As a frequent visitor to the county jails, I will say the Will County facility definitely falls in…read moreto the average category. I work in the court system and visit incarcerated clients weekly. Will County Staff is friendly and accommodating to most schedules. Due to budget cuts evening visitation is no longer available so visitors must plan visits between the standard 9-4:30pm workday (with an hour break for lunch). I appreciate the private parking lot that is connected to the visitation center. There are only a few parking spaces at the jail but public parking is less than a block away. It is also convenient that families are able to add money to inmate accounts at both the jail and video visitation center. Bottom line Will County is a reasonably safe and efficient facility to address the safety needs in the community.

You simply walk on in after paying to park because the officers get the free parking. The officers here treated me like a dumb criminal. I'm just a simple man that wanted to visit family. The video calls had bad sound and video quality. I didn't even get a full 30 minutes. Just 22! Make sure your family/friends don't get locked up here because I wouldn't want to come back here.

The staff are exceptional, friendly and go above and beyond to help you with anything -- if they don't have it, they do everything they can to get it for you! They offer tons of special get-together from book clubs to tot-reading meeting groups. They have this thick reference binder with lists of "Like" authors that I've never seen before -- for example, if you love to read books by John Grisham -- you like his style, but you've already read everything he wrote, the reference binder they have up at the front desk (You'll have to ask) has a list of authors that write similarly (either topic or style) to John Grisham (or any other MANY MANY MANY authors). If you are like me and often wish for a place to just "get away" from your home, kids, or husband (but can't afford to run off and hide in Jamaica), then come hide out here! Since it's a library which requires the ambiance must be quiet and peaceful, you have the perfect excuse as to why you didn't answer your cell phone ;-)
