Had two custom made outfits one tux and one black suit I could not believe the quality and service some of the best I have ever had.

I needed to rent a suit for a wedding I'm in so I went to get it all taken care of on a Sunday morning when they first open. Upon arriving, someone was already in front of me. The man behind the desk told me that he would be right with me and that he was going to be by himself. Then a wave hit. Person after person after person walked in. Some wanted to buy things, some wanted to try on stuff that came in, some wanted to pick up. Meanwhile, there were 2 of us already there getting measurements and stuff for a suit rental. The man did his best to get to everyone, and still pay close attention when coming back to continue helping me. I can't remember his name right now, but if you go there and see a Slimmer guy with a big black beard, he is great! Fantastic worker! Anytime I shop for this type clothing, I'll go here because of him! This company should be thrilled with the employee they have! read more

Went into store Monday morning & assisted by Vince who definitely went above & beyond to help me out in a rush situation. He put my needs and concerns first and got me all squared away by the promised time that same day. A big thank you also to the tailor , apologies i can not recall her name, but she made it all possible for Vince to fulfill his promise. Vince was just helping out that Newark store that day and I am certainly glad he was there to help. Found out he manages the Greenville DE store so now I'll have 2 go to spots cause I certainly will be returning soon. read more

I have two suites from this location. The quality of the suites are good however. Service is slow and not all salespeople are created equal here. Also I can back to get a second pair of pants to go with my suite. Not happening. They can't get them, they can not order them. What's up with that? If you want better service and for the same price go to Nordstrom. More so if you are a bigger guy. Their sale prices do not apply to big guys. read more

I had a TERRIBLE experience at the Jos. A. Bank store in NEWARK, Delaware. The SEAMSTRESS was HORRIBLE. SHE REFUSED TO FIX MY LONG PANTS' ZIPPER. I brought them to this store because the Greenville store (my usual store) recommended I take them there, since their seamstress was very busy. I told the people at the Newark store that I was on a tight deadline, because I needed these pants for a trip to the Virgin Islands that I was soon leaving on. The woman at the desk assured me that they would be done in time. When I never got a call to come in and pick them up, I called the store. I was told that the seamstress said that I had to wash the pants. I told the man on the phone that they had already been SOAKED AND WASHED (so washed twice). He still told me to come in and do it again. When I went in the next day, I spoke to a new person at the counter. He went back and got the pants and agreed they were COMPLETELY CLEAN. In fact, they looked brand new. I asked to speak to the seamstress, but he told me that she had just stepped out. I have no idea why she acted this way. I have been a longtime customer of Jos. A. Bank for decades and I will never go to the Newark store again. I am now short of a pair of pants that I much needed for my trip. This SEAMSTRESS should be FIRED! I went in to look for a shirt in a large size. There is a sign in the door that states to use other door. Silly me, I walked down the sidewalk to look for the other door. There is no other door. I go into the store and I was not greeted at all. I looked through all the racks for what I needed, still with no one acknowledging me. I wound up walking out. I will not go back to that store. read more

With a sudden death in the immediate family, I was caught in the scenario of having packed for a trip with a suitcase lacking the necessary suit for a funeral services. Rather than go business casual, I decided the proper thing to do was find a sports jacket. To my surprise, Jos. A. Bank at Christiana offered a complete suit set for me for not much more than a sports jacket. They helped me find something that fit me well (with a bit of post decision tailoring) and was at a fair price point. There was very good customer service here and no hard pressure was given to buy additional accessories like dress shoes or ties, which I either bought elsewhere or had at home from the collection of the recently deceased. I bought a traveler tailored fit sharkskin suit in navy blue a little over a year ago from my local Jos.a.bank in Newark, DE. I was extremely disappointed that the seat of the pants ripped after two wears. The tear is not along the seam, so the store said that it is not reparable. I was prepared to pay to replace the pants entirely, however, when the store brought out the pants in the same exact color code, the shading didn't match. They also told me that it is not worth ordering a replacement online because the shading will not match from the online store, as well. One of the draws of buying a suit from a chain is that I should be able to replace individual pieces as needed. I can't recommend spending your money here. read more

I like their travelers collection; used to shop at the Greenville location but they were always out of flat front pants. this location near Christiana Hospital has plenty flat pants and some nice suits. John ( I think he is the manager) was very helpful in helping me pick the right suit. The tailor, Ivan, did a great job. I recommend this team at this location. read more

