He went over my x-rays and MRI with me and gave me an unhurried and thorough exam. He dictated notes into a Alexa-like device and then answered my 58 questions in great detail often referring back to the x-ray or MRI. I was there for a second opinion and didn't feel he was looking for "more work" from me nor did I feel he was agreeing with the first opinion out of rote. He was the pinnacle of professionalism and obviously extremely skilled. If you read his bio for his education and training, it's impressive and tailor made for my specific injury. All in all, this was the most positive experience I've had with a physician in decades. I reserve the right to come back and edit this review if I get charged for anything that I'm not expecting but short of that, I can't recommend Dr. Stuffmann highly enough. If there was an option for more than 5 stars, I'd easily do that.

Like any Doctor who is considered to be at the top of their field, you are going to wait a while. Otherwise, I found the pre surgery process to be reasonably organized and far from onerous. Next morning, after taking more views specific to my injury so we could see how the fracture fragments had migrated into the joint space, I was eager to have him fix the damage not mentioned (or perhaps not seen) by the first flippant corporate MD. He even showed me a model of the plate that would hold everything back in place! Because of the time that had already passed since the accident, he and his staff created space for me to get into surgery that very same afternoon. I had an injury to my right foot/ankle (tendon rupture partially) that I had been dealing with since last September & I was trying to avoid surgery but it wasn't healing so Dr. Talarico surgically repaired it in April, and he did an excellent job. A foot surgery is a very tough recovery but with Dr. Talarico's help & guidance I'm walking pain free again. Dr. Talarico & his staff took excellent care of me. His staff is also excellent & so caring kind & helpful. Veronica his office assistant is awesome & Yolanda his surgical scheduler was very helpful when I had to change my surgery date. I met with Dr. Honsik due to having chronic shoulder problems. I didn't know what to expect because…read morethis was the first time I met with a sports medicine physician. However, his assistants were friendly and warm and he was as well. I think he spent a thorough job evaluating my shoulder concerns and assessing the issues I brought forth to him. It was also interesting to have a diagnostic ultrasound on my shoulder to see what was really going on in there. I felt relieved to finally have some answers to what was happening with my wonky shoulders and he did a great job of answering all of my questions and concerns. I'm not sure if he does that with every visit, but for my visit it felt relevant. I also really like how he had an assistant documenting everything in the session - I felt like this made him more present and attentive. I've been to other medical appointments where the NP or MD has to document while assessing you and I feel like they end up only being partly attuned to what is going on with you. So this was a nice touch. I honestly don't want to be back (because that would mean that I would have another injury lol) but if that were to happen again, I most definitely would return to see Dr. Honsik. FYI, he also is a swimmer and he gave me some good tips on technique so that I don't exacerbate my shoulder issue. Overall, I am SO satisfied with this visit!

This is a lousy way to treat potential patients, but more important, it's a lousy way to treat people who are in pain. Make the appt or don't, but don't back out at the last minute.

The surgery center was efficient in scheduling and the results from the surgery today are excellent. He even provided me with 4 short videos of my surgery during the procedure where he commented on his findings. Earlier this year when I started having similar problems in my left shoulder I revisited him after an MRI and sure enough I had a similar tear; must have been those years of racing sailboats on the San Francisco Bay and some bad genetics. Anyway 6 weeks ago I had a similar surgery on my left rotator cuff, and all is going well with the recovery. Now it's up to me to do the PT required to get the arm fully functional again. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Eppley, an excellent surgeon who is also extremely personable, shares photos of his lovely dog and his recent vacations. While it's true that now he's under Sutter Health he's more difficult to get ahold of, he's worth the frustration and once you visit his office you can email them much more easily.

I again have painless movement to enjoy gardening, walking, and my normal every day activities.
