Overall all went Great! Very happy that our expectations were meet, the weekly group training is really helping us to work with Milo, and develop a closer bond. We noticed a wonderful change in Milo's attitude he's no longer jumping when we come home he's more calm more well behaved waits for his commands. The 4week Board and train was well worth it! We can't wait for what the future has for Us and (Milo) through our weekly Group training class. I sincerely recommend JPK9 to any one who wants a more well behaved, obedient loving and loyal pet. read more

Our 2 year old Samoyed Kumo died from a heat stroke while under the care of JPK9. He was enrolled in the 4 week board and training program and died 20 days in. We filed a report with animal control, but they never visited the premises. JPK9 has since ignored all forms of contact I've tried to make (email, phone, instagram, text). The trainer Ryan found Kumo unresponsive in the kennel after being left alone for several hours. He made no attempts to seek veterinary care, and instead made the diagnosis himself and called the owner, Joshua Pennucci who advised to leave his body alone "out of respect". The necropsy later revealed that Kumo's internal temperature was 105.5 over 5 hours after he passed, which the vet estimates would have been around 114 at the time of death. When asked why no veterinary care was sought after, the trainer said he was only following the directions of Mr. Pennucci and when Mr. Pennucci was asked, he said he wasn't there so he could not make the judgment call. The lack of accountability and professionalism was truly horrific. I have been advised by legal counsel not to share this story if I wish to pursue legal action, but after seeing other similar stories this is far too important not to raise. Kumo deserved better. read more

Perfect! Here's the final full review ready to use: I can't say enough good things about JPK9! They truly take pride in what they do -- you can tell they genuinely love dogs and know exactly how to treat them with care and respect. The 4-week board and train program made such a huge difference for my dog, Boba. She came back more confident, well-mannered, and happier overall. Vic gave her not only structure but also the kind of support that helped build her confidence. Another amazing bonus is that after the program, you can join group classes for free! This really helps reinforce the training and keeps everything consistent. It's truly an incredible value and I couldn't be more grateful for their dedication and expertise. Highly recommend to anyone who wants their dog to grow, learn, and shine! read more

We rescued a 2yo French bulldog (Ms Bee) in the summer and she came from an abusive environment. She started showing signs of aggression towards other dogs big or small and we weren't prepared to have a reactive dog with two of our dogs. Then we found JP K-9 training and was on waitlist for 3 months. It was worth the wait! Our dog just graduated after 4wks of board/train and it was night & day. Two weeks since coming home and it was all worth it. We are grateful to JPK9 and Ryan who spent hours getting the foundations in place. Bee got a second chance & enjoys the group classes that are instrumental to her going forward. We recommend JPK-9 Training to anyone who's looking for positive results and trusted team. Best training in the Bay! I took my puppy Sony to JPK9 as a friend recommended it to me and now I can't stop recommending them to everyone I know with a dog. They offer boarding and training with a 2 or 4 week program and unlimited lifetime group classes after graduation. What I really like about Jay and his team is that they really care deeply about all of the dogs they train. Your dog stays with them for the duration of the boarding, and they can help with a variety of focus areas. I took my puppy Sony to them because she would always pull on walks and didn't really listen when she was out in public. When we picked her up after the 4 week program, I was in shock. Our trainer was Ryan and he shared updates daily through social media and I could follow along with her progress. Now, Sony can recall, stay in a down while we walk away, and she no longer pulls. I'm grateful for JPK9 and if I end up getting another dog, I will be using them again. read more

