    Chicken Fried Steak special
    Theda B.

Stopped in for lunch, hubby had one of their burgers, it came with fries, special that day was chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, green beans, slice of bread, soup or salad, so I had to try it. Hubby said burger was good, it was huge and falling apart as he ate it, and they gave him a nice portion of fries. The special was really good, meat and potatoes had brown gravy on top. It was a big chicken fried steak, I wish there had been fewer lumps in the potatoes and they needed salt, the salad was iceberg with cheese/dressing, but it was all very tasty. I will stop in again when in the area

What a unique family restaurant. Their hamburgers are great and what a promotion this past Saturday $4.00 for hamburger and fries. Our waitress Molly did a marvelous job.

So, I set out to some diner I found on yelp, I get there and find the side street diner. Not the name Yelp had it listed as, however same address. So after submitting a name change request I walk in and see their menu says established 2020. New ownership. Rebrand. Not sure, but it looks nice inside and it is pretty busy. The clientele is representative of what I expected the area to be. Workers in Fire Retardant coveralls, people coming from church, and a few families with kids. I ordered a coffee and some water, I wasn't offered creamer or sugar, but I can drink coffee black Not a problem. I assumed my waitress was a bit overwhelmed by how red her face was and how quickly she was rushing all over the place. I will live without cream and sugar lol. She came back to me after about 15 minutes and I ordered the chicken fried steak, with western style hash browns, scrambled eggs, and wheat toast. After about 45 minutes or so, my food came out. The crisp on the steak and seasoning were pretty good. Hash browns were browned well, and had a healthy serving of cheese on them. My eggs were cooked just the way I wanted. The meal itself was very good, the wait was a little long, and the service was decent for someone who was visibly overwhelmed. Side note: I did eventually get cream and sugar after being asked how my food was and getting a refill from (I think her name was Stephanie) one of the wait staff and manager if I had to guess. Check out was easy. I came back a week later with a buddy and had a very similar wait time/dining time. So its definitely worth checking out. But make sure you set aside an hour at the minimum.

Walked in and the heavy set blonde waitress looked at us and didn't even greet or acknowledge us. Same with the elderly dark haired woman. My husband finally had to ask if we could sit down after they turned their backs to us twice. She took our order and we were courteous but they seemed mad they had to serve us. We're an interracial family and I def don't think the locals were treated with the same disdain. Skip this place if you're diverse. The bad service was not worth it. To Kroll's we went. I'd never been in before 6pm, it's not much different in the morning vs evening, since it's a diner. I did find a part of the menu I'd never looked at before... (my standard order is soup & a shake but 9am meeeh) I ordered apple kuchen (there were probably a dozen options). It was warmed & really good. The custard was creamy and not overly sweet. The other gal had a caramel roll, also warmed & pretty big. For a total of $10, I'd say ot was 30min well spent. It's true diner style, with some German items clearly marked & explained. Service is also diner style, thus the 4 instead of 5.
