Cold springs community seems to be trying very hard to keep the community together by offering these types of events. Some things you can enjoy at the Cold Springs market is an assortment of food trucks. This time they had a gourmet cheese truck and Aloha shack. They also do jump houses and face painting for the kiddos. It's $25 for the Saturday to host a table as well. I think November is their last event until next year. Hopefully the word will get out and this event can grow larger for them.

But I've spent more here than I spent at the Saturday farmers market at the Summit Sierra, excluding what I spend on Paul Schat's Bakery. Wedge Cheese shop has a booth here. They have a nice selection of cheeses. I had oodles of questions for them about their cheeses. After lots of discussion, I bought two small wedges. "That's a lot of work to sell two small pieces of cheese," I remarked. "Yes. It usually is," one of the owners sighed. They have the least expensive fruit here of any farmers market I've been to. Only $2 a pound. But it's only one fruit stand. And the meat booth sold lamb jerky. I've never had that before so I had to buy a bag of that. It was interesting. So while it's a small farmers market, it was a place I wanted to spend my money.

This is a cool little company. (Pun intended... ) They take things such as candies, fruits,…read moreveggies, etc., and freeze dry them down into shelf stable treats. They sell at places like festivals, craft fairs, farmers markets throughout the area, they also sell in some stores around the Reno area, and you can also find their products online. I found their booth at the Labor Day weekend nugget rib festival in Sparks. The people that were running the booth were friendly, helpful answered any questions I had. They had quite a selection. They had the fruits, they had freeze dried candies, such as nerds, Gummies, chocolate candies, etc. They even had freeze dried, jalapeño, but that's something that I'm not into. I tried a couple of samples, and ended up buying two items. I bought the freeze dried M&M's, and also the freeze dried milk duds. They were both amazing. They were all puffed up, so they were light, airy, and definitely delicious. The milk duds actually tasted like milk, duds, and the M&M's had little M&Ms embedded in the candies. The price was reasonable. The only downside, is that these things are addictive. Once you crack open a container, it's not going to last long. But that's because they are so good. I live in the Sacramento area, so I'm going to have to pull up their online store, and find some more neat things to try. Thank you so much.

I ended up purchasing a smaller bag of wild berry skittles and a bigger container of mixed gummy rings. I liked the fact that they carried smaller bags for under 5.00 so I could try them. The gummy was a nice mix so I could try one of each of the 4 flavors in one conatiner. And the larger container was under 10.00. Both prices were very reasonable compared to other booths that I have seen at other shows. I see that they are local in Sparks, NV. They told me their favorite was the caramels... so I might have to try those next. The pics I include did have more candies in them.. but we ate a lot of them.

Dropping in late in the day I was worried that most of the 'goodies' would be sold out. Not at all the case. They keep the displays stocked all day. The owner (Steve) popped out of the back and gave us some info on the development of the business which is a good story in itself. It was packed for a Sunday evening and I'm glad we got there before closing, but we were taken care of immediately after entering the store.