Well , as soon as I picked up my Price from Vic I had to do a review. I know Jay for a very long time (before he started dog training business) so there is definitely was a trust between us. I always knew Jay as a sand up guy in whatever he does. So the only thing I can be upset about for not tanking my Toy Poodle earlier when he was younger . Prince now is 5 years old. We got him in 2020 as a covid baby so there was no socialization that we could have done. Prince was very anxious in public. Leash pooling, dog snapping all that crazy stuff. Finally we were going for a 2 weeks vacation and Jay moved some things and accepted Prince for a 4 weeks Board and Train program. He was with a trainer name Vic and he was great. He was posting videos of progress multiple times per day. We watched every video even when we were overseas. Today is a 3rd day that Prince is home and let me tell you. It's a different dog. In public he is just like a perfect dog walking next to me with no leash pull whatsoever. I love it. Totally neutral to other dogs and I am just so proud of him. I started following tips immediately (3 hours after I picked him up I was already outside doing sits and downs) Free classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays are perfectly line up with my schedule so we are planning to attend those to keep him engage as much as we can. Thank you Vic. Thank you Jay and the whole JPK9 team!! Mironenko family. read more

We have a 7-month-old pit mix named Harley. As much as we loved him, things were getting tough--his behavior was becoming more aggressive, and we were struggling to control him. When we adopted him, we had no idea he was a pit mix, and we did everything we could: training classes, socialization, every recommended harness and collar, but nothing worked. We were heartbroken and out of options. We were seriously considering returning him to the humane society, which devastated us. Then a friend recommended Jay at JPK9. She had amazing results with their 4-week board and train program, so we gave him a call. Jay called me back right away, listened patiently to all my concerns, and explained the program thoroughly. His honesty and confidence gave us hope when we had almost none left. After Harley completed the 4-week board and train, we couldn't believe the transformation. We got our dog back, and with manners! He's still a puppy, and we know we have to continue working with him, but thanks to JPK9's ongoing, unlimited group classes (held twice a week), we feel supported every step of the way. Our trainer, Vic, was phenomenal--he posted updates and videos throughout the training, and we looked forward to watching Harley's progress as a family. We never once worried, because we knew he was in great hands. We can't say enough good things about JPK9 and Vic. The team is passionate, professional, and truly committed to helping dogs and their families. We're so grateful, and proud to now be part of the JPK9 family. read more

We sent our 6-month-old Golden Retriever, Daikon, to JPK9 and were paired with Vic for a two-week board and train. The results were incredible. Daikon came back a well-behaved, much more manageable puppy. Before training, he would constantly pull during walks, but now he heels and our walks are a breeze. Even though he was still a puppy, we knew how important it was to build a strong foundation early. He learned "place," "heel," and made big improvements with crate training. It was a total game changer. We used to not be able to leave for more than an hour because he would bark in the crate. Now he's fully crate trained and calm when we're away. We received updates every day through Instagram stories, and we always knew he was in good hands. After the two weeks, we also had a follow-up lesson with Vic to make sure we could continue practicing everything Daikon learned during the board and train. I highly recommend JPK9. read more

We have a now 3 yr old American Doberman named Kane. When I tell you we searched high and low of places to help with his reactivity. We looked for over a year then we came across JPK9 and I inquired and got a call no from Josh. He answered all my questions and my concerns we then booked a couple of days later. Kane was off for 4 weeks and his trainer was Kae. She was very sweet and informative. Till this day at the group classes she answers any question and checks up. I wanna to shout out the whole JPK9 team from the other trainers to Josh and Jess who helps with boarding :) 100/10 recommend to the point where I've recommended them to my coworkers and anyone who acknowledges how well Kane behaves in house / in public settings. Everything has been simple from the initial start and don't get me going on the group classes that are offered!! Thank you to JPK9 for helping us out and Kane :) read more

Our dog Deuce went to JPK9 in September of 2022, and it ended up being the best decision we could have possibly made. I found out I was pregnant the day we picked him up from his four week board and train and he was a changed man! He went to Vic with some reactivity, major attachment issues, and is quite the big baby. We automatically saw a change in our walks, his at home behavior, and his reactivity with other dogs and people. Here we are a few years later still leaning on the training that the JPK9 team created for us. We still go to classes when we can, which is a HUGE plus with the training. We still reach out any time we have questions about any of Deuces behaviors or his overall well being and are always met with support from Jay and Vic. The cost may seem like a lot at first, but the dedication, discipline and love your dog will get from the team along with the lifetime group trainings make it beyond worth it. The way we saw it, this money was going towards ensuring that Deuce lived the best life possible. The training may start with your dog, but it's really for you to learn to protect and advocate for your dog and their safety. We highly recommend JPK9 and have already referred others to them. They set Deuce up to be an amazing big brother and great dog that we can bring with us everywhere. read more

