It was a very cute place, like an old shop with a beautiful wooden counter and old cash register and about 4 tables for 4. The two pizza chefs were very quiet and serious making the pizzas in the oven. There was no music in the place, so just the sound of people talking and eating and no sound from the kitchen except expert chopping of pizza toppings. I appreciated their laser focus on the art of pizza making and the deliciousness of the bread/crust here is a testament to that.
Some patrons entered and went downstairs (full on our level), and the server would take pizzas down there from time to time, but I didn't venture down there, so unsure what it looked like or how large it was.
On to the pizzas - there were a lot of choices. We chose two pizzas, the 4 stagioni and the "Sara". The 4 stagioni was like getting 4 different pizzas in one. Each quarter was a different topping: prosciutto, mushroom, artichoke, and olives. The Sara pizza was one of their specialties. It seemed odd at first because it didn't have sauce. Instead, it was covered with fresh ingredients, uncooked. Fresh tomato, cold bufala, prosciutto, and arugula. The ingredients were so flavorful and the bread so beautiful and warm and just-made, we loved this. Both pizzas were great, but it's worth trying one of these "au natural" pizzas.
We had a tasty red house wine as well. This was a delicious and affordable meal in a lovely setting with great service. We felt lucky that we nabbed a table. 2 outstanding pizzas and wine for 30 EUR.
