I ate so fast I forgot to pictures my apologies! Alright so this place was really darn good. It isn't very big and looks like it's a small business. When entering one of the workers asked I was eating in and told me to have a seat anywhere he would be right out. He was prompt in getting me chips and salsa and brought me a menu. The food: I got three tacos. One steak, one chicken, and one chorizo. I also asked for hot sauce and was given a large squeeze bottle(it was delicious). All three tacos were delicious. I think the chicken may be my favorite but it was super close! It came out quickly and it was very fresh! The service: my server was kind and quick to get my order and bring the food. It took a second extra to pay but that was only because I didn't know to go up to the register to pay! Overall. This has to be the worst food in Bolingbrook. Ordered small guacamole chips, beans and a taco. Guacamole was a mix of salsa and maybe a spoon of avacado. Beans were like water with no flavor. We stopped in for an early dinner. Since we only in the area for a doctor's appointment we went off of the Yelp reviews in choosing Johnny's. First off, they did not have chicken available for any menu items, and you get plastic flatware. My mother in-law and I had the taco dinner with ground beef, my husband had the burrito dinner with pork. The only thing with any flavor at all was the salsa and it was just so-so. The rice and beans were very bland, I make better rice at home. The beans we had to add the salsa to and plenty of salt to get any flavor. My husband was ill for 3 days after eating there, it must have been the pork since that was the only thing different that he had eaten. Would not recommend, and we will not be returning. read more

The carnitas was so flavorful and juicy/fatty, best I've had around the area. Their corn tortilla chips were a nice change from other usual flour tortilla chips. I had ordered to go. Had the Milanesa De Pollo Torta. Breaded Chicken was cooked perfectly and the ingredients were fresh; tomatoes and lettuce. Even the bread was fluffy fresh. I could only eat half, since it was very large. Had some green sauce to give it some mild flavor. Also tried their shrimp taco on a flour tortilla. You can also choose corn tortilla. Had cilantro and onion. Should have asked what other topping they offer. But it was still good. It was nice to see the shrimp are deveined. I stopped in after work for a few tacos and was very surprised by how good they were. I had the Al Pastor tacos and they were great. I talked my wife into ordering dinner a week later. I got a stack burrito and she got Al Pastor tostadas and she hasn't stopped talking about it since. My burrito was excellent. Oh, and don't forget the hot sauce, it's the best around. I just received my order of menudo and as someone who has had her fair share of hangovers and menudo all over Chicagoland this is one of the best ones I've had. This is loaded! with tripe. Me & hub stopped by the Goodwill which is in the same mall as this place and decided to give them a try. It seemed nice, small. We saw several people leaving & entering so I figured it was good. Actually good is not the word. Great, delicious are the words. Great service, delicious food. A nice female server took order and we ordered junior burritos. I would hate to see a regular burrito. The jr size one is suffice unless u got a huge appetite. Lol. The horchata was tasty. Nicely decorated place. Good music. Nearby hole-in-the-wall Marmelly had way better meat to taco fixing ratio. Between that and the drink upgrade jip, we won't be back. Also, Marmelly has menudo every day, so we won't have to wait until the weekend to have theirs. Before ordering, we'd verified that we could pay the difference to upgrade two dinner meal free small fountain drinks to large ones. Two drink upgrades at $0.80 per upgrade from a $1.95 small fountain drink to a $2.75 large fountain drink is $1.60, not $3.00. What's worse is the girl at the counter proceeded to act like she did us a favor by charging us for one large drink instead of two when we went to pay after dinner. Which still would absolutely not make sense considering the large drink is again $2.75, not $3.00, so still completely faulty reasoning. In fact, the $1.50 number per upgrade seems completely arbitrary given numbers on the menu. Besides the fact that we had clearly asked for and confirmed getting size upgrades, and upcharging anyone isn't about doing them favors. It's certainly not about the inconsequential sum. I was a skeptic for 5 years refusing to believe a place called "Johnny's" (I misread the name) could be worth the effort. I was pleasantly surprised when I finally broke down and decided to try them back in January. This is now my go-to Mexican restaurant. I especially enjoy the chorizo, pastor and steak burritos. I often order their home made hot sauce (they call it molcajete salsa) togo. They also have several specialties on the menu that look and smell delicious. This place is highly recommended. read more

During that first visit I tried the steak fajitas and pastor tacos with cilantro and onions. The tacos were tasty but the steak was tough. My family confirmed that the steak, although flavorful, was too chewy. Thinking maybe it was an off-night, I decided to give Jonny's another try. Today I stopped by for lunch and learned that tacos were the featured special. This time I read reviews before ordering and settled on the carne asada taco dinner and ground beef dinner with a side of chips & salsa. I am so glad that the taco beef is 100% better quality than the fajita beef. I am confident about trying other items on the menu now including the burritos. We will definitely add this spot to our regular rotation for quarantine approved take-out. Why not let someone else do the cooking while supporting a local business? Not only is this food incredibly authentic and DELICIOUS, the staff here is wonderful. I walked into the restaurant, late after work, groggy and out of it, for a to-go order. The lady at the register took my order as normal, no questions asked. I looked around and realized they were cleaning up. I asked what time they close and they said 8:00, it was 8:15. I apologized profusely and she said it was no problem and smiled. This speaks volumes about this place. It goes beyond their terrific food. They back their restaurant up so much they were happily willing to take me after their close. Please don't be like my foolish self and roll in here after hours. I was actually shocked at how good these tacos were. I've hit a lot of recommended Mexican places in that area of Bolingbrook and this place beats the hell out of them. I ordered one of each taco and I ordered it the Caucasian way "with flour tortilla" and everything on them. The one with the peppers had too many peppers with very little meat, that was my only complaint. The rest of them were delicious, the meat was tender, not dry at all like some of those other five star places, and very tasty. The rice was cooked perfectly, the beans were good, I really couldn't say too much negative about it. I probably would have gave a five star if I ate inside, it was a pickup order. I'm at this taco location every Monday! $1.95 tacos. Can't beat it! I actually stumbled into this place after thrifting in Goodwill. I was starving and needed food, fast! So glad I saw this place next door as I've been back too many times to count! I even have my family hooked! The restaurant is small, but standard for a taqueria spot. The waitresses there are fantastic and very polite. If you dine in you get complimentary chips and salsa which are yummy! I absolutely love their salsa. I bet it is made fresh daily :). The tacos always come out fresh and hot. It seems like the chef never stops cooking! My preference has to be the cilantro and onion as far as toppings, but sometimes I'll spring for all the toppings :). Cheese is extra for the dollar tacos! The steak is seasoned and cooked very well. I expected a bit more flavor from the chicken and the steak. The nachos were amazing however. I ate them as my meal since I didn't really like the tacos and had leftovers.