My two-year-old German Shepherd Odin, who has a high prey drive and was reactive to everything, recently completed a Board & Train with Kae with JPK9. I cannot recommend them enough! Kae took the time to understand my dog's specific triggers and worked with us on tailored strategies to manage and reduce his reactivity. The progress we've made is incredible--my dog is now more focused, responsive, and calm in situations that used to be overwhelming for both of us. Kae also provided me with practical tips and exercises to continue reinforcing good behavior at home and in public, which has made a world of difference. We get endless compliments on how well trained he is! If you have a dog with similar challenges, or any dog in need of training, I wholeheartedly recommend the JPK9 team. The results speak for themselves, and I'm so grateful to have found such skilled and compassionate trainers. read more

Best decision of my life & my dog's life. Sent my 2 year yr old Doberman to JPK9 for their 4 week board & train & she came back a completely different dog. She ACTUALLY listens now & has more obedience than she's probably ever had. She struggled with reactivity, walking on a leash, listening to basic commands & overall was an anxious dog. Since she's been back from training I haven't had any issues with reactivity towards other dogs. She walks well on the leash & heels. She seems more at peace in the home & not anxious, she listens to her commands & can sleep comfortably in her crate (she hated her crate prior to training). Thank you JPK9 for giving my dog a better quality of life (and me). I would 100% recommend !! read more

JPK9 is the best of the best! I sent my 8-year-old Malinois for a 4-week Board and Train program a couple of years ago, and it was one of the best investments I made. My dog needed a tune-up with basic obedience and socialization. I received multiple updates from Kae, which gave me the confidence that she was caring for my pup like her own. She came back confident and with a solid foundation for me to build upon. Josh, the owner, clearly outlined what to expect from JPK9's services, emphasizing the importance of accountability for us as responsible dog owners and providing guidance on establishing boundaries that empower our dog to thrive and be her best self. I traveled up from San Diego because I knew my dollar would go further with this team. Since then, I've also used their services for standard boarding while I was traveling. read more

