We don't have Total Wine in Ohio. Please please come here soon. Anyhow this is the best thing to it. Excellent selection of beer wine and liquor. As soon as you walk in the door someone asks if you need help. Always get some great IPAs here and u know how I love my beer. They have wine and beer tasting several times per week. Its over by the mall so traffic sucks but if you travel like I do it's nothing compared to larger cities. Trust me when I tell you this is the best Toledo has. If they don't have it, they will order it for you read more

When I am in Toledo I come here. There is no Total wine around here but around metro Detroit where I live there are a few. This place if they do not have what you want, they will get it for you. read more

I know Joseph's has been around forever, and I try to support local. I'm not sure when this started since I never really paid attention, but they now charge a 1% fee on your bill if you pay by card. Unless I have cash on me, I won't be shopping there even though they have a great selection. read more

Short and sweet... I can't think of any liquor store in the area that has a better selection of beer and/or liquor. (They seem to have a lot of wine also, but I don't know enough about wine to comment). Word of warning: JBC gets really busy during peak hours, and is occasionally understaffed. However, regardless of your drink of choice, they usually have at least one staff member who is knowledgable in that area. Very impressive place. read more

Joseph Beverage Center - I'm tempted to spend 30 bucks just to find out what the hell "ROOT" is! - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Toledo, Ohio

I love the fact the staff are always cheerful and helpful. The prices were always fair and the selection was always good. The worse thing about this place is the damn owner! I had noticed him on many other occasions following and peeking around the racks and aisles, but this last time was the worst. This man literally stood in the aisle and stared at us like Hannibal Lecter. I have spent a lot of money in the store, but never again. If people like this can't respect you then you must speak with your dollars. I would never knowingly allow a bigoted proprietor of any business to profit off of if they are this disrespectful. Teleport this man back to 1947 immediately! read more

Just had to deal with the most annoying guy unloading their bourbon. Instead of telling me what was available he wanted me to name off exactly what I wanted. What's the point of going if you can't see what selections they have. I used to like supporting this local company but this will be my last time Had to downgrade my rating after I found out what I asked for was delivered, but he told me they didn't get any read more

Great selection at good prices. Knowledgeable staff and good service. Overall a good experience.

Tons of selection. The staff were friendly and prices are very reasonable. One of the bigger liar stores in a Toledo. Better a tequila selection than most places. read more

This place is craft beer heaven! Hundreds of local, regional, and international brews to choose from! Their staff is very knowledgeable and can definitely assist in finding what you're looking for. In addition to craft beers, they also have a very extensive selection of liquor and wine. They have pretty much anything you desire. Prices are really reasonable as well. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I called ahead to check on something to see if they had it in stock. They said yes. I said are you really sure, can you double check. As much as I've enjoyed shopping at Joseph's beverage center whenever I come back to visit family in Toledo, I won't be back again after being greeted at the checkout counter by the owner who doesn't care enough about the community or my family's safety (my 4r old son is high risk), to wear a mask. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

After stumbling across this business on Yelp and reading the 3 other reviews, I decided that I had to check it out. All I can say is that all three of the other reviews are completely right. The store has a fantastic amount of variety. The only bad thing I can think of about the store is that by them having that many different choices for beer, it makes it almost impossible to decide what to get. Also, while it's not exotic, I was quite pleased to find Heineken Dark there. It is the first place I have been able to find it at. read more

Huge supply of craft brews! We went in to pick up Yuengling since we can't get this in Illinois. We were happy to find a significant amount of Yuengling and then we got lost exploring the craft beer area. The spirits area was also significant and we were able to find a hard to find liqueur that we like. read more

Aaaahh, Joseph's. This is a down and dirty kind of place, my kind of place... Go for the booze and the endless selections (for me, it's the craft beers)they have, not the customer service. I'm not complaining about the service, I'm just telling you there's not a lot of it here which is kind of nice. No pretentious booze snobs to help you. When I go here, I feel like I'm at my barber shop, lots honesty and "guy talk". If you're looking for a great place in Toledo to pick up a great bottle of wine, micro brew, or some liquor, you need to make a stop at Joseph's. read more

