I had gone to UCLA first, where I thought the school of dentistry would be more affordable. I was devastated when after my eval, I was told they'd need to break my jaw for realignment on top of all the other stuff. I did not have the kind of money they were asking for and thought I'd end up somehow deformed with a really screwed- up mouth. A smile is the first I notice in person so this was a huge DEAL-BREAKER! A family member suggested I go see Dr. Stan. I said okay, but in the back of my mind I'd already pictured another terrifying diagnosis with an unfathomable bill attached. When I got there, the place was immaculate. He looked in my mouth, took a pano, and told me the work could be finished in one day...I was floored. I had already gone to at least 6 visits to UCLA and the treatment plan was endless. We were able to come up with a sensible financial plan... and it's now 2019. I can't believe it's taken me so long to write write this. My mouth is still as gorgeous as ever, but that's also because I take care of it... no drinking, drugging, smoking... After consultations with half a dozen dentists, it was concluded that I needed full mouth reconstruction to fix my bite. I have been in almost continual dentistry since I was eleven years old due to misalignment and the very weak enamel of my teeth. Years of wear and damage meant that now I required 28 full caps. Sounds painful and expensive right? No way around it, full mouth reconstruction is a very expensive procedure. I liked his office environment, and I liked what I saw in his photo book of work. But I chose to go with Dr Stan because I liked him so much when I met him personally. He was not patronizing, not a salesman as some dentists seem to be. He seemed cheerful, had a gentle manner and also very knowledgeable and direct about addressing my questions and concerns. Another factor was I also wanted the option of intravenous sedation, which is basically like being totally unconscious. I went with IV because each procedure lasted about 4 hours, and the thought of going through that was terrifying. No reason to worry. With Dr Stan, I didn't feel a thing. Really. And he did really extensive work. Most important; he fixed all of my problems; the teeth worn down to the dentin, cavities, cracked teeth, loose teeth, jaw clicking, TMJ, gum pains, stains, sensitivities, etc. My mouth was a wreck. But now it is in the best shape ever. My smile is bright, straight and most important to me, totally natural looking. I receive compliments on it all the time. Minor adjustment make a big difference in a smile and Dr Stan went the extra mile to make sure that I was totally satisfied with the results. I am. Dr Stan's office is well run with very helpful staff. His assistants, hygienists, associated dentists, are always cheerful, personable and professional. The office staff call for reminders and also now employ a useful e-mail confirmation tool to make sure you don't forget your upcoming appointments. Good dentistry is not cheep. But Dr Stan's price was in the same ballpark as all of the other Beverly Hills dentists. But it is good to find somebody who will stand behind their work as Dr Stan has done for me. Do not recommend. Used to see Dr. Stan, finally stopped. Best decision ever. Hygienists are fine, but Dr. Stan is more interested in money than taking care of his patients. They stack appointments so aggressively that they shrink the amount of time Dr. Stan can see you and what could be done in one appointment is spread to two or three sessions. I wonder if that's to milk the dental insurance companies... since I found out later that he was no longer covered under my dental insurance company because he had been sending in fraudulent claims. Once, during a session he walked away three times to consult with his graphic designer on the design of his business cards. I was just stuck in the chair waiting. I went to see this dentist a few years ago and I still think about what this office did to my credit, in just one visit I walked in because he advertised himself as being a 'holistic' practitioner, which was not the case. I could not find anything that would qualify him as a natural dentist.They do not provide any treatments or techniques different from other dentists. I had a good PPO at the time, and one of his assistants pressured me into getting a 'deep cleaning'. She said that they had already verified my insurance benefits and that they would cover 60% of it. I told them that I would rather just do a consultation, wait for my insurance to process it just to make sure that I was covered at 60%. They pressured me into just getting it done, presumably because they had double checked with my PPO. I agreed to have it partially done (1/4). Which means that I only had a partial amount of my mouth cleaned. When I left, the receptionists scheduled my next appointment and proceeded to charge me $300 on the spot. I felt very disoriented. They said that the x-rays and consultation were not covered. I agreed to pay the $300 thinking to myself I should have left after they made me wait for over 40 minutes and I figured I just would not come back for the rest. About a month later I got a EOB from my insurance they paid around $170 for that visit and later on this joke of an dental office sent me a bill for another $500. I called them almost on the verge of a nervous breakdown and the rude receptionist told me that the bottom line was that I owed 500 and if I did not pay they would send me to collections, which they certainly did. This office is not well run, they were rude, not ethical, and not to mention arrogant. The doctor did not even greet me when I was on the counter writing a $300 check. In three words: Avoid this place. There are hundreds of decent dental offices in LA, do not go near this one. read more

This is from a visit I had at his Wilshire office a few years ago, but it was SO HORRIBLE that I have not forgotten it, so I post it here for you. After the cleaning, I was asked to go into a room to talk with a woman about what the recommendations were for me. I've got all my wisdom teeth, and, from then until now, NO tooth, mouth or gum pain. Her/their suggestions amounted to many THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. (Perhaps about $8,000, IF I recall right. It was a shockingly high number!) I remember specifically: take out all four of your wisdom teeth. Why, I asked, since there are no problems or symptoms? To avoid crowding of the teeth--or some similar fake reason. I was advised to have LOTS of other procedures....NONE of which did I pursue. It's years later---NONE of the dentists I've seen since have ever come up with some multi THOUSANDS of dollars of "here's what we suggest" list. RUN AWAY!!!! read more
