While in the area, I decided to stop in this place to buy a couple of tacos. While the food was okay, I was somewhat disappointed. Here is why. After reviewing the menu board, I asked for two beef tacos, and they said all they have is chicken. So I decided to go for the chicken tacos. Then I asked for some salsa to go with it. I was given green salsa. I asked if I could have red salsa, and was told that the red salsa was very hot. I had to settle for the green. I would think a shop that specializes in tacos could do a little better than this.

This small place has always been a great venue for authentic Mexican food..service is always with a smile and includes a salsa bar..good price point too!

Located in the Home Depot parking lot, so plenty of parking and easy to get to. Located in between several other businesses so easy to find. It is a small restaurant but there is some indoor seating. The staff if friendly. The menu is pretty big for such a small place. I have only tried it 1 time for their breakfast burrito, around $5. They have 3 or 4 options for the breakfast burrito. I tried the bacon, egg, cheese, and potatoes. It was pretty good, flavorful, large, and just what you would expect for a breakfast burrito.

The worst burrito I have ever received. The roll of it was very lazy. The burrito doesn't close and you can't pick it up. Horrible! Avoid the "Jose Special" burrito.

I think Jose's is a solid taco shop among the many San Diego taco shops. I probably would rate 3.5 stars but They have delicious, generous and affordable lunch specials that include a drink that up it to a 4 rating. I typically get the flying saucer which is a large salad in a fried tortilla with beans, sour cream, avocado and tomato and chicken for me. If I feel like cheating on the diet I get the chicken chimichanga special. This is a HUGE deep fried burrito topped with sour cream and guacamole with a side of beans and rice. You get all this food pictures for less than $10!!! The burrito is filled with your choice of meat, beef or chicken and it is delicious. Also they have your typical extras like spicy carrots and a few different sauces, red for me always. Those of you north county folks who live in the area should check this spot out for lunch. Tons of parking since it's next to a Home Depot and service is quick!

Best tacos I've had. Every time I fly down from Washington state I have to go and have their Tacos! Clean place and very friendly staff. Love their hot red sauce . Before I leave I will go again and try their chili Relleno .

Jose's uses quality chicken in their pollo asada..all white meat and very lean. I ordered the pollo asada tacos today. They are quite generous in regard to filling and toppings. I could have eaten one with a few chips and been full. Of course I stuffed myself and had two, but it was quite worth it. I'll know better next time. There are several other items I'd like to try as well. The location is convenient with lots of parking too.

The guys who installed our kitchen appliance told us to try this place. They mentioned that the portions were huge especially if you ordered the Jose's Special Burrito... so that I did, with carne asada. Within minutes (went around 1:30) I had my burrito. I had ordered half to go since I heard it was large. It was large, although I just about ate the entire half. The flavor of the carne asada was tasty. It had just the right amount of rice, lettuce, onions, cilantro and beans in the burrito. It's a little difficult to eat since it is so large. I didn't order anything else besides a drink so I find it a need to return and try something new! Plenty of seating, but when I went not all the tables were wiped down yet. Had a yummy lunch and walked right across the way to shop at Home Depot with a happy belly. I will return!

Today's daily special: chicken taco and cheese enchilada with a drink $6.22 after tax

Mexcian Food! It's big. It's cheap. It's filling. It's tasty. It's satisfying in a way that only a hole in the wall taco shop can ever hope to be. Burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and general yumminess. It's around the corner from my office and has been the cause of many failed diet days for me. It's just too tempting for my own good. The food is consistently good and what you'd expect. I've tried the carne asada burrito, pollo asado burrito, breakfast burrito, chile relleno burrito, fish tacos, and various plates of enchiladas and tacos, etc. with rice and beans and they've all satisfied my cravings perfectly. Besides being consistently good, there's not a lot to set this apart from the multitudes of hole-in-the-wall taco shops with a male first name printed on its signs... There is nothing too unique in its offerings, but I consider it "above average" among its peers. I will say that the salsa picante is pretty damn good (and spicy!) and their salsa bar has lots of the fresh carrots and peppers up there, and is pretty well stocked in general. Their daily specials are a great deal - you get a monster plate of food and a fountain drink for $6.22 after tax. ME GUSTA!