I went into the store to try and switch out a gift I'd received for a different flavor because I believed it had been purchased there. First the employee told me they didn't stock the drink which was wrong, I walked him over to the shelf and showed him. Then after he determined my drink hadn't been purchased there, he yelled and accused me of "Trying to pull a fast one". When I asked to speak to his manager he marched me to the back room all the while barking at me "Come on!" even though I was right behind him. When I explained what happened to the owner he apologized and offered to sell me "Anything in the store" as if offering to let me give him my money was supposed to make me feel better in some way, I'm still trying to figure out what he was thinking with that one. Most of the rest of the conversation consisted of him telling me "It wasn't purchased here" even though the reason we were speaking was because of the behavior of his employee, not about the drinks. Lastly as I was leaving, a different employee asked if everything was ok, I told him yes but I wouldn't be coming back. The owner who had followed me out for some reason insisted on knowing "Why I would say that to him" as if I shouldn't have given him an honest answer. Then the owner started to patronize my by asking "Is my apology not good enough for you?" "Do you want me to buy you something?" No. Where do you get the ego to think you can just say sorry and expect me to come back after my character was insulted when I was there with honest intentions. God forbid I make a mistake. Also don't offer me charity when I'm trying to leave, I don't need anything from you. "Quality and service that you wont believe." Yes, I couldn't believe how poor it was, they have a good selection though. read more

Joseph's is a Toledo store with a huge selection of beer, wine, and liquor. If you're looking for booze in Toledo, it's the place to be. While helping my family plan a party for the Old West End Festival the other day, I stopped here several times, once to buy spirits (they wanted gin, vodka, and tequila) and once to get beer. Each time, the staff were highly knowledgeable about their selection and were eager to assist us. They stock a good variety of liquor, though I didn't see much in the way of micro-distilled products, more interesting liqueurs, or rye whiskey. Maybe I'm spoiled living in Portland, but I figure that especially for making cocktails, that would've been nice to have. That said, it's still a fine collection they've got on hand. While I've never bought wine here (the selection at the nearby Andersons' is just too good for Joseph's to compete), I'm definitely impressed by Joseph's assortment of beers for sale. They've got a nice variety of microbrews on hand, as well as European classics, obscure lagers from East Asia and Latin America, and U.S. macros. You can also buy individual microbrew bottles there for mixed six-packs, or just to try. While their selection isn't quite as good The Andersons', it's still impressive, and sometimes they have brews that Andersons' doesn't currently have on hand. While they don't keep this fine beer cold, that's a quibble--it doesn't take that long to chill it down, people. When we needed to buy many cases of assorted macros to keep a thirsty crowd quenched, they came through, sparing us a long trek out to Perrysburg to buy a keg, instead. Their clerks even helped us schlep a truly massive load of ice from their walk-in freezer to our friend's pickup truck. Their assistance definitely saved us a lot of time and effort. Even though my family no longer live near Joseph's, they still shop there for all their liquor needs, and frequently rely on them for beer as well. It's easy to see why. read more

Josephs is phenomenal! Yeah they have the best selection in Toledo, but that is not what makes them so great. This past summer I was getting ready for my wedding, and came in to talk to someone about how to stock my bar. One of the managers gave me a full rundown of how much booze I would need per person, and what the best way to break down the wine, beer, and spirits. We put together a list, and he had all of my booze ready to go 2 days before the wedding. This alone was enough to merit 4 stars. The day I pick up the beer and wine I have a brain meltdown and accidently lock my keys in my car. The guys in the back kindly let me use their phone to call AAA and let me sit in the back office while I waited. They were having a lunch time BBQ and kindly offered me some hot dogs and all the sides. I sat and chatted with the crew for over a half hour waiting for my keys, and they were beyond friendly. read more

The place has most everything you could ask for in a beer and liquor store. It's been remodeled and looks way better than before. Has a certain smell to the place that isn't nice. The guy that walks around fronting and facing shelves has said weird things to my Wife. "You smell nice" and staring. read more

This place is one of the two great beer jewels in Toledo. My boyfriend prefers this place over Marino's, but there are pros and cons to it. Pros: good selection of everything especially wine. Everything is kept together and categorized appropriately. Large area of chilled beers and good selection of larger bottles of beer and mead. Cons: This place is a hot mess to try and navigate if you're new to it. Once you walk in there's like a convenience section of non-alcoholic beverages and snacks and stuff which slowly turns into gin and vodka and mixers and pre-mixed drinks then whiskey and so on. There's no marker as to where things are, you just find out as you go. The atmosphere is kind of like gas station/convenience store but booze. There are not a lot of craft beer singles. You have to commit to a larger bottle or 4-6 pack, which isn't my style. Also, some of the beer is stored so haphazardly with things stacked on top of one another super high close to the ceiling. Overall it's good if you know what you're looking for, but since I like to randomly try beers, buying in sets of 4-6 isn't my thing. Nice people and service though! Definitely go here for wine and liquor. read more

Great selection on beer, liquor, and anything else you may need alcohol wise. I found items here that you can't find in the big box stores.

