Clothes aren't nice enough to give snooty boutique treatment. I brought my 14 year old daughter into this empty establishment full of cubicle clothes, in hopes of being fitted for her 8th grade semi-formal. She prefers to dress like a male, and clearly this bothered the staff there, as they chose to appear too busy folding clothes to make the store any money. The older woman with the accent asked if she could help us, and I said "we're looking for slacks, a shirt and vest for my daughter for her prom". She asked what size slacks, I responded 28", and she informed me that they start at size 30". I followed up with, "what about a shirt and vest?", she replied "for who?, I said "for me", she said, "what size are you?", and I repeated to her that we were there to shop my daughter, who was standing next to me feeling awkward enough as is. The sad thing is, we were at the Boston Pride parade the day before, and my daughter felt so good about herself, then the following day, this clothes folder takes it upon herself to make the conversation as difficult as possible to not assist my child. After we looked through the call-center-special clothes for another minute or so, we realize that we were definitely in the wrong place for what we were in search of. A man with a measuring tape comes out from the back, speaks to the woman that couldn't assist us, then asks what he can help us with. I told HIM, "I'm looking to have my daughter dressed for the prom" he responds with a laugh, "they still have those?".. good one, Don Wrinkles.. I went to the store because for some reason I thought "Jos A" was Joseph Abboud, who is a classy man that goes to the same gym as me. I asked the comedian with the frumpy clothes if Joseph Abboud owned the store and he said they didn't, so we left, as we were clearly in the wrong place. We went to Macy's across the street, found my daughter a nice black Calvin Klein suit and she is ready for her semi! I will never return to Jos A Bank again, and am tempted to go beyond this post in spreading the word of how they judged/treated my child. read more

I've been an occasional customer of Jos A Bank for about 6 years and have always had very good service from them regardless of branch although Braintree is my 'home' store. After a year or so of not shopping there (loaded up good prior visits) I ordered some shirts and jackets online but I goofed on my sizes so returned them to the store. Shirts were exchanged on the spot and jackets were reordered and came in within the week. Fortunately no alterations were needed but in the past an alterations typically took about a week and were spot on. Now that I've got my sizes down I have ordered additional items online which should be in by next weekend. Watch the sales and you can not bet the deals. I now have anything that might need alterations delivered to the store so I get professional input. The service I've received is great. I needed a suit like yesterday. All my suits didn't fit because of weight loss, a good thing. I was waiting to lose more weight before buying another suit. But something came up and I needed one pronto. So on a Saturday 3 days before my needed date I set off for Jos. A. Bank. I arrived 20 minutes early and was prepared to wait in the car but Erica, the assistant manager, saw me and can you believe this, let me in early. I saw her doing paper work which I obviously interrupted . No problem. When I said I needed the suit asap, no problem. What about tailoring, no problem. So here we have someone that , is very pleasant, very accommodating and just plain nice ,smiling all the time! So Louis the tailor comes out with Erica directing me and starts to do the alteration measurements. The jacket was fine but the pants needed to be altered. Geez, I said I need it soon. No problem can you wait? WHAT! Can I wait, YES! are you serious. So one suit, two dress shirts...oh I almost forgot. I down loaded a coupon from the internet to my phone and it was a hundred off. But I didn't qualify so I begin to put my phone away and Erica tells me there is another qualifying coupon and shows me on my phone. This coupon was on top of the suit being the suit for the day. To continue, one suit, 2 dress suits later I'm on my way out. Arrived at 9:40 AM , they let me in before opening! and I'm out the door by 10:15 AM. Superlative employees giving great service with a more than pleasant and extremely professional attitude. I could see that Erica's coffee was untouched the whole time I was there. I felt badly so I said I hope I'm not insulting you but may I leave this $10 for a cup of coffee for you and Louis, which I did over her protests of "I didn't have to do that." We came here after an awful experience at men's warehouse. We decided on custom, made to measure suits and were told they would be ready within 4 weeks. We had 8 weeks until the wedding. Everything went great until our JP went in for his "try-on fitting". This is the fitting for when the suit first comes in and any minor adjustments need to be made. Apparently they ordered the jacket so big that it wasn't even fixable... this is now 9 days before the wedding. I received a phone call from my groom saying that they would "do their best to match the other suits." HA, $700 later... on a CUSTOM suit. Meaning all his measurements were taken before the original order even went in. It's not like it was our fault that someone typed the wrong numbers into the order. After paying this much one only expects to get what they pay for. After a few phone calls expressing how unacceptable it was to not fix their mistake... they assured me it would be ready the day we were scheduled to leave the state for the wedding. My question is why I had to get upset in order for them to fix THEIR mistake. They did get the suit in time and it was all good. Until the wedding day... When my brothers suit ripped before the wedding even started. The seem on the pants pocket just fell apart and he had a big hole in his pocket/side leg the entire wedding. So when we got back my mother took the pants back to have them fixed. which they did.. right one the spot. ya well that same seem came apart again and the hole is back. This is a custom suit... aka the pants are the perfect size. it's not like there is no breathing room and they are ripping because they are skinny jeans or something. just poor quality. The only reason I gave two stars was because Stephanie was polite and very helpful. They should thank her for her customer service. read more

Stephanie the store manager was excellent. I walked into the store needing two new suits, and that is exactly what I walked out with. I am not a fashion Guru by any stretch. So I let Stephanie drive, and I gave input on what I liked and disliked. She made the experience, quick, painless, and even enjoyable. I will definitely be back to Jos a Bank thanks to Stephanie. Ask for Stephanie! I had ordered a suit online and the customer service people on the phone couldn't help me figure out whether I could exchange the pants or not. Round and round I went, but got nowhere. I brought my order to the store and she took care of the rest! She knows how to take care customers. Highly recommend! read more
