I spent the better part of a day trying to get some information on dental work. She set up an…read moreappointment for me a week later. Katrina asked for my insurance information and took almost a week to get back to me. The day before my appointment she called and told me that it would be 472 dollars for a consultation. Not for the work, or a procedure, but for a consultation on whether they could do the work. What kind of business works like this? If I want to buy a car, do I have to pay 500 dollars to see if I like the car. If i go to a restaurant do I have to pay 500 to look at the menu. All of this just seems rediculous ot me. I told her to just cancel my appointment, she asked why? REALLY!

This is going to be a long read, but I am tired of being dismissed, pushed aside, and unheard…read more On 11/21/21, I went to Montana Oral Surgery in Butte, MT, for what was supposed to be a routine wisdom tooth removal. I thought all was fine, although I remember briefly waking up during the procedure due to the amount of pain I was in after pulling my lower right wisdom tooth. (My ride home could quite literally hear me scream from the waiting room) After the procedure, I was told everything went well. It is noted in my medical records that there were no concerns(???) The days following I noticed that I no longer had feeling in my lower right portion of my jaw. This includes my tongue, gums, teeth, and a portion of my lower lip. I could not taste, feel pressure or any hold/cold sensation. Instead, there was a substantial amount of pain that radiated from my jaw to neck and head. I had let my oral surgeon know, and it was presumed that I had a dry socket and possible damage to my lingual nerve. I was told the feeling would return with time. Two weeks later, (still in substantial pain) I seen my primary, and was told I need to see a neurologist for my nerve pain as my lingual nerve in my jaw was most likely damaged. No one was ever contacted from that referral. I seen my primary dentist shortly after to see if he could help me in anyway. Unfortunately he could not help me either. Two months had passed and I was still in pain, and still had no feeling. I contacted my oral surgeon and asked for help seeking a neurologist or specialist who could help me. He had contacted a doctor in Bozeman who had done lingual repair in the past but he no longer performs this surgery, so he referred me to a nerve special in Seattle at Harborview Medical, as this was the closest option for me that we were aware of. Because of Covid and insurance/referall processes, I was finally able to see a specialist in Seattle on March 10th, 2022. I paid $1500 just to GET to this appointment with no compensation. I was there a total of 26 hours. Below I have my testing and scan results, showing damage to my lingual and IAN nerves. I was scheduled for nerve repair for May 2022, but unfortunately I was not able to afford travel costs as a single mother to go back and forth to Seattle multiple times. Time had passed, I opened a business, I had seen a couple different doctors asking about pain management as my window for repair had closed and the pain is now something I have to live with. April 2024, I had gone back to see my oral surgeon, because once again, I'm still in pain. It was discovered that I have left over root in my jaw. I was told it might be the cause of my pain, but it likely wouldn't change anything. I was scheduled to have surgery to get it removed, but after everything I had already been through, I was honestly terrified of going back to that office and having him work on me again. I decided to call the founder and main doctor of Montana Oral Sugery on 2/26/25. I spoke to the receptionist and explained my situation and that my pain had just gotten worse. I was told "you signed a waiver stating that these things can happen". I understand the legalities, but I didn't sign off on being in pain every single day of my life. I was asked "I'm sorry, but what would you like us to do for you"? I WANT YOU TO HELP ME. I'm so so tired of being in pain every single day. Watching and scheduling out what I eat so that I'll be able to chew my food. Biting my tongue everyday. Slurring my speech because I can't feel my tongue. Tylenol/ibuprofen every day multiple times a day. These are NOT things that I have signed off on. I've seen multiple doctors on my own accord, and Montana Oral Surgery offered me NO solution or sympathy. I have called the Great Falls and Helena offices crying. I'm tired of being told that there is nothing they can do for me. I am past the window to seek legal help. I felt the need to share my story to warn others of how poorly this practice has treated me. Others might have had a good experience, but the last 3 1/2 years of my life I have been in pain and have only gotten maybe 20% of my taste back. This has been a nightmare and they have offered very little to no resolution, no referrals and have pretty much swept me under the rug. This has taken a huge toll on my mental health. I don't even know where to go from here. This practice has completely derailed my quality of life. There has not been a day in almost 4 years that I am not in pain.

Do NOT go to Dr. Mongelli. I'm not one to write bad reviews, but my experience was so horrible,…read morethat Im literally begging anyone reading this to stay far away from her. Going to the dentist isn't the most comfortable thing, but the horrible smell and freezing temperatures inside her office cause discomfort before the appointment begins. She's extremely friendly, but she is so loud and kept referring to me as "friend" I assumed she didn't know my name. She told me I needed 2 root canals but only 1 crown. I needed some fillings and I figured I would have to book a new appointment for that since this was just a checkup, cleaning and assessment. But she didn't even look inside my mouth. She looked at the X-rays and told me she didn't do root canals so I'd have to go to a specialist. She refused to perform the check up and wouldn't be cleaning them. This was so bizarre. I got the information for the root canal "specialist" & tried to book another appointment with her for fillings. She told me she wouldn't be doing anything until the root canals were completed. A week later while getting my root canals the doctor informed me that I likely needed 4 not 2. I explained that Dr Mongelli said she could fill the other 2. I watched him turn to his assistant and shake his head. It was so obvious that he has dealt with Dr. Mongelli's recommendations and seemed irritated and frustrated that I was given bad advice. I went with the original 2 and followed up with Mongelli. She told me it wasn't necessary and they were just trying to make a buck. I wanted a crown on both of them but she told me that it wasn't necessary. 1 would be fine. It took me 3 more visits to get 5 fillings and a crown placed. I also never got that cleaning done. A few weeks later I got a very large bill. I called her office to get it fixed since I have insurance. They told me I didn't give them insurance info so I would have to pay them and request reimbursement. I definitely gave them my insurance and there was no way I was paying her 4 grand for 5 fillings and a crown. They refused to take my info over the phone and told me that I failed to provide it before the bill generated and I would have to deal with getting a reimbursement. She then asked for my credit card over the phone for payment. I told them I would just come down to the office and work it out. She told me not to come to her office ever again and if I didn't pay the full bill she was sending it to collections. I decided to call the state and my insurance to see what I needed to do. I had to call her back for the billing codes and was met with the same nasty attitude. She interrupted me and asked for my credit card, I explained I was on the other line with insurance and needed billing codes. She let out a loud "ugh" and said that I could deal with the collection agency because she wasn't wasting anymore energy on me. 2 weeks later while eating a taco my back tooth broke. And by broke l, I mean crumbled. It was a soft taco. I found another dentist and he informed me 4 fillings were missing. He was able to get my records from her and those 4 fillings are the ones she just did. That broken tooth was the one she said she could rebuild and a crown wasn't necessary. I am now getting bills from collections for her because I can't do anything with my insurance if they don't know what was billed. I gave them permission to get my bill from her and discuss the charges, but after 3 phone calls left on hold or disconnected my insurance told me they weren't able to get anything from her. The new dentist I went to is on the board and he let me know this would be addressed. That dentist also let me know that I did need the other 2 root canals. Please!!!! Do not go to this dentist.

People often write a review when they are unhappy - but this dentist? She's amazing. Her staff and hygienist are knowledgeable and friendly and they took the big scary out of much needed dental work. Wonderful environment (great music) and great dental experience. That sounds like an oxymoron... but it's possible. I actually look forward to going back to her.
