He has a poor bedside manner. His staff seemed to be a little scared of him. He is definitely not a doctor that you would appreciate if you would like to understand what is going on or what the plan is for yourself or your child. We requested a new doctor at Florida ENT (they have multiple locations and doctors) and we were told we couldn't transfer doctors once established with Dr. Requena. He may be great at what he does (not sure??) but we are now looking for a new ENT because there is no way I would trust him to operate on my child if he cannot provide basic information at the time of our office visits.

Meet my doctor, Dr. Stephen Meyer from the Sun Lake Family Practice up in Lutz, Florida. Dr. Meyer…read moreused to be part of a larger medical group located on Linebaugh Avenue in the Carrollwood area, but he moved his practice up north last year to support a base of patients on the north side of Tampa, and I elected to drive the extra 15-20 minutes to stay as his patient. Sun Lake is a part of the same medical family as the former Northwest Family Medical Center on Linebaugh, and so it was quite easy transferring my chart up to the new office. Dr. Meyer is now located in the Sun Lake Professional Center which is north on Dale Mabry, past the northern end of the Veterans, past Calusa Trace, past Cheval......start watching for the cows on both sides of the road.....and there he is on the left in a small professional office complex. Dr. Meyer has been a family practitioner since 1989, and was an Army General Medical Officer in Desert Shield and Desert Storm before that. He is extremely knowledgeable, very personable, and really takes the time to get to know his patients. It's not uncommon to spend an extra few minutes talking about a new exercise program that I can use while traveling, or discussing the medicinal benefits of various types of hot tea, or even the details on that really good restaurant that I discovered last weekend. The mission statement in the examination rooms really says it all, "To provide the most compassionate and best quality care possible for each individual in order to enhance his or her quality of life. This includes not only physical care but also spiritual, mental, and educational support." That really says it all for me, and it explains why I will continue to go out of my way to see Dr. Meyer.

Dr. Meyers retired! Sad time as he was the only person keeping me at this practice because he truly…read morecared for his patients. He just didn't write scripts for unnecessary prescriptions or tests. He took time with each patient and you could truly see his care. Now it's been a little while since I've been as I typically only go for my routine exams for prescription renewals. Keep in mind I've been coming here for years and I've also been on the same meds for longer than I've been coming here. I called a few weeks ago to schedule my routine exam and was told at that time that they'd send a note to the nurse practitioner for my script refills since I booked my appointment. They'd also get my blood work script out to my home address as I'd need to get that done about a week or two before my visit. Today I called because no script received to date and I was notified by my pharmacy that my script refill was denied. Spoke to the receptionist who informed me that the nurse denied my refills because she wanted to see me first. Also informed that she didn't approve my blood work because she needs to meet with me to determine what I actually need. Keep in mind I only have 10 days worth of meds left so irritated I explained that this was absurd. I cannot just simply stop taking my meds for weeks while the nurse determines next steps. I've been on these for years and there's been no change to my health to indicate it's ok to stop taking and even the warning on the meds state to not stop taking unless consultation with a doctor which I've had no consultation or tests to confirm it is ok to stop taking. In looking through my file she noticed that I was coded as a new patient so she explained since that wasn't correct she'd send my file back through to see if she'd approve. Today I just couldn't take it anymore and changed due to my experience. I just had enough and switched to another practitioner. I should not have to deal with the mere stress of this. I mean come on!

REASONS TO NEVER PICK NP ISLAM GANIE AS YOUR PSYCHIATRIST:…read more 1) Information blocking. Good luck getting your notes/records, he was willing to give me two records out of twenty sessions. Florida has laws in place to require providers to give records from all sessions for continuity of care, but he argues "two records are enough." Absolutely disgusting behavior from a nurse practitioner. 2) You're required to see him weekly. No other psych I've ever had required this. With other therapists, you can skip a week or two no problem. Not possible with NP Ganie, he will write you a nasty message for rescheduling one appointment. He forced me to see him every single week, zero flexibility whatsoever. No other psychiatrist has ever been so overbearing or inflexible. 3) Prices are insane. If you lose your insurance, seeing him is $300, and he won't write any prescriptions unless you see him weekly. You'll never have the choice to see him every two weeks, or once a month, etc. And if you ever need a letter (even if you pre-write it) he'll charge $800+. Other doctors sign pre-written letters for free. 4) He charges $200 for late or missed appointments (not billable to insurance obviously) despite the fact that he was an hour late to one of my appointments (literally missing it, but I was willing to still see him the hour after.) So him saying "no patient has ever waited more than 15 minutes in our two years" is a blatant lie. 5) His office rules say "Slander, libel, or defamation of staff or the office may result in legal action." Thankfully I have proof of all of my claims, but there's a good reason he includes this in his long list of overbearing office rules. He wants to scare you into not criticizing his practice. Other psychiatrists don't have to say "we'll sue for slander" pre-emptively to every single patient. 6) "Patients who have been discharged must wait a minimum of 4 months before requesting to return. The current waitlist for returning patients is approximately 6 months. A $250 non-refundable Return of Patient Appointment Fee must be paid upon scheduling." These are all just scare tactics so you continue seeing NP Ganie every single week. "Six month waitlist" is total BS considering you can see his availability on Grow Therapy and he has tons of open slots every single day. 7) He will intimidate you into returning all your medication to him personally if you try to change psychiatrists. No, I'm not kidding. I have screenshots as proof. UPDATE: He just sent another threatening text message to me, see the attached screencap. Notice how he can't say that anything I said is wrong, he just vaguely mentions "discrepancies" (no specifics because he's unable to name any) and threatens me that "further action is now pending" despite the fact I've been discharged for weeks now. I genuinely believe NP Islam Ganie is a sociopath. I also attached my response explaining how he's violating federal law by threatening legal action in response to an honest review (not that he cares, he's violated Information Blocking laws, he's violated DEA regulations by admitting that he coerced prior patients to return all their medications to him personally for alleged "disposal" under threat of being discharged, he repeatedly intimidates patients with legal threats just for leaving an honest negative review, etc.)
