Had to have a molar on the bottom right side taken out. It had a crown with a post but the tooth had started to decay and had an infection at the root. He put me on antibiotics for a week and then I went in for the removal. The tooth had to be taken out in pieces due to the decay, plus I'm a bit old so the roots are now connected to the bone ( no ligament left in there any longer). Despite all the complications involved he still managed to get the job done with minimal discomfort to me. His assistant provided my wife and I with a thorough briefing on post operative care. I have GEHA insurance and he's not a listed provider but he's the only one I would use! He is a listed provider for Delta Dental. read more

Recently my husband had a dental emergency that required emergency treatment. We did not have a dentist yet, were in search of one and found one close to us that was able to see my husband right away (Pristine Dentistry, Dr. Ashley & Benjamin Koppel DDS). They referred my husband to oral surgeon Dr. Shafqat DDS. Dr. Shafqat's office was able to get my husband in right away. Dr. Shafqat was extremely thorough in his findings and recommended treatment my husband needed. I was able to sit in with my husband while he explained everything and plan for treatment. There was pretty significant infection in my husbands left side of face that required Dr. Shafqat to put in a drain to allow for the infection to drain out and antibiotics to get him out of the emergent situation first before he could move forward with the additional treatment needed. The procedure was very quick and we were on our way in no time. Dr. Shafqat called to check on my husband that evening on his way home from the office after his long day of seeing patients. He wanted to ensure my husband was doing well. We were very impressed by this act of kindness from the doctor. Once infection was treated, my husband went in for first part of his treatment. As with the first time we came to his office, was a wonderful experience, from the time we were greeted by the front desk to his post op recovery support staff. Dr. Shafqat again called my husband the next morning to make sure things were progressing along and he was doing well and to answer any questions he might have. We were both amazed at the level of care my husband received. He didn't have one of his staff call to check on my husband, he took the time to call and check on him personally. Not only did we find an amazing dental office but now oral surgeon. My husband and I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Shafqat DDS for your oral surgery needs. Unfortunately, I needed a tooth extracted, however Dr. Shafqat and his entire staff are the best. Super professional, very kind and empathetic to my needs. I found Dr. Jon Shafqat D.D.S, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, via a recommendation from Dr. Craig J. Malin D.M.D Endodontist. And Dr. Craig Malin by way of Dr. Geoff Bell D.D.S. My "team" of Dentists are phenomenal!!! And I'm extremely lucky to have found them. Each one of these Dentists are highly skilled in their specialties. This particular review concerns the oral surgery I had with Dr. Jon Shafqat. In a word, my experience was amazing. Dr. Shafqat is a Master of his trade. (yeah that's with a capital M) From prep throughout the surgery, its evident that you're dealing with professionals. I had tooth #3 extracted as it was sure to collapse before too long, even if a crown had been installed. The day of the surgery, I entered the office and found it to be thankfully COVID compliant. The staff wore masks, as I did, and they were friendly, attentive and professional. Jessica and Jada checked me in and processed the forms they had sent me via email days before. That saved a lot of time, as I was able to print them out at home and then fill them out before I came in. I like the way they work with the patient; its very organized and well thought out. Following a thorough consultation with Dr. Shafqat about a week before, I followed instructions to pre-medicate prior to my procedure. Martha and Noemmy prepped me on the day of surgery. They were very professional yet easy going, which made me feel right at home. We even had a few laughs! Once all the prep was complete, Dr. Shafqat came in and he explained, step by step how we would proceed. I've got to say his manner was so even keeled, that any anxiety I might have had went right out of the window. After getting "numbed" for the procedure, Dr. Shafqat commenced to remove tooth. And what a surprise when they were finished! I thought it would take much longer. But the process was completed in a steady, studied, and really very accomplished way. They have this kind of thing down to an art! I was very pleasantly surprised that all this was accomplished without pain. That was a big relief. And that evening, Dr. Shafqat actually called me to check in. That in my experience is rare and much appreciated!!! Further, on day 2 and day 3 (the supposedly worst day for pain and swelling) I had NO PAIN. That took me completely by surprise. Dr. Shafqat's skill and expertise delivered in a big way. Then they smear your character for overlooking a$75 balance from a $3,000 plus bill which is owed only because benefits were not verified correctly in the first place. I had a cracked tooth that was giving me a little pain and I was able to leave the Country on my honeymoon and was really nervous about leaving with my tooth in the condition it was in. I went to a consultation with my mother at Dr. Shafqat's office regarding wisdom teeth. He is very thorough, and easy going and cautious which I like very much! I came in today for my four wisdom teeth to come out, and although of course I was nervous they are very helpful and there for you. They tell you everything that they are doing so you feel in the loop as you have many people around you. They also are experienced! What a great office and team!! I got my wisdom teeth extracted and this office was so helpful, kind and willing to explain every process of the way to me. The day of treatment, Dr. Shafqat sat down with my husband and I and explained exactly what would be happening as well as answered any questions we had. After talking to Dr. Shafqat, the anesthesiologist came in and took just as much time with us to answer any questions. After my extraction I came in for a re-eval where I was shown how to clean the extraction sight. A week later I noticed a bit of pain on my right side and the front office staff got me an appointment right away that day. It turned out nothing was wrong and everything was healing well. The BEST oral surgeon I have ever experienced (I've been to 3 others). His expertise resulted in the fastest and least painful extraction I've ever had, with the easiest recovery. I came to him with a massive infection in my root and jaw that was so painful I could not talk. After a few days on antibiotics he removed the tooth in less time than it took for some Dentist to get me in the chair and numb.
