JP did a wonderful job of DJing my wedding last month! He provided music for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. I was worried about how we would transition from site to site, but he did everything seamlessly. Also, I was worried about the music being too quite or not clear at during the ceremony, but this sounded great as well. My husband and I really didn't give him too much direction to go off of. So we have been to a few weddings where DJP has been the DJ. I can honestly say some of the best dancing I've ever done has been at those weddings. The weddings have included a huge variety of settings: Filipino weddings, younger people, older people, country cowboy types of weddings, and I've had nothing but great times. I found JP through Yelp - and I am so glad I did! Planning a wedding can be very stressful, but as soon as we met JP we felt like we had been friends forever and knew he was going to be perfect for the job! Being from Sweden, a wedding is slightly different than here - we are used to partying until the break of dawn. Looking for venues and vendors who were flexible and open to new ways of doing things was definitely a challenge but JP went out of his way to make things work - he was so helpful leading up to the wedding, helping us with rentals since he knew we were super busy with friends and family in town. It was also a challenge mixing mine and my husbands music preferences (country & house...) but we both ended up having our favorite songs played and everyone loved it! On top of being an amazing DJ he went out of his way and helped out during the dinner itself when the caterer messed up and didn't put wineglasses on the tables! Since we had many guests from different countries and that never even met before, it was important to us that it was a casual and relaxed environment where the wedding itself was more of a fun party. And it sure was! The dance floor was full pretty much the whole time (until people started jumping in the pool...) and many of our guests told us it was the best and most fun wedding they had ever been to. We had the pleasure of having J.P. DJ for our wedding 2 weeks ago in Palm Springs and we couldn't be happier with his mix and emcee skills! DJ is such an important job in a wedding as this person will make announcements and thread the event together. From my search of DJs, how this DJ presents himself was just as important as his music skills. We were so lucky to have found J.P., who not only has such a talent in music but is also the most personable and presentable emcee. The last thing you want at your wedding is a cheesy or over-enthusiastic DJ that embarrasses you. We checked out his website for sample mixes and they were all right up our alley. I'm quite picky with music and can smell the first sign of a stale mix. He seems very versatile in different styles of music, but what we gravitated to were the ones with a genuine and whimsical style, the exact opposite of stuffy, traditional and predictable wedding songs. Everyone has different music taste, what's important is if your DJ has the chops to craft an experience you will enjoy. And J.P. did a superb job for us. There's such a variety of artists in the mix to keep things interesting but it's a hit after hit for us. I like EVERY song in the mix and so did our guests. JP was delightful to work with from start to finish! He was super responsive when we first reached out to him, made the payment a snap, and of course was a great DJ for our wedding. He even sent us the custom mix he had made for cocktail hour afterward. He handled pre-ceremony, processional, recessional & cocktail hour very seamlessly. I kept saying "oh I love this song!" all night, and caught several people singing along even though there wasn't a ton of dancing in the beginning. I could go on forever with reasons why you should hire JP but here are a few very important ones: -Professionalism: I contacted a lot of wedding DJs during the planning phase of my wedding and one common thread between them all was a staggering lack of professionalism manifested through sluggish communication, unexplained price fluctuations, and a general unwillingness to take input on music. You will not find any of these things with JP. If you are planning a wedding and you go with JP, I promise you will not come across an easier person to work with. -Musical Sensibility: I love music and it was very important to me to find a DJ that was going to create the musical experience I was looking for. JP took input and produced an evening of music that I can only describe as perfect. If you're looking for a sloppy, forty-year-old white dude that is going to play 'shout' and say something stupid into the microphone every third song, then JP is certainly not for you. -Stress Reliever: In most wedding situations, you need your DJ to handle the flow of the wedding and make sure things happen when and how they are supposed to. DJ JP McLeod was nothing short of perfect as the DJ for our wedding in San Diego. If you need an incredible DJ who was able to handle complicated ceremonies and "tear the roof off" for the reception - hire DJ JP McLeod. I chose JP McLeod based off of his positive reviews and awesome mixes on his website. And man, I'm so happy that I did. Our wedding had Indian and Filipino ceremonies, and we relied on JP to play music throughout the key points of each ceremony. In in the Indian ceremony, one of my uncles decided to randomly play music off a cell phone, and JP was able to maneuver that awkward transition without any issues. He flawlessly handled a very difficult task in DJ'ing both ceremonies. His cocktail hour mix was also fantastic. For the dinner and reception, I generally gave JP an idea of what we were looking for and he handled the rest. It was evident in our conversations that JP McLeod has an extensive knowledge of many musical genres. He took my basic requests and played Hip-Hop, Pop, Oldie's, Rock, Indian jams, and much more in an incredible set that led guests to twirl their shirts in the air in celebration. If that is not evidence of a great DJ, I do not know what is. Most importantly, JP is a professional when it comes to customer service. Considering how complicated our wedding DJ request was, I was a bit nervous. He took the time to tour the venue in advance and talk with me for hours to make sure we were comfortable with everything. JP was extremely helpful, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile for his clients. JP McLeod was responsible for music for over 7 hours, and he knocked it out of the park for the ceremonies, cocktail hour, and reception. Honestly, JP was just such a pleasure to work with all the way around. I am pretty Type-A and emailed him about a million times and he was SO PATIENT I can't even begin to tell you. Finding the right DJ for our wedding was one of the most daunting tasks we faced when planning our the big day. Although all elements of a wedding are important, the DJ is nearly completely responsible for the "fun" part of the night. When we met JP, though, we knew he was the man for the job. JP is a rock star! He helped us negotiate with our vendors, went far beyond his scope as a DJ to provide additional services, and, most importantly, provided the best entertainment we could have asked for. I have hired DJP so many times I can't even count them anymore. He does a great job tailoring to your needs. He has been my go to DJ for many years. I started using him in High School and have used him for every significant party since then. He has DJ'ed huge college parties, New Year's eve and even my wedding. He will tailor to what you want and is not shy about requests. As a bonus he is an excellent MC. He also does great improvisation when needed. JP was the DJ at my wedding last weekend and I can't say enough good things about him. From the minute we met to discuss my event I knew he was awesome.
