My experience with Ellen Dague as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) in JDR was extremely disappointing…read more From the beginning, it was clear that she was biased and judgmental, favoring one side rather than focusing on my children's best interests. She demonstrated a lack of understanding regarding my children's disabilities and seemed unprepared to handle the complexities of my case. Despite my qualifications and background in education, Ellen treated me as if I were incapable of parenting. She appeared to hold my past mental health challenges against me, even though I am fully recovered and doing exceptionally well. On one Zoom call, she insulted my family and predicted I wouldn't secure full-time employment for ten years--yet within two weeks, I obtained a full-time position and have been thriving ever since. I was relieved when my current attorneys successfully had her removed for our circuit court case. Circuit Court has been far more fair and evidence-driven, highlighting just how misaligned Ellen's approach was with the children's best interests. I have also met several other GALs and visitation supervisors who are far more competent and professional. In my opinion, Ellen Dague should seriously reconsider her role as a GAL, and I am exploring ways to ensure that parents facing mental health challenges are not subjected to her judgment in the future.

Ellen Dague is a danger to children who cannot speak/advocate for themselves as well as to Mothers…read moreand Fathers that fight to protect their children from negligent, irresponsible and mentally unstable parents. I can attest to the fact that she blindly picks a parent to advocate for, ignoring the facts of the case. She does not look into the factors that will ultimately determine the fate of a child's life forever. This is not a review based on my case not going in my favor, because in my case, I received the desired/favorable outcome, but not due to the GAL that was assigned to advocate in the best interest of my child. My daughter was 5 months when my custody battle really began and Ellen performed her first home visit with my estranged Husband and myself separately. My Husband who happened to be an Alexandria Police Officer at the time, was caught cheating and kicked ME out of our home. Ellen told me that it was one of my "Achilles heels" that I was "homeless" and used it against me although it was out of my control. She showed up in court (even after we reached a temporary custody agreement) and tried to paint me as some unstable parent. She asked during my home visit if I had a "locker" for my firearm and I replied "no". I did not have a "locker" because I had no home at the time, but my firearm was locked in the case and stored under the seat of my vehicle. In court, she enthusiastically told the Judge that I was riding around with a firearm in my car. Then excused my Husband for having his firearm on his hip at all times because he's a Police Officer (even when he was off duty and home with our child). She performed my home visit with a friend I was staying with temporarily and was intrusive looking at every inch of their home and taking pictures. Then told me that she didn't go upstairs in my Husband's home and allowed him to send her pictures instead. In the end, she waited until the last minute (1 week before court) to complete her final home visits. My attorney informed me she would be reaching out to both my Husband and I that week. Interestingly enough, I never heard from her, but she made time to see my daughter at my Husband's home again. She then allowed our attorneys to sign off on our custody agreement (where I was granted primary physical custody) without even visiting the home where my daughter spends most of her time! HOW is that working in the child's best interest??? I'm the one that had to secure a new residence and you negate to perform a home visit? WOW!!! She can't be very intuitive either because my Husband LIES about everything and the lies are so easy to detect. He had moved his paramour and her 6-year-old son in the home with him. It's a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom. I hired a PI to document this. That means my infant baby was either sleeping in-between my Husband and his paramour or in the same room with a 6-year-old BOY whom is not her brother. Meanwhile, she lectured me on co- sleeping! Other things she did not consider or missed: * I found weed (I think it was estimated as a pound) in my Husband's paramour's bag hidden in a closet in our home that they had been smoking IN the home. I called and reported this and a theft to the police dept that he worked for and in the city we lived in. Because of this (in part) he was placed under investigation and eventually terminated due to this and other disturbing factors that were found during the investigation. * I found that he had been giving weed to minor females * He obviously hid the fact that there were 2 additional occupants in the 2-bedroom home, one who is an avid weed smoker. This after declaring that he and my daughter were the only occupants in the home and that she had her own room/closet with a crib and dresser in his discovery responses (UNDER OATH). * He was caught leaving our daughter with his paramour while he worked although our temporary custody agreement stated that we were not to have friends of the opposite sex present during our time with our daughter. The PI provided evidence of this every single time he had visitation with our baby. Also violating Right of First Refusal. * He returned our daughter to me in a short-sleeved onesie in 55-degree weather because he didn't want to send "his" clothes to my house. Thankfully, I'm a REAL parent and always keep extra clothing with me in the car. * She was suffering from RSV and a double ear infection while with him and he did not take her to the doctor. He self-diagnosed her with a "cold" and didn't even bother taking her temp but lied and said he did. I believe Ellen showed favoritism because of his position as an officer and ignored the signs of his reckless, irresponsible and negligent behavior. I PRAY no other child falls into her hands as the fate of their life/wellbeing is being decided upon. I PRAY no other Mother or Father who is truly fighting in the best interest of their child experiences this biased interference by Ellen.

When I was sent to a General Court Martial Sam's firm argued to have a key piece of evidence suppressed on the grounds that the government had conducted an illegal search and seizure. Law enforcement has a very low bar to pass for probable cause, yet the military judge was swayed by the well thought out written brief and oral arguments made during the hearing. The Command wanted to proceed with a court martial anyways and Sam successfully negotiated non judicial punishment and a retirement. This led to an honorable discharge that I am convinced was assisted by Sam's expert editing of the letters and documents I had to submit. That complete, the government requested a civilian agency prosecute my case. They agreed and after a protracted negotiation, Sam convinced them to drop all charges. Sam is an amazing! He takes the time to answer questions and explain complicated legal issues in an easy to follow manner. He always follows through and never leaves you hanging. The office was easy to get to - located right in downtown Alexandria. They all made the whole experience of getting our will done easy and pleasant.
