If you're looking for a therapist, counselor, psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker... with…read morewhom you can really connect... I cannot recommend this place more! There are a number of professionals working from this office and every single one of them, especially the two that I've worked with directly as well as the office admin are absolutely wonderful! From what I can tell, each of the staff members specialize in a few different areas of focus so that every need/issue is addressed. Being in my early 30's and not having gone to speak with someone since college, I did feel a bit apprehensive about calling to make my first appointment but once I heard the EXTREMELY sweet and pleasant voice on the other end of the line, it was as if it were meant to be. I've never felt more welcomed and comfortable! All the way down to the color of the walls and the soothing music in the living room-like waiting area... Just walking through the door gives the feeling of calm. It's unfortunate that there's such a stigma surrounding "going to a counselor", honestly, going to Woodland Professional Associates has been the most INTERESTING and thought provoking experience I've ever had! I look forward to LEARNING about myself and seeing things from a number of different views (different ways to look at things) and most of all, the reciprocated meaningful conversation! This office has changed my life! I think that EVERYONE should see a counselor at some point in their life, it's almost crazy (hee hee, pun) NOT TO! If you're looking for more than just the stereo-typical therapist visit and you'd really like to connect with a warm and caring, down to earth person... THIS is the place to do so!

I signed several…read moredocuments at the beginning of the visit all of which seemed standard responsibility to pay documents. One of the documents indicated that for this visit the company would not submit the charges to my insurance company for me, which meant that I would need to do it myself. The service itself was thorough and we had a good experience overall with the psychiatrist we worked with. I paid for the service the day of testing a total of $1,675, having already paid $300 for the initial consult. It took quite a while for the results to come back. I believe we had him tested toward the end of August and then we got the results in the middle of October. When trying to get some of the documents I needed to send to my insurance company for reimbursement I discovered that , for this specific service, this company does not do its own coding. Why is this a big deal? Well because in order to submit for reimbursement from your insurance company you must provide the diagnosis and procedure codes or they will not reimburse you. This is extremely problematic. When I called them in December to ask about it and to try to get them to give me that information they just kept telling me that I signed a document that said that I understood that they would not submit the billing to my insurance company. I really had no idea what that meant at the time. I don't think any lay person would understand what that meant. This has put me in a difficult position but, to add insult to injury, when I called about this, I guess I trip something in their billing system. The day after I hung up with this person who I was talking to about the bill, they charged me another $1,675. They claimed they forgot to charge me for this back in October. This was a complete shock to me as I thought that when I paid the $1,675 plus the $300 consultation fee at the beginning that I was finished paying for the service. I called immediately and asked about this charge and they said that I signed something that said that they could charge my account for their services. Well this is correct, there was no transparency about what I was being charged for. I did not get an invoice that I had to pay, they simply dipped into the credit card that I had " on file" and charged me. When I emailed and called out of frustration they simply referred me back to their portal where they said I could see the bill and the statements of payments. They seemed frustrated with me because I was pushing back and asking about exactly what I was being charged for but I could not get that information because they don't do any coding or billing in the official way. It is now March. My insurance company has called them a number of times and they have not answered the phone when they have called. We have tried having conference calls where the insurance company had me on the line and try and talk to a billing person but they have not answered the phone nor have they returned any messages. I did call the doctor directly at one point and explain some of what was happening. He seemed uncomfortable and he agreed with me that it wasn't very transparent but there wasn't anything he could do about it. So it would seem that I am out of around $3,500, which my insurance company would at least partially reimburse, but they can't because they don't have the proper documentation in order to process that reimbursement. This company has been absolutely no help, they've been rude to me, not transparent, and have not answered the messages are calls that my insurance company has put to them. I highly recommend that people don't go to this business there are plenty of other offices that offer proper billing on the same services for probably a lower cost and certainly your insurance company will not run into the lack communication and customer service not this company has shown me.

What we got was a person who did not verbally or non-verbally acknowledge or interact with us as parents, almost at all. Her focus was asking our daughter to share her biological family memories, with little to no progress. We're now on our second emergency room stay with a little girl so desperately afraid to attach to us that she'd rather be in the hospital than at home. We're now better informed on attachment issues and needs due to our own research, reading and learning. And have realized if we did actual family attachment work a year ago, when we started with Exeter Counseling, our daughter could be thriving instead of requiring significantly more intensive residential care. If you have a foster or adopted child in your care who needs attachment support, call Dorothy Derapelian, not Exeter Counseling.
