The Jon Storm Park a great little piece of history, tucked into the east side of the Willamette River and accessible from both I-205 and 99E on the north end of Oregon City, at the end of the Oregon Trail. The view of the river up to the locks and down to Goat Island are exquisite. The benches set near the cantilever viewpoint are perfect for taking a quick break on the walking tour of Oregon City. To enjoy the river up close and feel the cooling sensation of the water, a short walk down to the Jon Storm Transient Dock is perfect. Most people are unaware that this park is located directly east of the initial home and shop belonging to Bud Bullock, the original owner of Bud's Towing, now located on the south end of Oregon City on 99E overlooking the Falls. Jon Storm worked for Bud's Towing for over 10 years and was killed at Clackamette Park in 1994 while working on a community service project to remove some rotten, dying cottonwood trees near the boat landing. Jon was in the bucket of the crane, owned by Bud's Towing, to assist in getting the trees safely to the ground when the top of one tree fell onto the crane killing Jon instantly. This park is in memory of Jon's service to the Oregon City Community and a tribute to an upstanding citizen who loved his work, family and life in Clackamas County. read more
