The gym magically operates like organized chaos - everyone know where they're supposed to go next, and I haven't seen anyone crashing into each other. Sometimes it's so busy in there with various different groups practicing next to each other, but it works. There are viewing windows where parents can sit and watch their kids....or pretend they're watching their kids while they are really looking at their phones. Unfortunately these spots fill up with uninterested parents so that the parents who actually want to watch their kids have nowhere to sit. We had a 4 year old birthday party here recently and it was so easy - they did everything for us and even cleaned up afterwards.

The party room was a little small but everything available to families and children were intended for children- small chairs, tables etc., just as Maria Montessori would want for a early childhood environment. Honestly -- Loved the opening circle time! Loved how families were asked to do some supervision and support too. Loved the parachute - adults helpi g for kids' joy! Loved the dramatic play dogs and cats game with knocking down or picking up the cones! Piñata was a hit as well! Well done! I'm trying to figure out if my children would like this for their parties next year.

The owners are very nurturing with the kids and seem to really enjoy them. They come up with a new theme and set up every week so the kids and parents don't get bored. I had planned on enrolling my kids into a martial arts program so that they could become…read more'bullyproof'. I was initially apprehensive any martial arts club since I know nothing about them, especially the culture of such clubs. I didn't want a hard-nose tough-guy gym. I wanted a gym that would make my kids confident, self-sufficient (bullyproof), disciplined and part of a 'family'. My neighbor (member of Renzo Gracie NH) convinced me to try Renzo Gracie NH (Exeter branch) as he said the owner wanted a more family oriented atmosphere. The owner, Kevin Landry, is the BEST. He truly LOVES kids. He knows how to press kids while keeping to the training and learning. He keeps the kids engaged and focused - so do the other instructors. I attended (a free) first class and I then signed up my 5 and 3 year old. At the time, the classes were limited. Today there are many more options as Renzo Gracie NH is expanding. My 5 year old has a great time when she's there. After a month, it was a little too much for my 3 year old so we're holding her out until she gets a little older. There was no penalty for withdrawing my youngest. Professor Landry completely understood and accommodated. The place is clean, friendly and recently expanded! All of the instructors are professional and understand the need for self defense, especially for kids. They teach 'defend, control, finish'. My daughter has already used some of her newly learned skills in a couple of different situations (both at recess at school). It has not only piece of mind for the family (my daughter is a little peanut) but my daughter is more confident and will not be bullied. She has also become friends with some of the other kids. This is a great family setting for jiu jitsu. I'm sure it's excellent for adults too!

However, they continued charge my card 2 months after the cancellation. After a bit of back and forth, they finally refunded my card for the unauthorized charge. Better yet go somewhere else.

I've noticed a dramatic difference in my athletic abilities and I can always count on the coaches to push me to my limits. They give great instruction and make suggestions according to my personal goals. When I started, I had no experience with boxing or kickboxing, now I am confident with my technique and I'm eager to learn more so I recently started jiujitsu and MMA training there as well. The coaches are friendly and no matter if you walk in knowing nothing or have some training already, you'll get an amazing workout and great results! My kids love the classes as well do I and my spouse.

Dave worked us pretty hard. But it was such a good hard work out. I figured i better sign up for the next month then and there or I would probably find an excuse not to go back! LOL. The other women (i was clearly the oldest probably by about 15 years) were in various stages of getting in shape and there were some younger HS students as well. Every one of them made me feel welcome, there was no avoiding me because I was the oldest etc. In fact there was this particular exercise that we did and since I was the slowest i was still going to finish my 20 wall touches ( you had to do situps and then run and touch the wall so many times. ) I will NEVER forget how one of the youngest students and one of the 30 year old student , hopped down to the mat and finished them with me and pushed me on and the other students cheered. This isn't just martial arts at Spero's...;this is family. I went there for several months and only stopped when i got a new job with hours til 7 pm, but if I can move up my shift soon by a half hour, i will surely be back! Besides, I need more stripes! Yep I even earned a stripe or two! i also enjoyed going in the cage and working out and sparring! Boxing was my favorite part, the warm up jog my least favorite. When I needed to be pushed Dave knew it and the few things I wasn't able to do physically he knew I tried and that was all he would ask. If nothing else, see if he has any self defense classes coming up. We would do that on Saturdays and it was awesome!! Trust me, you will love this place. I have seen Daves kids classes and those kids have a blast and Dave has boundless energy and patience with them. I will say too that all the men that attend there are polite and eager to encourage everyone too. Its just a great vibe there. I miss all my fellow students and know that you haven't seen the last of me yet! xo
