very hit or miss. I've tried several different desserts and pastries. The best was a sugar donut. It was fried to perfection and the amount of sugar on the donut did not overwhelm the flavor of the batter. Everything else I've tried was just too sweet. There is no flavor except for sugar. I just tried a cherry danish and in my experience they're tart. Not this one. I only had 2 bites before I threw it away. read more

J's Bakery did an AMAZING job on this cake for my coworker! She recently transferred into the Space Force. (Crazy!!!) We wanted to celebrate such an awesome day with a fantastic cake and J's made that happen. There were tons of compliments on both the look and flavor of the cake- best in Pensacola! It was also really easy to get a vision across for the look of the cake. Turned out amazing. J's bakery did NOT disappoint! We pre-ordered the cake several months in advance because of Covid making our local bakeries (Panama City) be swamped with weddings being rescheduled. Everyone at our 1 year olds party loved the desserts: 2 tier cake (top vanilla and bottom chocolate), dozen doughnuts, and a dozen cookies. They were absolutely gorgeous and did not disappoint in taste. We did have about 2 guests that said cookies needed a bit more flavor, but overall def 5 star desserts! J's was recommended to us and surely a place we will order again from. Also, packed just right for the journey here.
