Don't go there for haircuts on your furbabies. They make a mess and rip you off by charging whatever they want. My daughter took her yourkie there once, and they charged her almost 100 dollars for a basic trim. He only weighs 14 lbs, and anywhere else was only between 50- 65 max. They told her the price was high because her dog was a long-haired dog in which was not the case. He's a short hair yorkie with some curl to his hair. It's not a silky breed, yorkie, but they told her no, it didn't matter. The groomer gets to decide, and that's what they allowed. I heard nothing positive about this place, and I would never take my pet to a place that has such bad reviews. read more

I have friends and family that have had to pull thier dogs out of there because of the amount of neglect happening with their fur babies. There are a number of safety issue and safety issues not being reported, small pet area not being monitored or monitored for very short periods of time. Fights happening between dogs and then not advising the owners what happened. Highly do not recommend. read more

First two cuts of my dog's fur were great - the last one. They buzz cut her - in winter - she had irritated butt and flinched when she peed. Never taking her back to them again. Brought my dog for a groom and when I picked him up he was traumatized. He's seen other groomers and he never had an issue. I think the woman was rough with him and muzzled him which he's never had done before. He's a small dog and She didn't even ask me if that's okay and that definitely scared him. Also the clippers must have been very hot because she burned his little genital area and he couldn't sit normally and was in a lot of discomfort. read more

Not sure if this is okay to post here, but I want people to know my experience and how they treated me working there. The shifts are 10 hour days, with only one 30 minute break. Way too overworked. While working there I got a concussion. I went on a doctor-mandated leave for a week so I could rest my head, and paperwork on the doctor's end was sent to Worker's Compensation. Not only was my Worker's Compensation case nullified because "they don't do worker's comp", they actually ended up firing me for missing too much work. The only work I missed was Doctor & Health official mandated. They did not care about me getting better, they only care about how their operation runs. read more

This review is in regards to the Jollytails location in Bayers Lake. I do not recommend this establishment to anyone and would give it 0 stars as a rating if I could. They were very unprofessional, inexperienced and very rude during my visit. I originally booked an appointment with Jollytails in Bayers Lake approximately 2 weeks ago to get my Yorkie's hair cut. When I spoke to the person on the phone ( she spoke to groomer to see if she was able to do a yorkie cut) I was informed that the groomer was able to do the hair cut, so I then booked an appointment for June 01/23. I went to the appointment yesterday and was very disappointed, frustrated and upset the way I was treated. First of all they were very unprofessional and didn't ask me any information regarding my dog, didn't check him over for any issues, didn't ask for up to date vaccines since it was my first time there, did they ask me to sign any paperwork, nor was I asked if he had any allergies. The groomer came out in a pair of very short ripped shorts and a T shirt. Very unprofessional looking. She asked what kind of cut I wanted and I asked if she had experience doing Yorkie cuts. She said yes and I asked if she had any pictures of Yorkie cuts she did. The groomer said no. I then asked if she had any of the samples of hair showing the length of hair ( that are usually at the groomers) so I could show her what length I wanted, but she said no. So I then proceded to explain to her how I wanted it cut. My phone then rang and I excused myself as I had to take the call ( update on evacuation update from my huaband) and when I turned around after being on the phone for a minute, the groomer was gone. I then asked where she went and was told she would be back in a minute. I then waited 10 or 15 minutes for her to come back but she didn't return. I then asked one of the staff behind the counter when the groomer was coming back. The girl then told me that the groomer was not coming back out and that they could not accomadate me to cut my dog's hair. She was very rude and abrupt and told me the groomer did not know how to cut my dog's hair. I explained to her that the groomer already said that she could do a Yorkie cut. I tried to explain to her that I was very upset with the service as I was already told on the phone when I called that the groomer knew how to cut my dog's hair. She became angry and upset and didn't want to listen to what I had to say, cut me off when I was talking ,then told me to leave the store. I asked to speak to the manager and she said there wasn't one available, then told me to leave immediately and not to come back. I told her I would leave when I was ready to and tried to finish what I was saying. I was totally Shocked and Appalled by their behavior and the way I was being treated!! Very rude staff!! Very unprofessional!! Wouldn't recommend them to anyone!! I did call the manager the next day to complain about the terrible experience I had, requesting for him to call me so I could explain what happened. He did not call me but instead sent a email. I was hoping for an appology but instead he said that he talked to his staff and they couldn't help me. He said to never come back to the facility, call or email back. He said " I Was Not Welcome Back There". He didn't even have the decency to call me to hear my side of the story. What a horrible place to deal with!! EXTREMELY RUDE and UNPROFFESIONAL !! I'll never return to that place ever again, but not because they told me . I would never have gone back there anyway after being treated so bad. Take my advice and "Don't Go There" . Face it, our dogs are our babies, and we wouldn't leave our kids in a daycare where they were at best, ignored, or at worst, disciplined with a hose and shouted at. And I've seen both at doggie daycares. Not Jollytails! Owned by professional trainer Tristan Flynn, the pack that spends its time there is like a big happy family. My dog positively leaps out of the car and to the door, has made real dog (and people) friends and improved her social skills as an added bonus. Every dog is treated like the individual that they are, and helped to fit in, especially at first when they are nervous and not sure, as my dog was. It didn't take two visits for her to feel at home. They are so in tuned that they could tell one day that she wasn't herself, and brought her into a quiet room for a needed nap. She receives a report card each time she visits. I drive from Dartmouth to their location in Halifax to drop my dog off, and back to Dartmouth again to go to work, and reverse after work. It's worth it! read more

