Stay away from New Tampa Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine especially Dr. Del A Torre..If you have an appointment be prepared to spend 2 hours. You spend all of that time in the waiting room minus the two minutes you spend with the doctor. He is arrogant and has no personality at all. He will literally push you towards procedures that are not necessary just to fatten his own pockets. His practice is a joke and I left his practice worse off than I was when I first started. Most egregious lack of required follow-up with insurers and other providers I have ever experienced. Denied medical testing and medical treatment solely due to the failure of this doctor to provide medical records and perform follow-up duties despite several in - person appointments and explicit requests. I am actually worse off now than when I had my first appointment several months ago , and have wasted a good amount of time and money with this doctor while still suffering from worsening pain and disability. The negligence is astounding. Although this is a more minor issue, it is very difficult to get through on the phone for patients and other providers alike. The phone will often ring up to 20 times and roll over to ring again in an endless loop. I've heard both providers and other patients complain about this issue. I warn any prospective patients that they could be in for a frustrating and ultimately unfruitful experience with this doctor. The office personnel may respond with a canned " please let us know how we can rectify this situation " but I have no confidence that this doctor will perform his required duties after having multiple opportunities to do so and failing in astonishing fashion. I strongly suggest that you find a different doctor. read more

We have been seeing this doctor for some time. Before moving to this bigger office. I must say he has grown to big to care about the patient. Service has gone steadily down hill and looks as if rock bottom has been achieved. First off, the wait time is always an issue. We wait on average an hour+ before being taken back to a waiting room...to wait longer. This last visit while waiting I observed a gentleman come from the back, told the girl up front he was told to come back in a week. She said ok and gave him an appointment slip. The physicians assistant came out and saw the appointment was two and a half weeks out and said that won't do, you were given only enough meds for one week. The girl then found an opening within the correct time frame. She actually had a couple the gentleman chose from. So openings were there, the girl for whatever reason chose not to give one until confronted by the P.A. The girl up front doesn't care, couldn't care less about your needs. The more you deal with her, the easier it is to see. The office gives a piss test about every visit, which I agree with and understand. Again while waiting, a lady was having trouble pissing. She drank a bottle of water she had brought, also a bottle given to her by the back office person. She evidently still had trouble going. She went up asking for another bottle of water and the front office girl told her to DIG THE BOTTLE OUT OF THE TRASH and fill it with the fountain water. Yes, you read that correctly. With everything going on, DIG HER USED BOTTLE OUT OF THE TRASH and fill it with the fountain water. A fountain that looks as if it had not been cleaned for some time. They have a mask mandate but have no problem telling you to dig out your used bottle from the trash to use a water fountain which has clearly not been clean for some time. Wow. Looked like they ended up going down to the gas station to buy water and come back. The office girl was not going to budge, no water for you. Sam's club case of water works out to about 10 cents a bottle and they couldn't even give the poor lady more than one. The upfront girls can truly not give a chit about others, it's just a job...NEXT. We were finally taken back... to wait even longer. We saw the, physicians assistant, which went ok. Nothing we needed was new. Should have been typical here's the prescription, see you in six months as has always been the case. WRONG For some reason we were given a months prescription and as was stated, nothing new or out of the ordinary. The way the office is set up now, they want you coming back much earlier, I'm guessing to cover the new P.A. salary. Six month span to one month for the exact same issue. It's all about the Benjamins at this office now. Our prescription should have been ready in a couple of hours which is the norm. Went up to our pharmacy and was told they had trouble with the order. Called doc office and was told they would take care of it. Never happened. Hours later we called our insurance and was told the paperwork was sent over filled out incorrectly. Again, for meds we had received before. Our insurance company faxed over the correct paper which only needed to be signed. It's been a week and a half, many phone calls to the docs office and still nothing. These people truly don't give a chit about their patients, how can they state anything but? We, like most people, don't like change. Even though we saw this doc twice a year and dealt with the b.s., being only twice a year. It may be time to move on. This last visit proved how far this office has gone downhill. It's been over a week and a half, we literally have nothing to show for our visit. read more

I wouldn't go to anyone else for pain management. He checks mri's & X-ray's to understand and validate why you're in pain. Also his appointments are on time. read more

Great Place, Great Staff and Great Doctor. Dr. Jose M. De La Torre, M.D. is the best and I give him credit for saving my life. He is the Best at what he does. Him, his staff and Janelle Bauer APRN-BC have your best interest in mind unlike other doctors I've seen that just want to write you a script and send you on your way. I have never walked out of an office before. It takes a LOT for me to complain and the fact that I'm posting it means it truly was something horrible. My first visit was over 2 hours but being the patient person I am, I really didn't think anything of it and the doctor said they were training someone new and were a little backed up. When I went to get my MRI and X-ray orders, there was mass confusion as to what the doctor wanted and what was being printed by the staff; all occurring while the doctor was standing right there. Again, it was my first visit so I didn't think twice. Fast forward to now. It's my second visit and I'm waiting in the lobby for an hour. I notice people arriving after me and being taken back to see him. I look at their appointment times and three had appointments after me. I said something and they finally called my name. When I told them about the three people, their response was that the doctor double books so it may SEEM like others are taken back but may possibly have the same time. But what she didn't know is that I saw their appointment times and they were all after me. When I mentioned this to the doctor, he said that he never double books. Hmmmmm..... I was then in a room to go over my results. The computer didn't work. We move to the next room and it still isn't working. The doctor had to get help about 5 times and still did not show me all that he wanted to show me. When discussing my results, he used such medical terminology that there was no way any one without a medical degree could understand. Also, he asked for an extra MRI that wasn't needed and admitted it and wanted another MRI and forgot to give me the order. I told him my frustration of having to go through an extra test and his response was that it didn't hurt my body. I still had to pay AND have to go back for the order he forgot to give me! After 2 hours, I was done. I came in with a new injury and he never examined me. I expressed all of the above and there was not one apology. That's all I truly wanted. I'm sorry we ordered an extra test. I'm sorry we forgot to give you an order for an important neck MRI. I'm sorry we forgot about you in the waiting room. I'm sorry I didn't examine your possible broken tailbone. I'm sorry I didn't know how to work the computer program. But no. His reply? All pain management facilities are like this! And then he had the nerve to say the person he works with is always on time but doesn't take time to answer your questions. Who speaks negatively about a counterpart like that? Again, for me to write a negative review means it had to be bad. I am extremely patient but this conglomerate of issues was too much and I would love to prevent someone else from having to go through this. read more

I'm not prone to writing reviews - but my experience at this office was so terrible that I felt the need to warn others. I have extreme back pain and Dr. de la Torre provided me with a referral to have an MRI done - my insurance company denied the procedure since Dr. de la Torrre did not provide sufficient information for the insurance company to determine that the procedure was "medically necessary" - it took Dr. de la Torre almost a month and numerous phone calls from myself to get the information to the insurance company so that we could get the procedure approved. Once I had the procidure approved and performed - I scheduled a follow-up visit with Dr. de la Torre to review those results so we could come up with an appropriate action plan for treatment of my issues... my appointment was for 1:15 - I arrived early as was escorted to a patient room at 1:05 - at 2:00pm after no one even acknowledging that I had been in the room for 55 minutes - I left and will NEVER visit this office again and would recommend anyone looking for Pain Management Treatment in this area steer as clear of this office as possible. I will be contacting my insurance company this afternoon to ensure that they no longer refer patients to this physician!! I can't, in good conscience, even give this office a 1 star review... although I have to as I can't submit the review without giving at least that. read more
