Horton funeral Service they will try and do take advantage of the…read morefamily and charge your love ones an additional 1,000.00 to have your love one service on a Saturday after the arrangements have been already fully paid for in advance of your love one passing. Examine the prepaid contract if they insist on getting the additional $1,000.00 well pay them for what they have done and have your love one picked up from Hortons by the new funeral home and taken to the other funeral home that will respect you get a refund from Hortons and this part is "important" get the new funeral home to order your casket. Remember "You" are in charge of your deceased family member not the funeral home. It's totally unnecessary to rip off family members handling the arrangements for an additional 1,000.00 pocket money for the funeral home to handle your loved ones after prearrangements has already been made and "paid for". Also if the removal person shows up to your residence to remove your loved one dressed inappropriately with a hoodie on and casual baggy pants like he's going to a ball game "as a representative of the funeral home" send him away call the funeral Home or another funeral home and "demand" someone that will respect your home and your family that will show up dressed appropriately with at least dress slacks and a decent shirt casual or dress shoes and don't accept them requesting your help to remove your loved one from your residence they should come prepared with two people remember you're paying for this proper service and you tell the funeral home what time to come to your residence to pick up your loved one if you're waiting for other family members to come to your home before your love one is removed from your residence generally they come automatically within 90 minutes but if you need more time let them know when you call to notify them of the passing of your loved one. .

The only thing that was a issue for me was that when first sitting down to meet with someone a piece of paper was just sat in front of my face with no real directions or questions being asked to what I would like to see. If you are helping someone with planning while they are grieving or suffered a loss it is very confusing to just sit down and look at a paper with no real guidance or direction. The other issue I had was we paid for a service and it wasn't provided in the time that we previously discussed. Other than that the workers are very respectful upbeat and polite. A little on the pricey side but still decent.

Bethesda Meeting House - Feb 2026

Bethesda Meeting House

An old dilapidated church that has probably had quite a lot of people pass through the years. I did…read morenot attend a service but happened to stumble upon it on my way home from visiting another historical cemetery in Rockville with my friend Forrest. Forrest had mentioned that he knew about it but had not actually ever stopped by to explore the grounds. He and I enjoy visiting old historic sites which include these kinds of establishments. This is a gem that is clearly not frequented. When we rolled up, the welcoming sign says 'The church that named Bethesda'. OK, you learn something every day! Cool. Obviously, this place is extremely old if the city is named after this place. The church is still active and service is at 11am. I do not know what denomination it is currently, but the old decrepit cemetery next to it is Presbyterian and what I believe it was established at its founding. The grounds themselves are well-maintained. The road that leads up to the church limits to one car on the road. Good luck if you're trying to pass someone because there simply is no room to move around them. We discovered that really quickly when we parked off to the side, and someone from the church came up to my car to investigate who were these people on the premises? We talked to them and they were pleasantly surprised to see the place had piqued out interest. We didn't have the opportunity to go inside the church, but we did take some photos of the outside and read a couple of plaques talking about the old building. If you're into history and a person who enjoys old architecture - this is worth seeing when in the area.

When your loved one passes, go ANYWHERE ELSE but here. My father passed very suddenly and I thought…read morePumphrey would be a good place to host services and I was sadly mistaken. We had family at the house, so we gave a courtesy call to reschedule the appointment, and he said "absolutely not". We only wanted to push the appointment back 30 minutes to an hour as it's been less than 48 hours since we received the tragic news and our big family is grieving a tragic loss. Mr. Pumphrey was not accommodating. This is very interesting because we still arrived to the appointment (about 15 mins late) and they did not have any other appointments that day. At the appointment (took about 2.5 hours) we were not offered water or anything to drink. Mr. Pumphrey would not even come to talk to my family, instead he sent his colleague to deliver the news that he would not take the time to come talk to us although he was in the building. I've never been to any business where I've asked for the manager and they blatantly declined.. especially when you're about to spend about $20,000! Pumphrey is more like DUMP-HREY as the way he treats his clientele is absolute trash. I'm pretty sure he is racist to anyone who isn't of Caucasian descent, so keep that in mind too.. Save your time and energy and go elsewhere to send your loved one to heaven in peace The only nice person who works there is Shelby, and I personally think she's out of place at such a mean-spirited environment. God help this place, it is very much needed.

Our meeting was comprehensive, and coupled with a tour of the elegant facility. Ms. Rawls - Bannister was both considerate, and an excellent communicator.

When we found out that he would be buried instead of in a niche, we decided to provide his ashes more protection against the elements. From the moment I talked to Coreen, I knew I could trust her to help with our concerns. She helped me pick out a marble urn and had it engraved. She then transferred his remains into his new and beautiful resting place. While no one ever wants to have to visit a funeral home, it's inevitable and we will pick Advent again!

The Advent memorial room and facilities are intimate, private and a beautiful setting. We could bring in food and snacks to share with friends and family who attended the memorial. I can't thank Coreen and her team enough for all the help and support they provided my family. I highly recommend Advent when you suffer the loss of a loved one.
