Came to Dr. Smith for a lower back/knee injury after a car crash, and although I've only had 3 adjustments so far. After todays adjustment I was left in shock, I had complained about left back pain and Dr. Smith quickly pin pointed my pain and adjusted accordingly and in less than 10 seconds any pain I had in my back was gone. Solid chiropractic option in Marin. He does a thorough old school hands analysis. He focuses on posture and good movement in addition to pain areas. And he has a real focus on getting better. Which I like. If you enjoy watching chiro videos on YouTube like I do, you know there are myriad adjustments that could be made. Dr Smith does many of those in a gentle manner and only of required. For example, the SI joint adjustment is done with offsetting angles not the more aggressive side leg hip twisty thing. He has a solid knowledge of body mechanics so he can follow up treatment with stretching and exercising suggestions. He also has nutritional advice for better health. My first visit/experience was very different from other chiropractors I'd had in the past. He did not twist or crack (adjust) my spine, neck, etc. on the first visit. Just a lot of pressure points. I scheduled with Dr. Smith on the advice of several people who independently referred me to Balance Chiropractic. I was having pain in my jaw and up the left side of my head that was related to some oral surgery and a tooth extraction that had been completed months before. I was diagnosed with TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder), and the solutions that were being offered to me were things like NSAID's, Tricyclic antidepressants, arthroscopy and full on open joint surgery. Dr. Smith is officially my hero! I first came across his practice on Groupon. I was in pretty rough shape, had one of those pinched nerve situations where you can barely get in a full breath. He fit me in last minute and he was incredibly thorough. After a couple treatments I was tip top again and ready to crash my dirt bike a few more times LOL. He had originally given me a suggested treatment plan which I was reluctant to fully follow because although I understand the importance of frequent visits to align years of spinal destruction it's hard to commit to that amount of time and money. I had decided I would just go to see him in times of desperation for financial reasons. Yesterday I woke up at 4am in the most excruciating pain of my life. I have quite the threshold for pain but this was next level torture. I was waking my Husband up telling him I wanted to go to the hospital. I should add I compressed a disk a couple years back in a mx crash so I was thinking something with that had gone VERY wrong. Luckily my Husband talked me into waiting it out and trying to get into Dr.Smith for an emergency appointment. When I walked into his office I could barely walk, could not comfortably sit, and god forbid even considering bending in any direction. He took his time, pin pointed exactly what the problem was and to my amazement by the time I got into bed last night I was a million times better.
