The ride to the Skyway Bridge was beautiful and the water and weather were all working in our favor. It was a relaxing ride and we saw a couple of pods of Dolphins. We felt we could reach out and touch them. As we got to the skyway and turned towards shore, the captain asked if we would like to sail, which we did for a while. It was spectacular. The catamaran was beautiful, clean, comfy and cozy. We were briefed on where to find the lifejackets and there was a small raft on the aft. I cannot say enough about this truly wonderful crew and Boat "Sweet Escape ". I highly recommend and will use them again! Thank you guys for a truly amazing time. My family was blown away.

A turtle tank. A tiny tank with some miscellaneous fish and a baby puffer, a touch tank with some sea urchins, horse shoe crabs, hermit crabs, sea stars, and sea cucumbers, another tank with some brittle stars and a sea horse, and one last tank with some lion fish! There's $3 admission for military but I cannot imagine paying double that. I hope the profit goes to something beneficial for wildlife. We really took our time checking out every tank once we saw how small the room was. There was an employee at the touch tank that was extremely knowledgeable about the animals they have. Overall it was enjoyable to step inside and spend 20 minutes looking at fish tanks.

We saw dolphins within the first 10 minutes on the pontoon. :) After perching on the sand bar and getting off the pontoon to look for shells and sealife, that's when the fun for the family really started. This past Sunday we took out Still Dreaming, a beautiful 46 foot Beneteau for the roughly 3 hour, post Xmas, sail in Tampa Bay. All of the Captains have been excellent and Captain Rob continued that tradition. Short briefing for the adults and he took a little extra time with several grade schoolers who needed an extra bit of maritime instruction before they were allowed run of the ship. These boats are just immaculate! Sodas and water are supplied but you can bring your all your favorite provisions. Plenty of photo ops just let the Captain know what you want. The seating are barstools, so it's like a moving bar on the water. And it has a very necessary amenity - there is a marine toilet! We went out for a 4 hour trip at 12:30pm, saw some dolphins, went searching for manatees, cruised into St. John's Pass and the Gulf, stopped at a sandbar, and had a dance party. Really fun times! You bring your own food and drinks, and they have a cooler for you to keep stuff cold. Note that there is a place at the Bay Pines Marina where you can get food to bring onboard. We grabbed some fries and onion rings and they were good. This is a perfect way to spend part of the day whether you live in FL and don't yet own a boat (us) or your visiting FL and want to enjoy some time on the water (our friends). Wow! What an experience! We took a 9am tour to Shell Key on Cap'n Dalton's boat. There were only…read moresix passengers on board, which meant there was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the sunshine. Dalton provided expert commentary about the area, even pointing out a few celebrity homes and yachts along the way. It was a gorgeous ride over to Shell Key, and we even saw a few dolphins along the way. Once on the island, we had about 45-50 minutes to explore the beaches and do a little snorkeling and shell-hunting. The island is aptly named, with rows and piles of shells along its white, sandy beaches. The water was warm and perfect for swimming. Soon enough we were back on board and heading back to the harbor. And that's when the magic happened: dolphins! Following along in our wake, and no doubt attracted to the enthusiastic squeals of one of our dolphin-loving fellow passengers, the dolphins put on quite a show. Even Dalton, who I assume sees a LOT of dolphins, was impressed by how long they followed in our wake and performed jumps and flips for us. It was truly one of the most remarkable experiences of my life! Thank you Dalton and Island Ferry for an amazing and memorable tour and one of the true highlights of our vacation!
