    Breakfast croissant

I am going to make it point to stop here whenever I pass by. I was early for an appointment in Collingwood, so I decided to have a snack to tide me over until lunch at The Smoke. I thought I would be ordering a full breakfast, but the menu is not geared around breakfasts. But, they did have a Breakfast Sandwich on either bagel or croissant. I chose the croissant and a nice cup of bold coffee. This was the best breakfast sandwich I have had anywhere. The croissant was amazing, and the fluffy egg filling, with ham and a thick slice of cheddar was delicious. I was back in town 3 days later and made the same stopover. This time, I forgot to ask for ham, and instead received 3 incredibly crisp slices of bacon. Glad I forgot the ham! I am back in town next Tuesday. Guess where I am stopping for breakfast?

Good food, easy atmosphere, good for kids and it's a non for profit that donates back to the community

    Spacious cafe.

Journeys Blend Cafe is a relatively new addition to Collingwood and is located near the Wal-Mart / Metro / Cineplex lots on Mountain Road. Affiliated with the Journey Community Church, the cafe serves a variety of hot beverages, pastries, sandwiches and meals. The building is new and the interior is bright and spacious. The staff are very friendly, though some are still in training. Pricing seemed to be on the higher end ($3~$4 for lattes and cappuccinos) but there is a nice selection of items. Our (me + caffinated coworkers) drinks were prepared by the staff member in training so there were some delays - but nothing unreasonable. The coffee was quite good. The one complaint would be that our lattes and specialty drinks did not really fill the to-go paper cups, reaching up to the 50-65% mark. We were told that this was to accommodate the foam, but I imagine they will receive ongoing feedback regarding perceived value. Overall a good experience, particularly suited to local customers. We'll be returning to try out their lunch items.

The patio was unfortunately in the shade and it was a bit windy and cold, but our hot beverages helped keep us warm. Get there early if you want pastries as they do sell out. If you plan to dine in, you pick a seat and then order at the cafe and settle up then they bring you your food. There's a place outside for you to place your used dishes after you're done. The lunch menu (after 11am) is limited. The croque monsieur ($19) was the size of a regular slice of bread and came with a salad. The roast beef sandwich on baguette was the tiniest sandwich I've seen at a cafe. For almost $15 we thought it would be a much bigger sandwich. The sizing of it would have been more appropriately advertised as a kids meal. We thought the meal was very much overpriced for the portion sizes we got.

We were looking for somewhere we could sit and work off our laptops for some hours and the café had ample seats and stable wifi. There's a bar area as well so you could go for an afternoon buzz. They seemed to have interesting options on the menu ranging from sandwiches to other small or shareable dishes. Read somewhere bread was from the Collingwood Bread Company. I always enjoy locally made baked goods. Latte and matcha latte were solid. Stole a bite of the smoked trout sandwich - if you love one of those smoked salmon creamy tangy spread sandwiches this is definitely a good one. Pictures not taken are the grilled cheese and cheese scone. Smoked cheese was used in the grilled cheese sandwich. I enjoy all kinds of cheeses so I was pleased with the smoky kick. Cheese scone was not heated up properly and somehow the cheese, despite looking like a typical golden cheddar, was not flavourful at all. Dough base of the scone lacked the buttery, flaky texture. I'd say skip it. Hm honestly this place deserves more reviews.

They remembered my name and greeted me with BUG SMILES!! Thank you so much to the staff in this establishment! Also, the esthetic/ambiance was super cozy, warm, light and felt like a great spot to eat, drink, have a conversation, date, and even watch the busy staff making pastries, serving and drinks. We had the chocolate croissant (5/5) which was buttery and flaky with the rich decadent flavour of the chocolate. The chocolate cookie (5/5) was a delight. It was soft and perfect for those looking for a nice sweet treat. The nutella ice cream latte (5/5) was so good. It wasn't overly sweet which was enjoyable. The iced americano (3/5) was decent. It's more on the acidic side which I'm not a fan of but I still enjoyed sipping on it. The service was fast and both ladies that worked at the espresso bar and at the counter were friendly. Overall, such a great spot if you're in town for a cute cafe that will help you wind down and relax.
