I got there at 3 and waited until 3:40 for my massage. The whole office was messy, cluttered, and unprofessional. When I got into the room for my massage, she told me to undress and lie face down, but didn't even shut the door. I swung the door shut and 20 seconds later she barged in without knocking, telling me I had to pay first. I was using a Groupon and she started demanding a tip up front of at least 10 dollars or more. When I told her I would pay the tip at the end, she started yelling at me. All the while I was only halfway decent. I laid down for the massage after she finally agreed to me paying the tip after and she answered her phone and then proceeded to talk for 1 minute in Chinese while massaging me with one hand. I asked her to get off the phone. She then got off the phone and massaged me for 2 minutes before asking me to get up and give her my "coupon" before she would proceed. She then called her "boss" and put me on the phone with her were I expressed my extreme dissatisfaction, only to understand that the boss didn't understand a word I was saying either. I put on my clothes awkwardly in front of this crazy lady and left. I called Groupon, filed a complaint, and received a refund for my massage. After a high school and college career of competitive sports, I became a road runner, culminating in the NYC Marathon in '95. Two years later, I was a chronic limper. Eleven years later, I had both hips replaced. The discomfort before and after the replacements had caused my body to veer far from the sacred geometries of the body. Fascia and other forms of support had evolved to "help". At the same time, however, they locked my body into the wrong positions. They had "robbed Peter to pay Paul." I have practiced yoga for 10 years. I thought that it would fix everything, but I struggled with chronic back pain after exercise. Someone recommended Rachel and I have since experienced a new, wider level of recovery. Rachel's work broke down all of the solid, incorrect, misplaced fascial and muscular supports that had evolved over time. After each session (there have been about 10), I experienced an immediate sense of freedom in the areas she had worked on. And that is where my work has begun. Major cables that held my body in the wrong positions are gone now. I must now re-build the structures correctly. And carefully. Parts of me have been in retirement for decades and they were not too happy about being called back to work. I have made great progress since beginning work with Rachel and feel increments of improvement every day. I could not have progressed like this without the work she has done.