Astonished! We're all busy but this place had the nerve to cancel my dog's grooming appointment for being 9 minutes late.... Wow, never again will we go back here. And the scowling expression stating their policy of "cancellation if 15 mins late"... and I showed her my watch which showed 12:39 for a 12:30 appt. great customer service....!! Can you imagine your dentist turning you away for being 9 mins late. Anyway, it worked out as we got our mini golden doodle the best grooming cut ever at Pet Smart. We've been taking our dog, Adobe to obedience classes at Jollytails and we've been quite happy thus far. Our 1yr old Doberman/Lab, Adobe has been catching on pretty quickly, and we have been learning how to properly work with him for best behaviour. The facility has an indoor and outdoor area as they also run a daycare. I work across the street and can rarely hear dogs barking. The staff are all very nice and you can tell they are honestly caring about animals and against cruelty or use of punishment to train. They seem to understand dog behaviour and how to encourage the best atmosphere for all the dogs. We plan to take Adobe to their daycare services over the winter months. read more

I think Jollytails is a great place - I've never taken my dogs there for "daycare" but I have been there for events. They're great people with a great business - they do events, support local pet charities, have doggie daycare and they do training. But that's not all, I have a few more things I want to tell you about Jollytails... First the events - I helped organize one of these events, Pugapalooza, and I have to say that Tristan and the rest of the staff are fantastic! We had a meeting prior to the event, and they were very accommodating and helpful. They made some great suggestions on how to use the space and made us feel SO welcome. I love that they supported our event, and so many other pet orientated events in our community. Now, the space - IT'S FREAKING HUGE!!!! There is a great indoor space and a HUGE outdoor space. All the spaces are lined with washable mats and turf and, as Tristan explained, they are washed and disinfected every.day. They have it blocked off so smaller dogs, if their owners want, can have the run of part of the space and larger, generally a little more rambunctious, dogs can have the other part. There is always lots of water handy for the pooches and the staff dogs (bring your dog to work?! My dream!!) are great with big and little dogs. Staff - SO friendly and knowledgeable. They really truly do just love dogs. They have some great advice and tips and they just generally ROCK at their job. Social media - Say whaaaaat?! That's right folks, they have an amazing Facebook page! They post daily updates and photos of the dogs playing, napping, frolicking and then some. There's always something going on and, as someone who works in social media, I love how interactive they are! As a pug parent, I also love seeing photos of my dogs in action. There are some great shots up from our Pugapalooza event. Overall, I LOVE Jollytails. And I haven't even used their daycare yet! read more

I run a cat rescue and this past week I was trapping baby kittens in an apartment parking lot behind Jolly Tails. I can't see the employees or dogs while sitting in my truck monitoring my traps, but am disturbed at what I heard. No, it wasn't the dogs barking, that's what dogs do...it was the employees yelling at the dogs! "Shut the f*ck up" and "Get the f*ck inside". This was not a one time thing, I heard the same thing on 2 different days. Jolly Tails is definitely not somewhere I would take my dog to be "cared" for. read more

