I desperately wanted to try a basque cheesecake for the first time so we came here. It's a small shop so you will have to wait outside but it's worth it! We ordered the classico and omg, I went to heaven with that first bite. The cheesecake is very light and creamy. It is salty which brings the textures and flavors together. I endes up finishing the entire slice quickly amd it was satisfying without

Tourist here, take with a grain of salt, but I was recommended to come here by a friend who lives in Barcelona and loved it. She told me that everyone talks about JonCake and that there's always a line- I can see why. This place sells artisan cheesecakes whole or by the slice. The cheesecakes are cut when you order to eat on the go, and they are so good. Ambiance is that of a tiny bakery where you walk in and order at the counter, there's no room to sit inside and eat. Set some time aside to wait in the line and order a slice.

We got there an hour before closing and waited 30 mins in line. The staff was patient, friendly, and service was quick. We got the small Classic cheesecake and we thought it was okay. It was not worth waiting in line for. I don't see what the hype is about. You can also order the cheesecakes on Doordash as well.

guys, i've been thinking about this cheesecake since i ate it, months ago. it's a dream. it's savory, with a whisper of sweet, burnt sugar. it's light and tastes like cream and is refreshing, while still being smokey, funky, decadent cheesy. it's the perfect cheesecake, and i think joncake has sufficiently ruined me in enjoying any other cheesecake. happily. service was efficient for how many folks were lined up before they opened the door. i love how they slice/price to buy, too. it's a great idea.

Honestly one of the best cheesecake I have ever had. Usually it is made with cream cheese so it is more on the sweet side. These are made with real cheese so it is a little bit salty. The texture is still like the typical cheesecake. Super long line; we had to wait around 1.5 hours to finally get the cheesecake.

As with many spots advertised to tourists, it can be a hit or miss... so trust me when I say JONCAKE was 1000% a HIT!!! This was the best Basque style cheesecake we had during our stay in the beautiful Catalunya region and it's safe to say I've been dreaming about since returning home to the US. Leave all you think you know about cheesecake at the door because this will completely redefine the way you think of the beloved dessert. It's an artisinal style cheesecake so not your traditional cream cheese - it's made with a rich mix of decadent cheeses which contributes to its slightly savory touch. They offer a variety of delicious flavors but we stuck with the classic which I'd highly recommend to everyone. You have the option to purchase a small cake (which we did on our first trip as it was all they had left an hour before closing) but you can also buy per slice which they price by weight (we did this the second time around). Line moves pretty fast so do not be discouraged (though I'd advise to come by around late afternoon a few hours prior to closing). The interior itself is small with no seating, just a place to order for to-go. This is WORTH THE HYPE! I can't wait for my next trip to Barcelona to visit them again :)

This was the best cheesecake i've ever had! The texture of the cake was smooth and creamy. The cheesecake had that slight burned/caramely flavor that made it super tasty. The service was amazing and the staff was really friendly when explaining the different flavors. The store was cute but very small so we had to wait outside for a while. Overall it was definitely worth it and a MUST if you're in the area.

OMG. This was just heaven. If you want that Basque traditional burnt cheesecake, go here. It's one of my favorite desserts of all time, so to eat it in Barcelona was a dream come true and it totally lived up to my expectation. It's a pretty small storefront, only a few people can come another time. It has a few flavor choices. I think there was chocolate and a few others but I got traditional. It is so good but definitely an acquired taste if you don't like really rich, creamy, cheesy flavors that are sweet then this might not be for you BUT IF YOU WANT A DELICIOUS AND UNIQUE DESSERT EXPERIENCE, THEN GET A SLICE FROM HERE. I bought this and ate it while I walked down to the beach and have never felt more idyllic in my life.

I saw a video of this place and decided to go after I tried some tapas from the market. As I turn the corner, I saw a line to the edge of the building and was hesitant on waiting. Thank God I did. The wait was about 30 minutes since they allow 3-4 ppl at a time. Apparently you can order online but I wasn't aware. As I entered, I saw thick cut squares of brownies and since my weakness are brownies I got one as well. I ordered the classic slice of cheesecake and a brownie. To be honest, I didn't have huge expectations from it. It just looked like a baked cheesecake. I found a seat, took the slice out and took a single bite. MADRE. MIA. My taste buds were shocked. I had no idea it was so creamy and flavorful. The crust was a crunchy surprise yet it complimented the creaminess of the cake. The best cheesecake I have ever had! Do yourself a favor and order a whole cake. You are welcome.
We stopped here just to see what the line was all about and it was so worth it! The line was short and the store was super small but the cheesecake was spectacular!! We waited about 10 minutes, they only let 1-2 customers in the store at the time. They explain each type of cheesecake and base it on the type of cheese they use to make it. You can choose about how big a slice you want and then you pay by weight. We took our slices around the corner and ate them so quickly!! You can't go wrong with any flavor you'll absolutely enjoy this savory/sweet treat in Barcelona! read more

