Specialties
My specialties as a counselor include relationship/couple's/marital therapy, which takes up about 60% of my weekly schedule and most of my evening appointments. In particular, my work with couples is focused on helping couples restore feelings of love and trust to their relationships.
The rest of my work is with individuals, although I see families for family therapy occasionally. My other specialties include identity issues, existential crises, infidelity and cheating in relationships, emotional regulation (e.g. helping someone to manage anger, anxiety, or other kinds of behaviors and emotional states), religious/spiritual concerns and issues, and gender/sexuality issues.
Most of my work is done with adults, and I typically don't see children under age 15 for individual therapy. Most teens and children who work with me do so in family therapy, or I opt to work exclusively with the parent(s) to help stabilize the household dynamics.
History
Established in 2013.
I began my business in May/June 2013 after graduating from graduate school at ECU with a Master of Science degree in Marriage & Family Therapy (MSMFT program). In my graduate program, I specifically focused on working with couples dealing with a high degree of conflict so as to get familiar with this highly interesting but difficult work from the beginning of my training to become a therapist. This background of education and experience has been instrumental in my success with couples for the last 6+ years.
I started part-time while working agency jobs, until my business required my full-time attention by early 2014. I've been successful in my practice ever since my doors opened, and by this point I've worked with hundreds of couples and individuals, working with them to find solutions to problems together, and working side-by-side to assist my clients in repairing trust and love in their relationships.
Meet the Business Owner: Josh F.
Hello! My name is Josh Fowler, I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and I have owned and operated my practice providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families in the Wilmington area since June 2013.
Please note that due to the private nature of mental health treatment, requirements laid out by HIPAA, limitations and laws regulating the safeguarding and transfer of Protected Health Information (PHI), and other laws and federal/state regulations, it is my usual practice to *not* respond either privately or publicly to reviews published by individuals here on Yelp and on other websites/apps/services.