Our dog Tank has all the characteristics of a stubborn Bull Terrier. Anyone who knows about this dog breed knows they are a special kind of stubborn. We are the classic case of owners who gave their dog too much love, affection and freedom. Tank has always been a great dog, but he became reactive and rarely listened to obedience commands. At the time we considered B&T, we had a baby and Tank became protective of her on walks, reactive to both dogs and humans, and it started to become too stressful to take him out. We decided to invest in a B&T program before our baby could walk. When we were looking for a Boarding facility - it was important for us to find a place that wouldn't lock up our dog for hours in a facility, turn the lights off, train him twice a day, and provide mediocre reports only to do it all again the next day. Some places charged thousands of dollars just to interact with your dog for a couple of hours a day. You should know that your dog is in good hands with Jay and his team. They integrate your dog in their day to day activities. Your dog lives with the trainer in their home. And they don't just abandon your dog. Vic (Bless his soul) was paired up with Tank. Vic worked on gaining Tank's trust by showing him the world isn't a scary place and there isn't a need to always be on guard and reactive. Vic was patient with Tank and gave him the tools to be more confident on walks. When we received video reports - it was incredible because Tank was doing things we didn't even know he was capable of doing. Vic gave Tank a solid foundation of simple, but useful commands. Tank held his commands longer and in public. He was able to coexist with other dogs and humans on walks and in public spaces like the park, shopping centers, and on group walks. Tank even did some agility work. It was incredible to see him climb picnic tables, playground structures, and even get a workout in at Home Depot. Tank even held his commands with his trainer out of sight and from huge physical distances. Tank also has allergies. I thought it was especially caring that Vic would text us to let us know how he was doing and what he could do to make Tank more comfortable during his B&T. After B&T was done, Tank came home less reactive, more willing to go on walks, and he thoroughly enjoyed spending alone time in one place in a settled position. He learned to coexist with other humans and dogs on our walks and has been particularly careful with coexisting with our baby. He isn't dragging Mom around the block anymore. To be honest, we weren't even sure if our dog wanted to come home because it looked like he really enjoyed his time at Vic's house. To speak to Tank's trainer Vic... he is an exceptional trainer. He understands bully breeds and their tendencies. This is probably what sets this team apart from other dog trainers. They don't take a one size fits all breeds because they truly understand the dog's mannerisms and characteristics. Vic was very patient with us when we had questions and has been a great resource for us even after. He gave us lots of pointers and advice on our dog specifically interacting with our baby. He ended up training us more so than our dog at the end of the program. He cares for your dog like his own pack. Vic is hands down the best. Jay, Vic and his team gave us all tools to be successful now that Tank is home. Tank has trained us to be better owners. We have been implementing everything that Tank learned and Tank is always so eager to show us his skills and knowledge. Even after your board and train is done - the team is still willing to assist you to ensure your success. We live too far to attend group classes, but we love having the option if we need it. We also now only take our dog to board with Jay. We drive three hours to see him because we believe in his mission and business ethics. Our dog has stayed with Jay at least 2 or 3 times now and Jay takes good care of him. His team is the only group we trust now to watch our dog. Jay has a long waitlist for his program. We waited 6 months, but it was worth it. We have driven to San Jose from Sacramento numerous times to only have our dog be with Jay. They are the best for a reason. They know dogs. They understand dogs. And they want to see dog owners succeed and be successful. Don't hesitate to start. It's the best thing you can do for your dog, but mainly for yourself. Jay and his team is no bullshit. They are family and we are incredibly grateful for him and his team for allowing us to be a part of their family. We recommend everyone to Jay and will continue to do so. read more

This is Brinkley-Kai. He graduated two years ago from board and train with JPK9. He's our third Golden Retriever, but the first we've enrolled in such an extensive training program--and what a difference it has made. Jay and his team created the solid foundation for a calm, non-reactive, and well-mannered dog--not just at home, but out in the real world, around other dogs, and even near loud machinery. Fast forward two years later: Brinkley is still such a well-behaved boy. But let me be clear--this isn't a "drop off your dog and get him back perfect" situation. The real key to success is the owner's commitment to build on that foundation. That means daily practice and taking advantage of JPK9's weekly group classes, which are offered twice a week. Just look at him--calm and steady in a down stay around lawn mowers, leaf blowers, and as other dogs pass by. Is your pup's reactive, fearful, or aggressive? I highly recommend JPK9. They are truly the best in the Bay Area. I even referred my GSM--and his two kids graduate this week! Thank you, Jay. The investment was absolutely worth it. read more

We were leaving on vacation for 2 weeks over Thanksgiving week of 2024. I originally had Reese, our 1 year old Frenchie mix scheduled for boarding at Petsmart. After some contemplating, I started to look into board and train and after a few Google hits, I came across JPK9. Best choice we could've made for our pup. Reese had some training and I did what I could with my experience but it wasn't enough. I reached out on Yelp and Jay reached out within an hour and asked me what I was looking for. He explained the whole process and after about a week we felt comfortable using his company to care for our baby. The week before his board and train, Ryan, Reese's trainer, reached out to schedule drop off time and supplied a list of what we needed to send with Reese. After our trip, we met with Ryan for about an hour and a half as he went over what was covered during training. Ryan was very thorough with his explanation and we walked away with Reese feeling competent enough to continue his training at home. We were extremely happy with JPK9 and the whole process of drop off and pick up. Reese came home very well behaved and receptive of his training. I think one of the best parts of JPK9 is the support after B&T with weekly classes in public locations. I can't thank Jay , Ryan and the whole JPK9 staff enough for the amazing job they do with our fur babies!! I recommend them as often as I can and will continue doing so because I believe in their mission. read more