My English bulldog George attended Jollytails for over two years. When he first started the place was half empty some days, but the staff seemed to look after the dogs very well. They post lots of pictures on their Facebook and the dogs receive a "report card" to say what they got up. A nice big area, there's always water available, and if you forget to bring dogfood they can usually find you something. I mostly dealt with Lyndsey (I think) in the morning and Jo in the evening, both always seems very friendly and accommodating. Tristan was never rude or impolite. George attended pretty much every Friday for two and a half years without fail while the business was growing, now however the business is successful some days are full and can't accept more dogs. With this in mind I asked for a 6month block booking and that was confirmed no problem. The next day I receved an email from Tristan saying that he and his staff have discussed it and that George- "is not aggressive, but required management to ensure he does not constantly bother dogs that do not want to engage with him. With our larger numbers we feel the time spent doing this is simply too much for us to allow him to continue attending." I spoke with staff every time I picked George up, and every report card I receved said nothing but good things. There were no warnings, suggestions, conversations, literally no build up what so ever. It seems that the only thing that changed was the companies ability to cherry pick the clients that spend the most money in store on merchandise, classes, and grooming. I suspect that if my dog attended 3-5 days a week then his behaviour would have been fine. Obviously a business is there to make money, but after supporting a small entrerprise like Jollytails was for two and a half years, to have my pup kicked out in the name of greed is pretty upsetting. Jollytails will look after your dog very well, George was always super exited when we got to the door, and was always in good shape when he left. Just don't expect any loyalty however if your not spending money in store or attending 3,4 times a week. No matter how long you've been a regular client, if your not spending money they have no problem dropping you for somebody who will. read more

Jollytails has a large selection of pet products however they do not stand by when their products prove to be poorly made. I bought a freedom harness there less than 2 weeks ago. I was told by my trainer it was a superior product. I was impressed by the company's policy, if your dog chews though, they will repair no time limit! The fine print includes that you must pay to send it back to them in US and pay $7-8 USD. Jollytails said to circumvent that they offer 1/2 price off second if they chew through it at any point in time as well!! Sounds fantastic right? My dog had access to his harness for less than 10 minutes in the car yesterday and chewed straight through it!! Their comment was that the fit wasn't ideal- they fit him!! And, when upright it fits fine, when lying/sitting chest bubbles out. Dogs, like us, are not all one size. When I look at the "ultra comfy fit" I can see the loose weave and flimsy construction. So $75 in less than 2 weeks...not such a great deal anymore. Yes my puppy has chewed other leashes before (no I don't just let him have free access) and he is a contortionist, but he has never even come close to chewing through anything before, especially in 10 minutes! I am very disappointed in both the freedom harness and Jollytails for its rigid and profit driven policies. You customer service is greatly lacking. I recently began taking my dog Dana (boxer pup) to Jollytails when I have busy days, or when I am away for work. She absolutely loves it there! Theres tons of space indoors & outdoors for the dogs, and they can freely roam between the two. On nice days they have kiddie pools for the dogs, so there is no worry of them getting too hot. They will even email you a report card, explaining who your pup played with, how they were behaved, ect. And they post lots of pictures throughout the day on their Facebook account, which is great when I am at work and want to see what Dana is up to. Jollytails also has a ton of healthy treats & dog food, and a huge variety of dog toys, leashes, collars (very nice), ect. Which is great, if you're too busy to get to the pet store. Every staff member I have delt with has been excellent as well, they are all very friendly. Highly recommend Jollytails if you need a dog daycare, or even if you just need some supplies for your pup - always nice to buy local! read more

