Had a Lexus SUV taken in to LJ to repair/replace the driver side door after having it damaged on the lift in a local tire shop right before Thanksgiving 2017. Had never worked with LJ before, and chose to let the vehicle go there at the recommendation of the tire shop manager whom I've known for over ten years. Although the paint repair was done well on the new door, there are several aspects of LJ which prevent me from recommending them to anyone.
The door alignment was not done well, certainly not to Lexus standards, and this created an unacceptable wind noise when driving over 60 mph, When I refused to accept the initial repair until the door was realigned, they copped a little attitude, but agreed to make an adjustment. Th adjustment did come out OK.
Additionally, their pin stripe man was unavailable to replace the painted pin striping (not tape) until February, so I located an alternative resource (another professional pin striper), and they arranged for him to come do the work. The striping does not match the other side of the vehicle and the lines are much more irregular. Although Mr Johnson himself knew that the striping was not done well, he accepted the work with no objections whatsoever and without any notification to me that it did not come out well. He never said anything about it. When he called to tell me it was ready to pick up, I went to inspect the work, and that's when I found to misalignment on the door and the badly done pin striping, and I refused to accept the vehicle until those items were satisfactorily resolved, LJ absolutely refused to do anything to resolve the pin striping issue. I reminded him that I still had the last $800 check from the insurance company, and he flatly told me to "stick that check where the sun don't shine"!
Since the insurance company will not do anything about it, I am stuck having to get the pin striping done completely on my own at my own expense. I accepted that route because I do not trust LJ to acceptably handle intricate details and I also just do not ant a company with a bad attitude working on my vehicle, nor will they ever get a chance to do so again on anything I own.
If you have an inexpensive vehicle to get repaired, or are not trying to get a high end repair which requires extra attention to details, LJ may be acceptable for you, but not for me. read more
