Based on a recommendation from patients of Dr. Patel at JP Orthodontics, in 98 my oldest daughter had braces put on by JP Orthodontics, Dr. Patel. Then in 99 my youngest daughter had braces put on by the same; then me (the Mom) in 00 had braces put on by the same. My youngest daughter was the most challenging and had the longest time in braces. When we had questions, Dr. Patel took the time necessary to answer our questions. He was always honest, sincere and polite. Our appointments, we were welcomed by name when we walked in the door - which I found amazing with the number of patients Dr. Patel always had. We rarely had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen - I was always pleasantly surprised. Based on the number of years the three of us received treatment, I was extremely satisfied with the treatment, the results and all the staff. For all three of us from start to finish, it was a very positive experience, and still remains very positive. All three of us receive compliments continuously on our beautiful smiles - by friends, strangers and dentists. Just this past week, after 12 years, I had to visit JP Orthodontics to have my permanent retainer replaced - it had fallen out. I called late Fri night to leave a message hoping I could get in on Sat am (since I have this day off work), when I was listening to their message, it said they would not be open again till Monday. (Ok, no big deal.) I was shocked when I got a call on Sunday, squeezing me in the late afternoon so I wouldn't have to alter my work schedule. I showed up on time, was greeted by name and seated within a few minutes of arriving. Dr Patel was very engaging, he remembered me - asked me about my daughers and what they were doing now. He replaced my retainer and I was on my way. As I left JP Orthodontics, I wondered how I could thank him for really being a part of my confidence and my daughters confidence, through his work which results in us smiling proudly. After extensive research and interviews with other orthodontics, including one "top rated ortho in chicago area" -- we went with Dr. Patel. I put in hours and hours, talking with friends about their experiences, their orthodontists, as well as reading various literature and information on the internet, as I was very nervous about anything dealing with my son's jaw and teeth. Not to mention, after seeing his xray of canine teeth stuck horizontal, I wondered how they could be pulled down without major work and extreme discomfort. The other top rated orthdontists used a proven system, yet one that was outdated. My son's canine teeth were stuck up very high in his gums, unable to come down on their own. The other orthodontists suggested spacers, braces as well as headgear to deal his issues of misaligned teeth, overbite and teeth "stuck" in gums. They still said that the teeth may not come down and said at that point, they would have to cut through his gum and place a brace with a chain to pull it down. It was less expensive than Dr. Patel, but in the long run it would have cost more, if the first treatment did not bring his teeth down. We have now been with Dr. Patel for a year. My son's canine teeth came down perfectly with the use of just braces and a wire...(Damon system) and is on track to have them on through the end of 2013. His teeth are on track to look perfect and his jaw is aligning beautfully. I am so thrilled that we went with Dr. Patel.His credentials are excellent and is well known around town for using cutting edge tools. Dr Patel is so much fun that my kids actually look forward to going. He did my braces along with both of my daughters and I love having nice teeth for the first time in my life. He explains why he is doing everything he does and provides truly personalized care. My case was actually pretty complicated. I was born missing whatever the teeth between your front teeth and incisors are. Had the baby ones, but no adult ones waiting in the wings. Additionally, one of my incisors never came in and the other came in above my other teeth. So I walked into Dr Patel's office with 4 baby teeth in my mouth (at age 34!), 1 impacted incisor, and one not even in line with my other teeth. I didn't want implants, and he worked around that to get me what I wanted without the implants I didn't want. He also does all this extra stuff to make the end result perfect. My oldest daughter has pretty high anxiety and it can be difficult to work with her and he is exceeding patient with her and even manages to talk her down a lot, which is something I still struggle with and I have known her for 16 years. read more

Dr. Jay Patel is truly an artist and I highly recommend him. At 50 years old I decided to get braces and I am very grateful that I chose Dr. Patel as my orthodontist/artist. The work that he did turned out 10 times better than I had ever imagined that it would. He was always open and honest about what he was going to do and how long it would take. In addition, I watched him interact with his patients, both young and mature and he was always professional. My particular situation required some things to make my smile better, like bonding. Because he just wanted to make everything absolutely perfect he went ahead and did them and didn't charge me for them. Both of my children are patients of JP Orthodontics, Dr. Patel, and it is amazing what fantatic results we've had! My son had such a strong overbite that he could barely close his mouth. He now has a beautiful smile and has gained more confidence than ever before! My daughter's teeth never looked bad to me, however, amazing the difference after Dr. Patel fixed her "bite". Absolutely love this office and it's staff. After putting my 3 kids through braces my husband and myself decided to get our own smiles back.