Working along side Jay has been a very great experience and very help for our daily life's and our dog karma herself. We had karma do a one month B&T with Jay. Prior to the B&T karma was always stressed and very unsure of many things around her or anywhere she was at. She would always pull on walks and bark at other dogs when they were around. She would become quickly distracted of me by other animals or would try to run off after them. Afterwards Karma came back more confident than ever, is now able to hold her commands in different settings, and around different distractions. Walking her has became way easier now that she no longer pulls and is more obedient even around other dogs or animals. Jay set a great foundation for us to work off of and continue teaching karma many other things. Jay also trained us how to handle her prior to Karma coming home and gave us different tools to further communicate with our dog and further our relationship with karma. I would highly recommended JPK9 B&T to anyone who has any issues with their companions because their work over at JPK9 speaks for itself. read more

They boarded and trained our dog who's an older (10 human years at the time) pitbull mix. She came in with issues socializing with other dogs. Particularly that she would be really nervous, vocal and sometimes aggressive around them. After just one month, she left able to sit, stay, come (callbacks) and do other really useful and fun things in addition to addressing her social issues. Working with Jay's team even just once gets you access to their community as well which is extremely beneficial and our dog loves it. They train weekly in groups so she remains on top of her game and has fun at the same time. I honestly can't think of a better benefit. This alone is extremely worth the expense. They are very professional and your dog will be in great hands. Highly recommend. read more

JPK9 is the only group we trust to watch and train our dog and future dogs. We sent our dog to board and train at 6 months and it was the best decision we made. We created such a solid foundation for him and his is now turning 5 and we constantly get told how well mannered and trained he is. We can take him anywhere and we know he has all the tools and training to succeed. We learned how to train and handle our dogs breed and how agility is one of his favorite ways to work him physically and mentally. The classes that come along after you board and train are so helpful especially after just completing training. You are able to work on socializing, work on any struggles, and get good feedback on what you need to continue to work on. This group of trainers explain every step of the training process, support your questions, and guide you through any struggles you have with training. When we go on vacation we know when he is boarding with JPK9 that he is given 1on1 attention, love, and not aimlessly walking around all day with a handful of other dogs. read more

Best in the business. This is not just "dog training". Working with JPK9 is joining a community. They went out of their way to fit me in and the first thing jay told me over the phone is "that's what it's all about, helping people out." With this type of business moto how could you go wrong. I did the 4 week board and train with Vic which was great my dog came back more eager to learn and ready to work than ever. Then after that I went to my first group session I was little hesitant because I've never done one before but it was very controlled and overall a great experience. From the second I got there being greeted by my first name all the way till when I left. Like I said earlier for sure best in the business. read more

We contacted JPK9 due to our 2 year old pittie mix Leela being reactive to other dogs and our desire to travel with her more frequently and socialize her more. Our trainer Victor was so awesome! We did the 4 week program. It was hard for us to imagine being without her that long, but it was so worth it! Vic gave her a solid foundation of training making it so easy for us to continue with the training at home seamlessly. You can tell he has a great way with dogs. The lifetime group classes are so helpful to reinforce the commands and deal with situations that may arise in real time with the trainers there to help. It's a great way to socialize the dogs, stay on top of their training and so fun to meet and learn from other dogs and owners there too! The owner Josh was so accommodating and professional when I contacted him to inquire about their service. We were nervous for the drop off and parting with Leela but he handled it so great and made it quick and easy. They stay in communication with dog owners via instagram stories which we eagerly looked forward to each day- multiple times a day! This made it easier for us and we could learn commands and training ahead of picking her up. Leela came back to us after her month stay with Victor a more confident and obedient dog and we couldn't be happier with JPK9's program. Thank you!!! read more