I went to the Christiana Jos A Bank looking for a navy suit for myself and six groomsmen for my wedding. I thought it should be rather simple but it was a lengthy process. My fiance and I had to constantly check up on things and double check their work every step of the way. Honestly it was way more of a struggle than I thought it should be. Quick summary - Overall there seems to be very little communication between the staff of what's going on and only the manager seems to actually know the products (everyone else seemed a bit oblivious as you will see below). We were told the wrong thing several times and they just didn't seemed to have their act together at all. I have absolutely zero faith in them to alter my suit so I will be taking it elsewhere (another customer actually came in when I was in the store one time and was complaining about his alterations). The unfortunate experience is a bit lengthy but I've provided it below as I don't believe in giving a bad review without proper cause and you can be the judge based on the events. I'll start with the positives (since there aren't many): We hit a good sale so all the suits (Traveler or Signature) were $199 each. Jos A Bank was able to hold those prices for all groomsmen over a few week period even though the sale ended that weekend. The negatives: 1) We were initially thinking custom suits and the salesperson we spoke to our first time there said because of the sale the custom suits would be $350 each. When we went back a week later, that person wasn't there and the next person we spoke to said absolutely not and the lowest they would be for a custom suit is $700. 2) After determining custom suits were out we explored the $199 option and landed on a Signature suit because we liked the color. The salesperson told us that it appeared to be limited sizing in the Signature suit (perhaps because they were discontinuing that color) and we should go with the Traveler. That was fine with us but we wanted the same color as the Signature ("bright navy"). We were told that color wasn't an option in Traveler so we had to compromise on a color we weren't crazy about. Long story short here, the Traveler DID come in the original "bright navy" color we wanted but we didn't find this out until days later after we researched it ourselves. 3) I ordered my Traveler suit (in "bright navy") and asked that they hold the "bright navy" vest that was a Signature collection vest (since Traveler doesn't have a matching vest) so I could ensure the different collections matched. The vest was $120 but 50% off at the time we went in and the manager said they would honor that sale. I went back in to pickup my suit and vest (luckily they matched) a week or two later and when they brought out the vest there was a sticker, very carefully placed but still noticeable, over the $120 that said $140. So the discontinued Signature collection vest I had them hold suddenly increased $20? I questioned this and the salesperson brought over a manager who stumbled over explaining that "all vests" were marked up... even the ones in the backroom off the floor being held. I pushed back and ultimately got the original price but this seemed like they tried to pull a fast one. 4) I went in with a couple of the groomsmen one day to get their suits (because at this point I had zero confidence in this store) and I think I had more knowledge of suits than the salesperson that "helped" us. He basically just started handing the guys random sizes off the rack; skipping around in sizes. One jacket was obviously super tight in the arms of one groomsman and instead of grabbing the next size up, the salesperson asked how it fit and what he thought of it. 5) Out of five groomsmen that had to pickup their suits, they only called two. I had to call about the other three and when I did (two-three weeks after going in) they acted as if we knew they had them. I said that nobody ever called any of us to inform us the suits came in and the excuse was "the one manager handling our order usually only comes in at night and gets pretty busy". For one of the groomsman they called, he went in that same day to pickup his suit (and another suit for another wedding) but they couldn't find it in the back under his name (who they called); the whole order was under my name; including separate suit of a different wedding. 6) When I picked up the final three suits for my groomsmen, I asked about the reward points (since everyone used my account) to make sure that all seven suits (200 each), one vest (60), and pair of shoes (100) were tallied up for the expected $150 reward. Even this simple task of adding up the points took over 10 minutes. It took me looking at the screen and pointing out numbers for him to see I was over 1500 points; even then he said "yea I guess you would get $150 then". Overall this was a terrible experience. I'd suggest going elsewhere or going MONTHS in advance and be ready to hand hold the entire way. read more

I visited this JoS A Bank this morning to return items that I purchased about a week ago. I have patronized this specific location many times in the past and experienced incredible customer service, however today was a different story. After being called a liar (he actually used liar when speaking to me) because he told me that I had worn the clothing I was trying to return I asked to speak to a manager. To my surprise, the man I was already speaking to was the manger on duty today. I had one pair of shoes, a belt and two pairs of khakis I was returning. After he accused me of trying to return the shoes after I had already worn them, he said he need to further inspect the belt and pants because I had lied about not wearing the shoes. At this point he now begins to smell the khakis I'm returning. I was at my limit of restraint by this point so I simply laughed it off, packed up my clothes and shoes and left this location. I am an engineering professional that works 7 days a week providing construction services to international airports. I am not in a position to have to return items that I have already worn. This place will not see another dollar from me. read more
