My son and I took an afternoon dolphin trip using a Groupon a while back, and we really enjoyed it. There was ample free parking at the dock, and the boat is fast, clean, and plenty of seating. It helped that it was a beautiful day, and we saw a lot of dolphins, swimming in the surf behind the boat and jumping out of the water. This was the best dolphin tour I have EVER been on! We saw dolphins NONSTOP! I can't even count how many! We went 10/21 Sunday for the 1045am tour. The tour is upbeat with jokes, music, and the boat goes fairly fast for a lot of it. The dolphins enjoy playing in the wake. This definitely beats seeing dolphins at an amusement park! You get up close and personal with them here for 1/4 of the price. Make sure you sit in the back! Tips: there is a bathroom on board but it's quite small so go before you get to the dock! They sell drinks for $2 onboard like water and soda. Good for kids & adults. read more

We are locals so we have been several times and saw lots of dolphins close up and had a blast on this tour but unfortunately today we brought a visiting family and they weren't jumping as close nor for very long - so it was just kinda hot and a little boring for the kiddos - but for the adults it was still great scenery and the captain was entertaining pointing out the area and overall a nice ride. You cannot predict nature so not sure I would chance taking a family with younger kids again when it's really hot out. The captain and mate were wonderful. OMG WOW this was INCREDIBLY fun. We did the cruise in February of 2020 pre-COVID. The staff was informative and friendly. We got some great dolphin encounters, RIGHT when we were about to give up. Super awesome experience! It was a scorcher out there, but the captains made sure everyone had plenty of water and offered cold towels for anyone needing it. The seats were HOT when I first sat and burned my bum with a thin cover up on, so bring a towel to sit on! Also, prepare ahead and apply sunscreen. Just a little prep help other than that sit back and enjoy the ride. I'm a local native but my first time on this particular boat and I can say it won't be my last. It will never get old!! read more

Capitan Dalton and his first mate pulled through today! We saw dolphins and some cool sights. This cruise is worth the money. We brought our two kids who are 4 and 8 years old, they loved it. If you have a windy day you might get wet. If you do have kids, sunscreen them up in the parking lot, there are no shady spots on this boat. Parking is very close to the boat and everything is pretty straightforward once you get there. Also don't forget some cash to tip the great crew at the end. In the day of everyone uses credit cards sometimes this gets overlooked. (I don't work for them, promise) Great time!! A must for spring break, call and book in advance. We signed up today to do the Dolphin Racer. Captain Mike and Julie were phenomenal. Mike was funny and Julie was sweet and very helpful. They made sure that the experience was top notch. They ensured the boat was in working order and we were all safe. They made sure to let everyone know to be courteous of the small children so that no one gets toppled. I've been on tours before where no one was considerate of others. We were able to see Dolphins right away. They did a great job of setting the expectation that it's not always the case to see them so soon. Mike also did a great job explaining why he was slowing down and the purpose behind boating rules and regulations. Had to take off one star for the incredibly rude girl at the check in window. We were staying at an air bnb and didn't have a printer, which seemed fine because it didn't say we needed to print any tickets. We get to the window and she starts going off, her exact words were "I know it doesn't say it anywhere on there, but you ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have to print the tickets!!" She continued to berate us and most of the other people checking in. It really put a bad taste in our mouth for the tour. The tour itself was great, we saw a lot of dolphins and really enjoyed seeing them jump in the wake of the boat. The captains were super friendly and had a lot of interesting info. So I guess the point is, print your tix even if you have no printer or you're gonna get yelled at. read more

We decided at the last minute to take this tour and we are so glad we did. We've been on a lot of dolphin tours on the west coast over the years, but this one was by far the best. Captain Dalton went out of his way to find dolphins, communicating with other boaters in the area to find pods. We were treated to quite a show as they rode the waves behind us. The only downside is that the boat has no cover, ie no shade, and we had to wait while others (who came late) paid and boarded. Fortunately, we brought lots of cold drinks with us. They also sell cold drinks on the boat. I highly recommend this tour. read more

Found a Groupon for a dolphin excursion a week before we had out of town guests this past February. I purchased them and hoped for the best knowing that the weather was cool and had hoped we would see dolphins. Captain Cecil said we would see dolphins and we did! He was a great Captain and took us where he saw the opportunity for us to see dolphin activity. We learned about dolphins and their lives in the Gulf. We saw them having fun on a sunny albeit cool afternoon. Our out of town guests had a blast. We did too. We had a tremendous time on the Dolphin Racer. This trip is discounted often through Groupons, which I used, and can be redeemed throughout the year. Check there first. This is an open bow boat--NO shade for the entire run (our's lasted close to 2 hours) and can get pretty hot depending on the time of year-so be prepared (Water-SunScreen-Hats, etc.) The boat holds about 50-60 people and cruises at about 30 knots. The boat's wake entices the dolphins to "body surf". We were totally in awe...it's one thing seeing dolphins leisurely cresting the waves in the bay..it's another to watch them jump and flip out of the water in tandem while chasing the boat. The boat ride alone is worth the price of admission..this is so much more. Such a great venue for kids, adults or a day trip for your out-of-town guests. Tip: Get there early enough and grab a seat towards the back of the boat. The dolphins jump the wake and it is easier to get those lasting photos read more

Top notch outfit! Captain Dalton and Captan Mike are stellar stand up gents. Young, cool, fun and very respectful and professional. They gave great commentary on our ride and made some great jokes. We ended up seeing three different pods of Dolphins including a Mom and calf. They followed our boat twice jumping our wake and made for some great photos and videos. We were a group of 6 and we all had a great time! Dalton and Bob were our crew and exceptional!! It was a gorgeous day in St Pete and 8 min after leaving the dock we had dolphins jumping in our wake! Our whole family had a blast on this boat. Not only is it a pretty cool boat ride but the captain really knows the area, wildlife, and of coarse the dolphins. Go go go, If you do nothing else on the west side of this beautiful state, go to Dolphin Racer. You literally race with the dolphins. Capital Mike and his first(possibly only) mate Julie are awesome. They explained what we were doing why they do it and gave a lot of information on the dolphins. We had a small group of people so we were all able to move around the boat easily. They have drinks on board for sale, restrooms too. They make sure the kids get the whole experience by using the back yellow seating area for them. We were not even ten minutes in and we saw dolphins. Then they just kept coming. So beautiful. And down side? Not unless you need the restroom before you are able to board. They do not have one. You can run across to 7-eleven though. Come early and get your dolphin hands stamped. You can bring a bag with. Bring your own water or drinks. Pick an out side rear of the boat seat and wait to be amazed. There was an old Pelican hanging out near the dock. He was peacefully watching. Would definitely go back. We also meet a couple at our resort who are here for a month. Told them how great it was and they said they would definitely check it out. read more

Both captains were so very friendly and entertaining. They were also very knowledgeable about dolphins, fishing, boating, some other boating companies, and the laws. They gave us pointers on how we may attract the dolphins to the boat. It wasn't anything crazy like the dolphins following us next to the boat the entire time but the captains def took the time to go checkout each pod of dolphins and we def saw a couple jumps and trick. Less than $30 for an hour and half of fun was more than worth it. read more