I sent my puppy to Jay and his team for the 2 week program beginning of December 2024. She was about 8 months at the time and she is an American Pitbull Terrier. I was referred to JPK9 by my former softball coach because i saw results from her and her dog, Deuce, I knew I wanted to send my puppy also! Immediately after filling out my information through the website Jay called me after literally 20 minutes! He was very kind and answered all questions I had on the phone and right away set us up with the dates to send her. Stormi was with Ryan for the 2 week program and she LOVES Ryan. I saw immediate change in her behavior with no pulling on walks, more engagement and focus, knowing what a down is and so much more. I was able to see my girl thrive over the 2 weeks through instagram posts which is very nice. Now, we attend the FREE life time classes during the week and it is amazing seeing my dog continue to thrive! And of course every class we go to Stormi loves to see her bestie Ryan. My family and I are even going on a trip soon and using Jay as boarding for Stormi because he and his team are who I trust to keep my pup safe and be treated like family! Thank you Jay, Ryan and team!! We love you guys! read more

I sent my 4 year old German Shepherd Kaya to Jay's 4 week board and train. When I first got Kaya she was an extremely anxious and nervous dog. She was very nervous in any new environment, around new people, and around dogs. That anxiety caused a lot of reactions towards dogs and sometimes people. After she came back from her board and train with Kae, Kaya had basically no reactivity and her confidence had skyrocketed. She is now a dog that can be taken out in public with no problem and has incredible recall, heel, and down stays. It was definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made. On top of the amazing dog I got back from the board and train, the unlimited group classes after graduation add to the level of Kaya's training. Another big plus is that after graduation you will be able to board your dog with JPK9. Boarding with Jay is not only simple but it is big relief to know your dog is being well taken care of and having a lot of fun! read more

There were only a few commands for us to learn so it's not complicated or confusing. We no longer have gates up in our house. We no longer have an angry anxious dog. Joining the JPK9 Family has been the best decision we could have made for our 1 1/2 year old Australian Shepherd Atlas. Atlas had the pleasure of staying with Kae for his 4-week board and train! We signed Atlas up for JPK9 to work on his excitement-based dog reactivity and to clean up some of his obedience. We were nervous at first with sending our boy away for a month of course, as most owners would be, but with the multiple daily videos that Kae and the other trainers posted, we were always reassured that our little guy was in the best hands. Kae was incredible throughout the entire process. We sent a few goals for her to work on with Atlas while he was on his B&T, and she did a fantastic job and we couldn't be happier with the progress he has made with her assistance. She was super informative with us upon our take home session and continues to always be an amazing resource for us whenever we need guidance. What sets JPK9 apart from the rest is the training never stops. The 2x weekly group classes have been huge aids to assist with Atlas' dog neutrality in public environments. Being a part of these classes is so much more than just being a part of a group or club. They create an environment where you're treated like family and it really shows how much the trainers care about the dogs. To us personally, the best part about being part of this family is not just the work that they do with our dogs, but the continued support and guidance that they offer to ensure our pups get to experience a life at its fullest potential! read more

Best investment I made for my dog! After a 4 week board and train. I saw a major change in my Rottweiler Sancho ,who used to be dog/people aggressive, now I am able to take him on hikes , family trips , Home Depot and even just on a walk around my neighborhood with confidence. Not only that , after the 4 weeks you get lifetime group classes to keep your dog in check after the board in train , and while your waiting for your pup the 4 weeks you get stay updated with their daily posts on social media about their progress. That's what makes them different from other board and train company's. NOT at no facility , where they leave them over night , JPK9 brings your pups to their house , and is with them 24/7! Thats what made me feel better to leave my pup with some "strangers" , but now I could call all JPK9 members my good friends ! And could talk to them about stuff non dog related, these people are very friendly and respectful and always have open ears to listen to any problems or questions you have about your pup .Highly recommend JPK9 to everyone who asks about how well behaved Sancho is out in public. If you are looking for a dog trainer who is in the Bay Area, I highly recommend JPK9. read more
