I had gone to an appointment with her once and really liked the doctor and staff's thorough and friendly approach. Dr. Cowan spent time with my wife, listened to her and really seemed to care. I had been having difficulty finding a doctor in the city that I really clicked with. Most recently I found a doctor's office that was adequate with a friendly doctor but then our insurance changed and no longer worked with that doctor. (Of course.) So, I decided to try the same practice as my wife. I was not disappointed. I saw Dr. Mark Graham who heads the practice and he was great. Really friendly, listens to you, explains everything to you. Gave a lot of general counseling for a person my age. Very easy and approachable. Absolutely what I want in a doctor. I also received the same friendly and thorough treatment from the staff. They make sure to give you copies of all medical forms for your records without having to ask, etc. If they continue to take new patients I would absolutely recommend this office for anyone looking for primary care/internal medicine doctor's in South Philly.

In healthcare, those moments matter more than people realize, and Stephanie's professionalism and warmth truly stood out. Nothing ever happens after that, absolutely no updates, no follow-through, and no sense of consideration. As someone who has worked in healthcare, I would never put a patient through this. The lack of communication and basic respect from the office staff has been frustrating and honestly unacceptable. It's a shame, because the clinical care was excellent, but the administrative side is severely lacking.

However, there's an angel at Jefferson Health Plans, that radiates empathy, compassion, reliability, follow-through, authenticity, kindness, and attention to detail. The angel that Jefferson Health is blessed with comes in the form of a nurse care coordinator for their special needs unit, Janice. After contacting Janice, because one of my specialist doctors didn't appear to be covered under Jefferson Health, she called me at least eight times to follow up, check for updates, make calls to the physician's office, all over 4 business days. My last call from Janice was on my ride to the doctor, to let me know she had spoken with the office, and ensured that my appointment was covered. To the Executives and Board Members of Jefferson Health, if Janice isn't highly promoted, add recognized each year, you're mashing a "big mistake. Big. Huge!" to quote Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. For the past few year I'd been going to the Jefferson Community Medicine Center whenever I needed a prescription or wasn't feeling well, never seeing the same person twice and usually even the follow up appointments were with someone new. Long story short, my father had received atrocious and frankly shameful treatment from Jefferson that would eventually lead to his untimely passing away and although it was in a different department I really just wanted nothing to do with Jeff ever again. I figured instead of looking on my insurance website for a PCP why not try Yelp since I use it for everything else which led me to Triangle Medical and Dr. Watkins. From the jump I could tell Dr. Watkins was different, he took the time to listen to me, ask me questions, and actually took my concerns into consideration. I've been seeing him for almost a year and we have uncovered several health issues that could greatly affect me down the road and have actively made a plan to get them taken care of. Having complete faith in a physician was something I never thought I'd feel after what happened to my father but the level of comfort and confidence I have with Dr. Watkins really gives me a feeling of security. The Triangle Medical office is on 10th St. right by Cheu Noodle Bar (which is also a huge bonus if your hungry post appointment). The waiting room is small but comfortable and I've always been able to get an appointment within a couple days of calling which is nice. Yesterday I was on the phone with my insurance company and they were trying to figure out the medical code for a CAT scan I needed so they called the office. When the lady came back on with me she said she was shocked she was actually able to speak with Dr. Watkins and that he was the nicest doctor she'd ever spoken with. I'm straight and before I came here someone at my gym said they thought Triangle was geared more towards the LGBT community. To my knowledge despite a heightened sense of style and killer dance moves, gay and straight men are genetically the same, get sick, and require the care of a compitent physician. I've referred my gay friends here just a much as my straight friends. I really feel fortunate I found Dr. Watkins and am grateful for the part he's playing in my well-being.

He has squeezed me in at the very last minute, and STILL didn't rush me out without making sure that we covered everything. I have 100% confidence in his technical and medical knowledge, and I actually like the fact that he often has medical students in the office seeing patients...this speaks to the trust that the local med schools have in his abilities, and I also feel that someone who teaches is, at the same time, constantly learning. Whenever I've needed blood work, he doesn't send me to a lab...he takes the blood right then and there (which is good because, in the past, doctors have given me scripts for blood work, but I'd never go). In the past, I've had to go back twice in one week and he made sure that I wasn't charged for the follow up visit....maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think every doctor would be so considerate. In a nutshell, I've been so happy with Dr. Watkins that I felt compelled to write a review here on Yelp! People DESERVE to have a doctor like Mark and in return, he deserves the business.
