A name like Christian Brothers suggests to customers that they have found an honest repair shop…read more Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I have an Endurance extended warranty, and at other repair facilities I have paid the $100 deductible and left with a properly functioning vehicle. In this case, I brought my car in for a window regulator (the part that raises and lowers the window; approximately $59 shop cost) and a radio that was not working (approximately $225 shop cost for a replacement). I later received a call stating that the vehicle was ready, but I was quoted $1,400. When I contacted Endurance, I was told they had authorized $99 for the regulator and $226 for the radio, plus labor based on the national repair manual (the standard time a qualified mechanic should need to replace and test the items). However, Christian Brothers charged me $256 for the regulator alone, despite the part reportedly costing the shop about $59 (or less). Additionally, I did not receive what I believe I was charged for regarding the radio. Endurance authorized $667.98 for the repairs, which I consider a fair and honest price for the work. The shop also charged me two separate full diagnostic fees--one for the regulator and another for the radio--despite both issues being readily apparent. I do not believe a complete diagnostic was performed in either instance. I was not given a choice or an opportunity to authorize the work and pricing in advance. I informed them I would not pay the $1,400 bill and that I would pick up the vehicle to take it to an honest shop. Ultimately, I was required to pay $420 for two diagnostic charges to retrieve my car. I am a 100% disabled veteran with a service connection, and I do not drive often. My options were $420 or $1,400. When my wife went to pick up the vehicle, she waited approximately one hour while the shop removed the newly installed parts and reinstalled the damaged parts. This suggests the actual repair time was less than an hour. I am 70 years old, and shops that operate this way are often described as dishonest. I encourage others--especially veterans--to avoid this business. I am connected with many veteran groups, and I will be warning fellow veterans not to use Christian Brothers Automotive.

I wasn't going to leave a review because frankly I couldn't be bothered to waste any more time…read morethinking about this place but my most recent car issue that was a direct result of their incompetence has prompted me otherwise. Here are 5 reasons why I will never bring my vehicles here and why you shouldn't either, or at the very least you should question everything. Which is unfortunate because you should be able to trust that you are getting good work done (which does not happen here, please read all the bad reviews and listen to them) 1. we brought our mini van here for alternator issues and because we have insurance this was one of the approved places. When given a quote for the repairs we questioned why the bill was so high when we had insurance to cover the issues. We were told it's because the insurance was only covering a portion of the cost and we had to foot the rest. Well we called the insurance ourselves and told them what was going on and they said that we should not have to pay that much and that they approved everything. We then went over the estimate with the insurance company and found out that Christian Brothers had given the insurance a much lower estimate than they gave us and were trying to charge us for that difference. When we confronted Christian Brothers about the discrepancy in prices they told us that it was a mistake on their end and the lady who had done the estimate had not dealt with insurances before. Basically their mistake would have cost us an extra thousand dollars had we not questioned them and talked to the insurance ourselves 2. When going over the final price for the repairs they assured us that the price included everything and would not change anymore. When we went to pick up the car they tried to say that the price was an additional hundred dollars more because of diagnostic fees. Well we argued that with them and they eventually dropped the price back down to what was originally quoted. 3. They approved repairs without calling and discussing it with us even though I explicitly asked to be informed of any repairs before they completed them. 4. They completed repairs August 18th and today (September 8th) I took my car to Jiffy Lube on Saratoga and Weber (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE) for an oil change, while there they informed me that my coolant was low and topped it off. I left there and drove to HEB where I noticed that my car was leaking orange fluid. Immediately called Jiffy Lube and they came out to HEB and inspected my car for me and informed me that the hose for the coolant was not properly attached and had come off resulting in the coolant spilling out. They then reattached the hose correctly and refilled my coolant in the HEB parking lot for free. They reviewed the footage in their garage showing they had not touched the hose and were not responsible for the leak. With that information I went back to Christian Brothers to bring the issue to their attention and the manager admitted that their technicians did not replace the hose correctly resulting in the coolant leak (which could have been disastrous had it not happened when it did because we are road-tripping with the car tomorrow) For this very stressful situation that was a direct result of their incompetence they gave me a coupon for a free oil change with them, which is worthless to me because I will never go there again.

Mopar says not to service my 8HP70 transmission since it is good for the life of the transmission. Experience has shown me why it should be serviced. Daniel quickly verified the required parts and the required transmission fluid. He greeted me at the door and I knew I was in good hands. Almost 90,000 miles on a Hemi 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4X4 which I take very good care of. Now I will feel safer in my upcoming trip to California. Thank you Daniel for showing me the old pan and fluid. Naturally there were metallic particles visible in the fluid, on the 4 magnets and the filter had seen better days. I am feeling more content going thru this transmission servicing. Heat is a transmission's worse enemy and after 8 years 90,000 miles it will be great to have this additional comfort knowing it has now been serviced. I already knew that a complete flush is not recommended and Daniel agreed. Specs are 8HP70 8 Speed Automatic Transmission capacity is 8.8 quarts. Replacing the pan and gasket will take approximately 6 quarts. The 1/3 old mixed with 2/3 new will provide major benefits all with a new filter and new clean magnets.

They had the vehicle for 2 weeks before telling him it was repaired and ready to pick up. My son flew to Corpus Christi to retrieve his car, only to find out it still wasn't fixed and shifting correctly. He ended up stranded overnight, spending an additional $860 replacing the battery, alternator, & fuses, hoping the transmission wasn't the issue. His dad had to drive 6 hours to get him and the car. They continue to not take accountability for the mistake and lack of following through to ensure the transmission was working as it should. The laziness on their part cost us at least $4600 total and the car still isn't fixed. Their only response is "we offered to rebuild but you declined and chose a used transmission", and they want us to once again go out of our way and take the car 6.5 hours back south so they can fix the mistake they made. They might have installed the transmission but they failed miserably at the most important task of making sure that the car was repaired and safe for my son to drive. Don't waste your time or money on these idiots! And report them to the BBB if you've been duped, too!
