FirstKey Homes - This is what the home looked like upon our arrival from another state! The horror and nobody to help us!

What I appreciated most was that he took the time to stay, test everything, and make sure the problem was actually fixed before leaving. FirstKey should definitely hire more people like Eric--people who truly understand their trade, take pride in their work, and care about doing the job correctly the first time. Great experience all around!

I have regretfully been a FirstKey Homes resident since 2021, and the Dallas market has been a…read moreridiculous joke. For more than six months I have asked for the Property Manager, Sonya Gonzales-James, to call me. The property administrators told me they sent her a request to call me. The FKH Support Center also sent requests and emailed me to confirm it. I still have not received a single phone call. Every time I get an email from her and ask for a call back, I just get another email. At this point I can only assume the phone lines are broken. I have also tried to reach the Dallas District Manager, Jordan Campbell. I received one call that ended in a voicemail, and after calling back several more times, I have heard nothing. I can only imagine this is a Dallas market best practice. The issues themselves are simple. FKH Support has offered to help, and the Dallas market keeps saying no. This all started when the home came with nothing but dirt for a yard. When I put in pavers to create a place to sit and make the property look better, I was told I had violated my lease, had to remove them, and was fined for what they called building materials while doing the work. Quite frankly, it feels like the market works hand in hand with the city on fines instead of working with its residents. I removed the pavers in 2025, and the yard went right back to bare dirt with no grass. That should have been the end of it. Then in August 2026 the same issue was raised again with no conversation, just a Notice to Cure. On top of that, I paid for a tree removal after the maintenance manager told me I would be reimbursed. I never was. My fence is falling down. FKH sent their own maintenance team, who confirmed the wood is rotted and needs to be replaced, yet I was told a fence is a "luxury item" and I should keep replacing the slats myself. After reading the other reviews here, I'm surprised FKH hasn't replaced the entire Dallas market leadership team for its many levels of incompetence. FirstKey says it wants residents to feel welcomed home. In the Dallas market, we are instead made to feel responsible for substandard living conditions.

I feel kind of late to the party because I didn't find out about apartment/home locators until…read morepretty recently. It all started on Instagram with Smart City Apartments. They post regular content and often do negotiated deals. However, I quickly learned that the only way you can really take advantage of these deals is if you're ready to sign then and there. It is first-come first-serve and unfortunately, it was not practical for most people to wait around for the perfect deal not knowing the timeline. Most apartments require you to provide 60 day notice of intent to vacate. This timeline felt shorter for me because I was going on an international business trip. I did not really have the time to look around and wasn't sure what to do. Luckily for me, I stumbled across The Realm Agency on Instagram. I liked that their posts showed pricing and location. Sometimes apartment locators can be really obscure in my opinion. I sent them a message and sure enough someone contacted me shortly after. That's when I had the privilege to meet Chris- the best locator around! Chris was super attentive to all of my needs and questions. He inquired about what type of apartment I was looking for, amenities, my budget, expected move in date, etc. I gave him some areas I was interested in and within a few days he had compiled an extensive list for me. I am not lying when I say that Chris worked around the clock to help me find the perfect apartment! We were texting each other during random hours since I was traveling and working in both the Philippines and South Korea. He always kept me informed about my options and was never pushy on a single property. I appreciated his honesty and feedback in regards to the pros/cons of available properties. Working with him honestly felt like talking to a friend! There was one property that I really ended up liking and Chris was able to set up a virtual tour. However, that same apartment ended up getting leased during my tour. I was pretty upset over it, but Chris was able to offer me an even better alternative shortly after (literally the next day or so). I felt so grateful since it felt like a huge burden had been taken off of my shoulders. Let me also point out that I am a pretty picky person. I had high expectations for my new apartment and was so worried I wouldn't find the perfect place. I finally moved in today and I truly love it! I moved to Harvest Lofts at Farmer's Market (an area that I did not even first consider). Chris truly wants to help you find a property that you will not only like but love. If you're looking for a new place, do yourself a favor and contact The Realm Agency!! It is completely free and saves you so much time. I honestly don't even know why people bother to look for apartments on their own if businesses like these exist. Chris- THANK YOU SO MUCH! You are a life-saver and super awesome. Rio and I have finally found our new home and it wouldn't have been possible without your help. She reassured me that she would find something that fit my qualifications. Let's just say, she exceeded them. My new apt is a dream come true!
