First off, I would like to say that the staff and judges are professional, other than a couple I…read morewill not name. I'm not writing to slander anyone in particular, but rather to address the fact that the system is one broken mess. I landed myself a DUI as of last year and that's no ones fault but my own. I own up to my mistakes, and live under a moral of accountability. The process through court was rather speedy, and precise. I opted for a diversion, blah blah, you get the rest. Where my troubles begin, is the very vague information they give as to how you go about completing said diversion. You go to the probation office (or whatever it's called), you fill out some paperwork, and you're well on your way.... So one would think. The information they give you basically skims the surface of the process. They hand you a card to contact someone if you have further questions about the process. You better believe that I had a plethora of questions to ask. I called the office several times over a period of 2 weeks without a single return call. Left several voicemails stating the nature of my call, as well as the questions I had. I get a returned call (finally) after about 2 weeks of constant calling, I was working and couldn't answer the call. The person on the other line pretty said If I had any questions, to call back.... Really? Fast forward about 5 months. I get everything figured out via a private party (no thanks to the Jackson county "justice system"), and get into my classes. Talking with my counselor, she states that I still needed to complete the process via the Jackson county court system. From my knowledge, I was up to date on everything that needed to be completed. Oh boy was I wrong. I had paid all of my fines prior to even getting into the classes, and as it turns out there's a "hidden fee" to pay up front before having to wait a month to do what they call an interview. Just another way to sipe money out of your pockets, as well as waste your time possibly costing a person their livelihood perse? I hope one day they hire a few more qualified people that can do their job right, give out clear and precise information, so people can handle their problems and get on with their lives.
