Dr. Torbati had good diagnostic abilities. The unfortunate part follows. Understandably he's a very mature man, so his treatment plan did not include newer, less destructive techniques such as adhesive dentistry. Crowns, a 100 yr old technique that grinds down significant amounts of existing tooth enamel and relies on adhesive what is known to fail in approx 20 years, is perhaps too archaic to consider, when newer composite adhesion techniques preserve existing enamel that can never be regained. The biggest impediment to pursuing treatment is sitting at Dr. Torbati's front desk. Mary, who likely learned her high pressure sales techniques at a weekend auto sales seminar, made every attempt to pressure me into a contract. This was during Covid, when no one knew how long employment earnings would be suspended. I had already been completely unemployed for 10 months when our conversation occurred. Still she threatened increased prices if I did not sign by the end of the month, showed zero empathy for my painful condition and treated me like a potential criminal, who would skip out on bills. I had agreed to the $15,000 treatment price and informed her I could send $4000 immediately and another $1200 in 30 days, but for the purpose of transparent honesty, said that after that I might need to put treatment on hiatus, until more funds were available. She doubled down on her pressure, like an angry badger. Mary attempted to exploit the fact that I was in constant pain. I further explained I'd never left a bill unpaid and my commitment was real but my own ethics would not allow me to sign a contract, in which I was not 100% sure I could deliver on the terms. I recently and initially saw Dr. Torbati when my front tooth veneer (from many years ago) broke. I was referred to him by my husband, who is a general dentist and knew of Dr.Torbati's great work. Dr. Torbati made a heroic and painstaking effort to save the veneer, even though there wasn't much left to save. He ultimately did a beautiful job on a new crown for that tooth, and I couldn't be more happy with it! It is extremely comfortable, and impossible to detect it's a crown. Dr. Torbati has been amazing over the last several years. Coming from NY i had to find all new health care providers. when my front tooth post cracked i had to accelerate the process. After seeing several top dentists who wouldn't take a stand on saving the tooth,, i found Dr. Torbati a postodontist, who said "no problem". here i am 4 years later and my tooth is still good. After my dentist retired, I hopped around many professionals who I was unhappy with, to say the least. When it became apparent I needed an implant, I asked my friend Nick for a referral to a dentist specializing in implants. My brother and I are both patients of Dr. Torbati and I gotta say we are both very satisfied patients. It took me a lot of convincing to start my normal cleaning and exam routines but after doing some research on him and asking a friend that referred me to him I felt like I would be in good hands. I did need to get a filling done but I wasn't to happy with the idea of getting numb due to horrible experiences with dentist in the past, but Dr. Torbati promised I wouldn't feel pain at all. He must have a trick onto getting you numb and not feeling the needle because I didn't realize he had injected me til i felt numb lol. Dr. Torbati is a specialist so his work is very good quality. He was very honest with me, explained with details what I needed, turns out i didn't need a crown or a root canal from what I was told with my previous dentist. I was referred to Dr. Torbati by a friend after multiple bad experiences with another dentist. I was at the point of, I don't want any more dentistry ever before my initial meeting with the Doctor. Here's how my first visit went: The office was beautiful, easy to park at, and the staff was friendly. My checkup was held in a sunny, windowed covered room with a magnificent view of a pretty west LA neighborhood. That put me in a good mood, I was in an even better mood after my check up revealed that the persistent toothache I had didn't require any major surgery (no root canal!!!!) but rather, some deep cleaning to remove plaque buildup. The pain resided a day or two after the cleaning and hasn't returned. Now I have regular cleaning done every six months. I have since trusted Dr. Torbati with Invisalign and he did a great job walking me through the steps, explaining everything and not overcharging me for the service. It was kind of a pain in the neck to wear them everyday, but now I only wear them at night and my teeth are perfectly straight. It's a great feeling to feel fully confident in my smile! I went for a dental cleaning which was done by Dr. Torbati himself rather than a dental hygienist. He consulted regarding my teeth, gums, etc. and did not try to up-sale. He took x-rays at not extra charge. I am extremely happy with the way he handled my need for dental cleaning. I will go back to him for my future dental needs. I highly recommend Dr. Torbati. I went to him after seeing a few dentists for an implant consultation. I was extremely concern and in a way confused about the whole thing. He explained everything to me in details. My tooth was removed and they placed an implant right away. There is a reason why this Dentist has a consistent 5 star review! He is truly VERY GOOD at what he does. His staff and Naz are very friendly and to say the least I was frantic when I called them. Dr. Torbati was the ultimate calm professional. I happen to have had a very complicated situation with a failed bridge work and he gave me the proper diagnosis and I had to keep seeing him to recement the bridge on a temporary basis until I have my sinuses cleared up. I have a long road ahead of me for when I get my sinuses cleared up to start my implants, because I had a complicated issue that I have to deal with first, but Dr. Torbati was 100% correct on my sinus issue and my bridge was a lost cause and he was honest about that too. This review has been long overdue. I came to him almost 2 years ago with a host of problems created by prior dentists. Having had bad experiences with various dentists and specialists (one orthodontist wanted to surgically remove implants and do gum crafting when not needed). Dr. Torbati analyzed the situation and worked with me to come up with the best solution for my problems. He is extremely knowledgeable and very experienced and takes his time to do an amazing job. This is a rarity in LA and I have been to many dentists here who created a host of problems with sloppy work to make a quick buck. I was always skeptical about utilizing another dentist, since I had been seeing the same dentist since I was a child. Unfortunately, I needed a wisdom tooth removed and my dentist could not perform the procedure. After researching, I came across Dr. Torbati here on Yelp. I decided to give it a go and I couldn't have been happier with my selection. He was very patient with me (even when I had anxiety issues). He explained everything to me in incredible detail as he was performing the work, and performed it carefully in a reasonable timeframe. I was referred to Dr.Torbati by a good friend who knew I wasn't happy with the past dental implant work I have had done. Facing a much more extensive procedure this time, I decided to change dentists, rather than take a chance of the prior dentist ruining what was left of my gums. I could not be happier with Dr. Torbati & his staff. I had a very complicated situation and after having a broken tooth root removed and 2 dental implant posts put in, I was expecting a fair amount of discomfort. That never happened, in fact, I am in less pain than all three of my other implants I had done in past. He's extremely careful, teaches at USC and has tons of patience with anxiety-ridden patients. The added bonus is that he uses a wand to give the numbing material and it did not hurt at all, unlike every other traumatic dental experience I've had in the past.