Serious Booze-Professional's run this place... Ask a question, I dare you! Because they'll know...they always know. I go in here for their superb Wine selections and once in a while I grab some Champagne (which is a reasonable price). I dont ever leave here not finding something close to what I came in for, or with something I'm sure I'll be satisfied with. The coolers have a variety of alcoholic as well as non alcoholic beverages that I recommend you check out. Some of the prices are a bit much to contend with on the liquor side...but at least you can say they have variety! Been there for as long as I can remember and the customer service is always wonderful. read more

Couldn't believe the selection!! Best liquor store we've ever been in.

There is a nice variety of beers, wine and liquior. I wanted to make my own Sangria and the staff helped me to pick out items that would work well. It ended up delicious. Big selection, decent prices, helpful staff! read more

Yes, Joseph's has a lot of alcohol. But Joseph's also has a GREAT selection of nonalcoholic beverages, too! It is the only place I've seen in NW Ohio that has Sun Drop Soda Pop (usually a regional soda from the South), Snapple varieties I've never seen, every kind of energy drink in EVERY FLAVOR that's made (including all eight flavors of Monster Java), lots of small-batch sodas (root beers, cream sodas, sarsaparilla, orange soda, etc...), even a gallon-sized keg of root beer! So, even if you're a teetotaler (when was the last time you've seen THAT word?), Joseph's is a good stop! read more

I moved to Toledo from the Detroit area. There, I could stop in any liquor store, they were everywhere. Not quite so much here. This place is nice and clean in a good area. On the right day, I call this place 'the happiest place on Earth". Screw Disneyland. They have an *endless* selection of everything. Even mixers near the door. It's awesome. I've taken friends from out of town there. "LOOK at this place!!" They have everything. read more

I call this place the "candy store" because it is an adult's version of a candy store. I was really impressed when I first moved here and found my "Jam Jar - Sweet Shiraz" - not exactly the most common wine. Great wine selection. The downside is that many bottles of wine are very high (I'm short :( ) and some of the guys that work there are also not very tall, so I've had to approach a few strangers to fetch a bottle or two of wine for me. Note: I recently noticed that the wine I purchase is now available one aisle over on a lower shelf. :o) The checkout process is also very efficient - there always seems to be someone who bags, while the other rings... and the line is very quick. I'm usually in and out, even on a Friday or Saturday, in under 3 minutes. read more

Great customer service! I live in Texas and traveling to Toledo to visit my sister/father. Preferring to not carry my wine in my checked luggage as I have many times in the past, I called Joseph Beverage Center (because it had 4.5 stars) to see if they had/or could obtain my favorite Cabernet so my sister could try. Chris quickly got on phone with their distributor and was able to get for me. AND it arrives tomorrow. I wouldn't give them 4.5 stars, nor 5 stars....I'd give them 6! Wow! Now my sister has a go-to place for all my not-so-common Ohio wine choices! read more

I was pretty sad to learn Bevmo isn't nationwide. So as I came scoured the closest place that would sell me a variety of alcohol, I stumbled upon Joseph's. It's amazing here, they have such a great selection of everything. They somehow stuffed so many things in smaller space. Don't expect the best customer service, but this place still gets 5 stars. I mean, they have almost everything here and it isn't too far of a drive from the restrictive government controlled alcohol homes of Ontario. Now go forth booze hounds, go! read more

This place is great. One time I showed up, knowing I needed 15 bottles of wine and had zero time to waste. A wine guy approached me, gauged from my reaction that I had to T-C-O-B quickly, and shepherded me through the store offering selections of delicious and reasonably-priced wine. I love a good wine guide (I'm looking at you, Joe at the Andersons), but what really made this guy so special is how FAST he got me out of there, without compromising the wine selection experience. He helped me find a great variety and told me enough to help me figure out if I'd like the bottles he selected. He also darted up to the front and put my whites in an ice bath while we handled the rest of the list. Great! Oh, and the beer selection is awesome! read more

Great selection, helpful staff and efficient check out. You can't go wrong by choosing Joseph's.

I'm normally not a fan of plagiarism, but I can't say it better than John W's "I call this place the 'candy store' because it's an adult version [of it]." Joseph's has a highly knowledgeable staff; an amazing selection of beer, wine, and liquor; and a convenient location. I'm partial to bourbon, microbrews, and Eastern European liquor for special occasions, and Joseph's has some of the best selection I've seen this side of Binny's Beverage Depot in Chicago. Checkout is quick, too; no matter how busy the store, I've never waited more than a minute. Consider me satisfied. read more

If you want real liquor in Toledo this is the place. A staggering section of every type of liquor you could want! Plus beer and wine! I hate liquor stores where you have to tell the staff what you want and what size you want, when I shop for liquor I like to browse not give and order. The staff is friendly and helpful. read more

Huge selection. All sorts of wine, beer, and spirits.
