My daughter was seeing her weekly for about a year and together they made such great progress. She provided a safe space for my daughter to feel comfortable and confident to talk about and address her struggles. She has since moved out of state so we no longer see her regularly, but she has stayed connected with us and will check in from time to time to provide guidance, advice, and recommendations when needed. She has been such a great resource, not only as a therapist for my daughter, but also to me, as a parent, and has coached me through some of the most difficult situations I've experienced as I was learning how to parent a young teen with mental health struggles. I couldn't be more thankful to her for all she has done and continues to do, which goes well above and beyond her duties. I highly recommend her and her skill set to anyone needing a mental health professional.

Lauren did an excellent job giving me a safe and warm environment to explore what I had been dealing with. She also helped me develop tools to manage the depressive and anxious symptoms I was experiencing. She's an expert at creating an inviting environment. Even on days I hadn't done my therapy homework, I looked forward to getting to talk to her about the past week. Lauren helped settle some of my anxieties about therapy and repair some damage done by past mental health professionals. I wouldn't hesitate to work with her again!!

I had a disappointing and concerning experience with Dani…read more During our session, I shared personal experiences involving my racial identity and faith background, including how religion had been used in harmful ways in my life. Instead of offering support or validation, she deflected by saying she "prefers to remain neutral," suggested I might need a "left-leaning therapist," and asked if I've had different experiences working with therapists of color. As a woman of color seeking help navigating trauma and identity, I did not feel safe or supported in this space. The therapist's approach made it clear that she was not comfortable or equipped to engage with clients from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds. What I needed was not a political debate--I needed culturally competent care. I've filed a formal complaint with the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board because I believe it's important that others--especially people of color--know what to expect. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this therapist to clients seeking affirming, trauma-informed support. After posting my initial review (Google), the therapist claimed that some of what I recalled from our session was "misconstrued." If that's the case, then why did she try to privately call me afterward to apologize? To me, that felt less like clarification and more like damage control. I've also since seen her own public posts (screenshot attached with identifying info removed), where she openly admits that other professionals in her field have called her out for inappropriate statements and even accused her of having racially biased and extremist views. Rather than reflecting on that feedback, she dismisses it and insists she's not the problem. That speaks volumes. I stand by my experience: I did not feel supported, validated, or safe in her care. When clients share their lived experiences, a therapist's role is not to debate, dismiss, or defend themselves. It is to listen, hold space, and provide culturally competent support. Do better.
