When I called to inquire why this was so high, the billing manager was extremely rude and even irritated that I took the time to examine my bill in detail! She wanted me off the phone because she couldn't be bothered to explain it- her response was these are our fees- and you're not coming back so what does it matter. For me it is the principle that matters to me not the amount. I thought Dr Catalano was a very kind and attentive doctor and unfortunately I won't be taking my children there due to this incident and would never recommend them!! Their billing manager clearly does not understand customer service! I just wanted to understand why I was billed that particular level and if she explained it nicely - I would have been ok with it. But she was beyond rude and wish the doctors knew how she spoke to their patients! Horrible!!!

We have had this appointment scheduled for a month. Her insurance hasn't changed. The office has had her insurance information since she made the appointment. They could have called us at any point prior to 9:25am today and we could seek care elsewhere. The front desk staff are completely incompetent and unprofessional. This is a practice that needs to be absorbed by a bigger hospital organization and ensure competent patient care. Now I get a bill for a co pay for my physical that there is no co pay for and they tell me it's for a alcohol consult. All the doctor did was ask me a question, I think the medical coder needs to go back to school.

I have to echo what other reviews are stating about the front desk staff. I enjoyed the doctors,…read morebut outside of that, it was incredibly frustrating. The front desk staff is not friendly, can be rude and argumentative and makes even the most simple things complex. There were multiple incidents that led me to change practices. Once my son was given a prescription and it wasn't called into the pharmacy as promised. By that point, the office had closed for the evening and there was no way to get it. I called the next morning, and the woman on the phone kept insisting it was done and acted like nothing could be done to help. No exaggeration, I had to plead with her to stop the drama and call it in again if that was the case. Another time, we were kept waiting for almost an hour for our appointment (with a baby!) and when I went to inquire about when we would be seen, the staff was too busy complaining about their new computer system, literally cursing, to address me at the window. I patiently waited for several minutes until I finally interrupted them. I'm as foul mouthed as the rest of NYC is, but in a doctors office? While ignoring your patients? In front of children? There was another instance where it took about 15 minutes to make an appointment. The woman kept having side conversations, she would put me on hold without saying she was putting me on hold, and then said she had to enter my son in the system again. When I got to the practice, none of the information I gave her was in his file, and I had to give it to them all again. I could keep going, but I am sure you get the idea by now. These last three incidents happened in rapid succession of each other, and I left the practice immediately after. You also never get the same doctor. I had specifically requested the same doctor several times, and it was never communicated to me I wouldn't see our preferred doctor until we were in the exam room. I loved every doctor we saw, but the hoops and hurdles to get there were too much.