Those onion are pretty spicy but not as hot as the roasted peppers. Beware!

Went with my baseline of a carne asada burrito. It came with pretty flavorful meat, but a small amount of bland guac and an even smaller amount of even less impressive salsa fresca. Their salsa bar also lacked effort. Examples include spicy carrots that were cut about 3/4 of an inch thick, bad tasting red salsa, and a mild pico de gallo that looked like it was over processed in a food processor. A positive was the place was very clean and the young woman was quite polite.

You enter and there is an awesome salsa bar with many salsas, Mexican carrots and onions, chopped onions, and so much more, Mexican soccer (ok, futbol) on the tube, homemade aguas frescas, and real cooking happening behind the counter. You should be convinced by now that this is the real deal. I beg you: please do not order a bean and cheese burrito here. The adobada burrito is wonderful. It is perfectly-sized and the meat is freshly-cooked, well-seasoned and delicious. I have no doubt every item on the menu tastes great, probably even the bean and cheese burrito. With your burrito, you get two small plastic cups for salsa and a baggie for carrots or peppers or whatever. It is 25 cents for each additional salsa cup, which seems a little steep. But whatever you do, make sure you get the chipotle salsa. It may be the best salsa in history. It is honestly that good. I drove 25 minutes getting there and another 25 minutes getting home in order to try this place out, and there is a taco shop a quarter mile from me that I happily passed. I would make this drive every time.

Came in for an early dinner and to try this place out. Have heard many things via social media…read more For starters, we got complimentary chips & salsa. The salsa was good IMO, though the rest of the table thought it was too spicy. For drinks we chose a Mexican Candy ($15) and Hibiscus Margarita ($14). They were okay. I think not really worth the price (barely any buzz). I'll probably stick with a beer next time but that's okay. For food, we ordered the Chile Relleno & Cheese Enchilada ($20), Queso Birria Taco Plate ($18) and for me, the Fajita Mixta ($26). Everyone liked their food. For me, I've had better fajitas elsewhere (Mariscos Hualtulco is my fav) but these were still good (except no green bell pepper for some reason). I noticed the *new* menu price for the fajitas was $29 (Mixta), but on the bill it was still $26 (old menu price). So be aware, the new price is coming obviously. I want to try the Molcajete but $38 is a stretch! Atmosphere was okay. It was a Saturday and although it was early, I expected a more vibrant feel, but maybe that comes later in the night. There was plenty of seating. Parking was okay, but the lot was oddly packed however even though the restaurant was not. I would come back to try something else on the menu, but with so many great Mexican options in our area, they need that extra something to attract more patrons. A happy hour with $10 margs for starters would be nice.

It was on a Friday night, the place was packed, and difficult to find a spot to park. The line to order was almost out the door, but still fast to get through, and we were quick to choose what we wanted before struggling to find a spot to sit and talk. After about 15 minutes, our order was ready and we got to enjoy our food. We started with the Carne Asada Nachos, Refried Beans on the side. The meat was flavorful, very tender, and plentiful atop a pile of crisp and fresh tortilla chips. The cheese was nice and salty and the sour cream was warm to the point where it drizzled over it all nicely. All in all, it was a very tasty start to the night. The only two issues I had with it were that the guac was a bit overly pureed, making it kind of runny. And the refried beans had a very sour flavor, making me think that they were over the edge of going spoiled. I had to thank my wife's aversion to eating beans, helping us avoid having them spooned on top, which would have ruined this course. I also had an Al Pastor Taco, Craft Coast Style. The whole it was crisped up well, the cheese forming a great crust on the inside of the taco. The meat was sweetly marinaded, flavorful and delicious. On top of it was a good amount of beans, onions, cilantro, and guacamole, making for a good sized taco without any overflowing. It was pretty damn tasty. So, our first trip out here had more highs than lows, resulting in a very positive initial dinner. I'm sure those beans were just a one-off, at least I hope they were. And there's still hope that the guac may have had too much lime or had been overly mixed this time around. A second trip is definitely in the cards, with more of the family to expand what comes to the table.