Took my Yorkie to Jollytails the beginning of Nov for a grooming Lady Hammond Road. Went to pick her up, paid the 67.00 and when they brought her to me she was a mess, long ears cut off tails plume gone almost shaved. I asked to speak with the groomer Cindy and was told she was busy. And only followed the notes. I emailed the owners 3 times and they never responded. I emailed again today 4 weeks later and they responded with the message. You are not a customer of ours anymore and we feel the grooming was fine. So good luck with your new groomer. Tristin This company has no integrity they could have contacted me a month ago and talked about the issue. But Tristin feels best to just say nothing and dismiss the issue. Be very carful of the grooming services they offer. And yes I will find a groomer that can groom a yorkie as soon as her fur grows back. Cindy at Lady Hammond Road is not a good groomer. I have an eight year old son, his name is Odie and he is also my best friend. Like any good mother I only want the best for him and I worry about his wellbeing. He hates the groomers. There's nothing I can do about it. I don't know why and I have to remind myself it's only a haircut, I'm not having him murdered... but to him it's the same thing, and he makes me feel so guilty with the puppy dog eyes! This month he was in serious need of a haircut. You can tell when it's haircutting time because his self-confidence starts to take a nose dive. I know that sounds strange but I swear, he just doesn't have that pep in his step when he's shaggy. I think he looks cute with long hair, he just acts depressed. Anyways, it was time for a cut. My regular place is going through renos and wasn't open. I saw in the Coast that Jollytails won gold for grooming, plus all the 5 star Yelp reviews.. it was basically a done deal. He was scared like usual, but they had him groomed within no time! I gave little direction about what I wanted done, I'm not hard to please.. cut his hair. That's it. I've tried to do it once, he was a monster so I'm happy with anything and I'll pay you whatever you want. He looks amazing! I can't put my finger on it, but the cut is so cute and just perfect. I can't stop telling him how handsome he looks! His ego is through the roof. To finish off the look they tied a paw print bandana around his little neck. This is my new go-to dog groomer. read more

Common consensus between my household's experience and those of my friends, neighbours, and co-workers is that Tristan might be experienced with dogs, but is too unpleasant to deal with to make it worth your while. I attended a few reactive dog classes. On way to one class, my dog ran away from me, pulling me forward onto my pregnant belly and breaking my fingers. I arrived at Jollytails 10 mins late, tearful, injured, and terrified of losing my baby. At one point, I patted my dog's bum to get her to sit. Tristan screamed at me: "Don't you ever put your hands on your dog again. How about I put my hands on you and force you to sit." I left class sobbing. When told that he was out of line, he blamed me and cited his "stress" rather than take responsibility for his unprofessional behaviour. Bosco, my shepherd boy, was adopted at 9 months old. We were having a hard time with Bosco learning basic training exercises and signed up for training class with Tristan-this was THE best decision for Bosco and us. In the first 5 minutes of meeting Tristan he was able to identify that Bosco was reactive and quickly gave us pointers and directives how to calm him and participate in class. We started training in class behind a little wall to help Bosco remain calm. Throughout our training Tristan took extra care and time with us to help understand Bosco, his reaction, and educate us in helping Bosco move forward. The support we received was phenomenal. By the end of training Bosco didn't need to be behind a wall in class and could calmly watch other dogs. We still have a long ways to go in supporting Bosco, but we couldn't have made it to this point or move forward without Tristan's support, education encouragement and recommendations. Thank you!!  I can't thank the team enough at intercolonial daycare for being so amazing. They welcomed me through a tour and were genuinely excited to meet and see Bosco. They are very friendly, provided updates, gave great service and I feel comfortable that they understand and support his reactiveness. I have only ever heard great things about Jollytails. However, my experience was not that way at all. I filled out the application to have my Doberman join for doggy daycare, he has just recently been given to us from family members who could no longer take care of him who didn't live near any dog parks. He has had extensive training, for weeks at a time and it very obedient. My application got rejected because he had not been to enough dog parks and they "don't recommend" his trainer. They refused to accept him for assessment. I'm sure they are a great organization if you start from their puppy training classes but I am very disappointed in their lack of effort to meet my dog and see how amazing and well behaved he really is. This review is based on the pet store only. I want to make it clear that I haven't enrolled my dog in any classes or daycare before. The pet store carries some really great products, the best food treats and toys really. So much so that I sole source all my dogs products at jollytails. However, I have to say that their customer service may well be the worst I have ever encountered. I have been shopping there for about a year, and I visit the store several times a month... Not once has anyone ever offered to help me locate anything, or offered any kind of advice when it comes to purchasing their products. In fact, there is little or no interaction even when I am being rung in at the cash. Apparently they have a loyalty program, I heard this from another dog owner, and this program has never been presented to me at the store. You would think that if someone was consistently returning to your store and purchasing several different types of products, you would show them the time of day.