Read about this place online and had to see what it was all about. Upon arriving, I saw a huge line forming outside of the store. It was definitely worth the 20 minutes we were waiting for as the stores let in about 2 parties at a time. I got the classic basque and brie cheesecake, the staff lets you choose how large you would like the slices to be. It was a very unique flavor and texture, much different than what I'm used to in the States. The cheese was very soft and had some sweetness but there was some salt to balance it out. Joncake is definitely an artisan shop that has perfected their craft! read more
We tried Joncake while visiting Barcelona. The line was 45 mins long. We waited patiently and the staff will Weigh your slice and sell it to u or you can now a whole cake. We bought a large original cake and ate it at the beach. It was salty and sweet. Very unique. They have a lot of different offerings -Brie, chocolate, blue cheese but I wasn't bold enough to try those. If you want leftovers definitely get the whole cake! read more
Came here several times and everytime got scared away by the line, it suddenly got pouring rain and I finally had my chance. Waited still for half an hour to go into the store, tried several slices and loved the Brie and tiramisu one the most, the sheep cheese one was way toooooooo strong and I totally didn't enjoy it at all. They charge by weight, which is great. Store is cute too but they didn't let us stay and eat even tho it was pouring Please enable pick up by slices option, a whole cake is not feasible for solo travelers who want to try different flavors, this kind of queue is not smart and it's 2024, it's a popular spot but it would be much better if it's a virtual queue so ppl don't have to wait and stand around for hours. read more
I heard about this place and happened to walk by it on a stroll around the area. So glad I waited in line and got the classic basque cheesecake! It was simple and delicious and super friendly and patient service. read more

If you walk up to Joncake and you see a long line outside of the shop, just know that their cheesecakes are worth every minute you have to wait. Honestly, the line went pretty quick, and it only looked long because not everyone could fit in this tiny bakery that packs huge flavors. By far, Joncake's cheesecake was the best dessert I ate in Barcelona. Although I enjoyed all three pieces (yes, I shared them), the chocolate was my least favorite (albeit absolutely rich and chocolatey and I would eat it again). My second favorite was the classic - think of the creamiest cheesecake you've ever eaten - it's tart and sweet at the same time. Their classic was creamier, tarter, and sweeter than anything you've ever tried. Absolutely phenomenal. And my favorite cheesecake of all was the brie. Who ever thought that brie would make such an amazing cheesecake - it has all of the creaminess, tartness, and sweetness of the classic, but with a slight brie flavor that really rounds it out. My one regret... and this may be my biggest regret of 2024... is that I didn't try their special of the day - gouda cheesecake. After trying the brie, I can't begin to imagine how delicious the gouda is. Joncake is a must when you're in Barcelona. I hope that when I return, they will miraculously have gouda cheesecake on their specials! read more
This little cake shop was much busier than I expected it to be. They make cheesecake using different types of cheese with varying intensity levels. We waited in line for maybe 10 or 15 minutes. It is located down a small side street with not much else around but tattoo parlors. At the counter, they were cutting the cake slices to order, weighing and boxing them up. This is a to-go kind of place, so we walked onto a street that had some bench seating to enjoy them. We selected the brie and classic (parmesan). Both were perfectly soft, creamy and heavenly! The brie is the most mild and the classic a little stronger but still pretty mild. The tops had some caramelization. Some of the best cheesecake I have ever had, and so unique to use different kinds of cheese. It is similar to a basque cheesecake texture. Would love to sample the other flavors too. read more

BEST BASQUE BURNT CHEESECAKE I HAD IN MY LIFE! Worth the trip! I tried original and Brie, and wow the Brie cheesecake was so delicious. They sell by pound which is very interesting, I should've gotten smaller slices so I can try their whole menu. But no doubt I'll be back! read more

I was not expecting to find a good cheese cake in Spain. This is one of the kind. If you are in town, you definitely need to go try. You won't regret it. Specially their classic cheesecake. Love it and highly recommended. read more

Currently waiting in line for this. Maybe about 50 people in it. Moves quick enough. I'm sure if you love cheesecakes you won't go wrong here. Like others have said, the original is super creamy and cheesy, a bit of sharpness to it. The chocolate also tasted good but did not have the cheesy undertones of the original. The original is definitely unique or at least I've never tasted anything like it before, while I feel like the chocolate is similar to other chocolate cheesecakes I've had in the past. I am not a big dessert/sweets guy at all so keep that in mind. Just be aware that there is a hard cutoff when they close so if you are in line at closing time you will be SOL. They only allow 3-4 parties inside the small space, no seating so once you get your cake you exit the premises. read more

Without a doubt the best and most extraordinary cheesecake I've ever had. I took a bite and I said out loud "What is happening?" because my brain could not comprehend what I was eating. I was worried that I oversold this to other people but the two people I have sent here had the same experience I did. We went back the next day and the same thing happened but with two different flavors. It is worth going to Barcelona if you are anywhere near it just for this cheesecake. I am not surprised this was the highlight of someone's trip to Barcelona. read more

You have to go here- this was highlight of our trip to Barcelona. We enjoyed the cakes on the lighter side, but tried them all. Joncake ruined me now - I used to like Cheesecake Factory cakes, now having experienced joncake I take a pass.. read more
